    I find her rather chilling knowing the story of her and her husband as traitors, fascists. Thank god British Fascism and anti Semites like her did not prevail in England. Horrible...frightening person. With a facade of high class normality. In denial of the extent of the Holocaust to the end. Fascinated by Hitler..... The "horror" of her imprisonment was nothing compared to that of the German concentration camps.

    Mosley started as a Conservative, crossed the floor to Labour, formed his own “New” party, became leader of the British fascists, and after the war championed the pan-European movement. It’s weird and disingenuous Lady Mosley would complain her husband’s supporters were unfaithful to him, when he’s the one who jumped from party to party whenever he felt slighted.

    I listened to this out of morbid curiosity - I'm not one of those who believes controversial figures should be "cancelled" from media appearances. But it stands as one of - possibly the - worst interviews I have ever heard. Sue Lawley all but fawns over her Nazi sympathizing guest, giving her free reign to literally deny the Holocaust, disputing the numbers murdered. This is a crime under English law, and defies all concrete evidence. there is no excuse for casting doubt on the proven facts of history's largest example of industrialized mass murder, and the affectionate style with which Lawley allows her to do this is cringeworthy and negligent. The interviewee goes on to defend Hitler, blames the Jews for the rise of fascism and the violence at Cable St, and makes several other grotesque and historically inaccurate points. In her defence of the interview 20-odd years later, Lawley said she had felt it was important to do it in order to challenge Diana Mosley's views and assertions, but she treats her with kid gloves throughout, and does not challenge a single one of her disgusting claims.

    My parents, who were both Scottish always used to say to me, "listen to what the person is saying and ignore how they sound." This is advice I have adhered to all my life. So I listen to Lady Mosley's views and recollections and form my opinion based on what she says, not on how her accent sounds. In doing so I do not defer to her perceived class, nor do I think her comments have more gravity just because they are given in RP. I have read several of her sisters books (Nancy) who ridicules their class and their ideals. To this day people like this still exist, hidden on old country estates around the U.K. It has been my experience encountering these people that without exception they are both polite and gracious. Two traits that are now almost non existent in modern society.

    Thank you for making this audio account available. It does indeed reflect a bygone age and a person whose views or form of expression you might not agree with (and I don’t fully understand her to make any view) but in the interview it’s possible to see where these can be miss construed. The evolution of her understanding and honesty as one of very few British people who met and conversed with AH in his native tongue is clear. As is that she in the post war period, she in no way denied the holocaust as an event. How then does the BBC (a state funded broadcaster) think they should choose to suppress this content? The recording gives context to this important figure and the events she personally witnessed. Sadly as clearly shown in the comments added it also reveals how far the understanding of bias (and the general level of education) has fallen. Thank you for making this available and I agree entirely with your description. It seems few of those commenting through their own unveiled vulgarity and bias appear to have the attention span to read.

    • @simonzonenblick395
      @simonzonenblick395 2 месяца назад

      She denies the Holocaust in this very interview. "I don't really, I'm afraid, believe that six million people were ... I think its just inconceivable." She then goes on to suggest it may only have been "one million" - a figure she has plucked from the air without any evidence or source. To start denying proven numbers and casting doubt on official verified figures, is to pull apart the validity of historically recorded fact. She knew exactly what she was doing.

    I'm shocked by the amount of admiration for Diana Mosley in the comments. She was a fascist through and through, vehement supporter of Hitler. How can anyone talk positively about her?

    • @andrjsh
      @andrjsh 6 месяцев назад

      Thank you for the reply. The reasons for peoples' admiration of Lady Mosley are manifold. First and foremost, her aristocratic beauty, gracefulness, and elegance draw people in an almost magnetic way; when something is extremely beautiful or impressive, we forget our prejudices in order to worship at the shrine. Secondly, she is an artifact of a vanished world, so, a voice from the past. Thirdly, she was part of that Pleiades we call the Mitford Sisters, which has always drawn interest. Fourthly, her unjust imprisonment and separation from her sons pulls at the heart strings. Fifly, and most "controversially," many do not ascribe to the narrative that has been sounding from government, media, and academe for nigh on seventy years; this is a landmass unto itself, but current voices presenting a broader and deeper range of facts are the RUclips channels TIKHistory and Zoomer Historian and historian David Irving, who was sentenced to three years in jail for presenting "alternative facts". Perhaps Lady Mosley is a kind of lost goddess for these historical heretics.

      @@andrjshIrving pled guilty to the charges against him, so he can hardly be regarded as a political prisoner. He was also the one who initiated the libel trial which resulted in his bankruptcy. I think the best word for him is quack: he says Hitler was “the best friend the Jews had in the Third Reich” and claims neither gas chambers nor crematorium ovens existed at concentration camps. He denies the overwhelming physical evidence, the accounts of both prisoners and guards, and the exhaustive amount of paperwork and other media left behind by the Nazi state, all of which attest to the Holocaust.
