Thank you for this video. I am from NZ but my 5X Great Grandparents, Patrick and Mary Cummins, were from Tomard in County Carlow. Would love to visit but nice video past land that they must have walked.
That’s great to hear John. Glad you liked seeing scenes from home! My wides family are all from Ballygowan which is right beside Tomard. Amond family
How many day did it take you, I know it’s different with everybody, just reference. Also, I found of the official APP and website, only cycling path starting from Jougne. So when you started from Cantebury, is it the designed cycling path of Via Francigena? Or just found your own way from destination to destination? Thanks
We roughly followed the LightFoot guide books (3 books over the route) by Paul Chinn and Babette Gallard. We had to take a couple of trains as my son became ill for about a week and we spent roughly 3 weeks cycling. We managed to get off road quite a bit in France.
@@Rotharroutes thank you
What a great adventure guys! Do you happen to have the GPX or KML file for the route you took? I'm looking to plan a very similar journey so any tips would be much appreciated! All the best,
Thanks for your kind words. I dont have any GPX Files but I do have a lot of the details still of the route we took. It's a fantastic route. There is a Facebook Via Francigena Group and I am sure someone there would have GPX files. If I can do anything for you, just get in touch!
Great video, some incredible views along the way, well done
Not sure if Turloughs cycling ability has improved but his video/sound production is second to none. Great job old friend 👍
Lovely, well done.

Soloists in order of appearance, Carmel Lyons, Siobhán Roberts, Ellen Sheils, Lynda Harrington O'Dwyer, Rennie Buenting, Siobhán Kinsella, Mick Daly and Rody Kelly. The idea for this project sprung to mind over a year ago during lockdown. ‘Take me home to Carlow’ written by Carlovian Declan Smyth is an all-time favourite of Aspiro Inspired adult community choir since we first performed it in 2013. Declan wrote it for the ‘Song for Carlow’ competition in 2005. ‘Take me home to Carlow’ took on a whole new depth of meaning when the pandemic hit in March 2020. Thoughts immediately went to those far from home who this time last year knew their hopes of returning home to families and friends would not be happening. After months of Zoom choir rehearsals, singers learning new skills to record themselves on their phones, encouraging singers to volunteer for solos, distanced rehearsals and professional recordings in my back garden with Ollie and Shaun Hennessy, soloist visits to Ollie’s recording studio where Shaun gently guided them through their paces while I conducted, Ollie deciding to do a new instrumental arrangement, mixing of voices by Ollie and Shaun, singers taking photos of themselves in the various places mentioned in the song as well as their own favourite spots and finally handing the photos to my better half Turlough (he says I’m his better half so I suppose we’re each others better half!) to curate and match the singers photos and images which include some of his own to the sound track…… HERE IT IS AT LAST! Aspiro Inspired have recently rebranded and are now known as ‘Carlow Community Choir’.
Brilliant trip. Looks like you got the weather for it (for the most part!)
Brilliant song beautiful photos of carlow
Looks like a great place to ride.
It really is worth the effort if you are in Italy some time!
울나라도 수변라이딩 구간 저렇게 만들어주세요.
Love it. Its in my blood literally. My mums family are from St mullins. I know every part from my youth on school holidays from Dublin. And my family are farmers from there.
Great part of the World. Off the beaten track!
*More mud getting on my feet today cuz I’m going to this place and there is layers of mud around in the woods there,Wish me good luck to get parking* 😂
Leave car in town and walk or cycle out! Did you get to the Redwood tree?
@@RotharroutesWell I didn’t get to red wood but I was able to get to the giant tree. And others but there’s so much mud when ever we get out out car

How beautiful . I need to research more on my ancestors now TFS . 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Watching from New Zealand 😊 This looks incredible!
It is amazing! Well worth hiring a bike and cycling round the Lake!
@@Rotharroutes thank you for your reply. If I can get to Italy one day I will certainly do that ride! I have been a keen cyclist since I was a child, over 50 years ago. :-)
@@GypsyGirl317 I think we will all be stuck at home for another while.... you could be in worse places! At least NZ is running normally...
@@Rotharroutes yes, I am very grateful to be a Kiwi! 🤗 All the best for you guys. 💜
Obviously! It's Italy! 🇮🇹😜👍
Nice vids, going to check out some more of your videos! This deserves more views, I think you should use smzeus . c o m it’s the best way to grow your channel quickly!
If the council had sense, they would give it a proper surface
Iscritto al canale +like meritatissimo Bellissimo video Se ti va passa sul mio canale grazie
Looks fabulous. How far could you go?
You can cycle around the entire Lake but this section was quite short, maybe a couple of kilometres. As far as I am aware, they are extending it on that side of the Lake as the road is dangerous due to numerous tunnels. It's a class cycle!
The total length will be 140km. Complete in 2021.
