I had never done this before, i was stuck on how to remove the wire from the old battery, i was afraid to break the pins or the connector, but then i saw you easily pop it up, that encourage me to "force" pop it . @@JoePelusoMedia Hi! Just looked in the service manual and you're correct. There isn't much information on this problem. Sadly, Dell doesn't considers this as an end-user serviceable problem. Based on the information I'm seeing, I would start looking at the display assembly. Based on the parts locator, dell doesn't even sell the display assembly. You may have to go 3rd party at that point. I would honestly weigh the pros and cons of taking on this repair vs sending it to dell for repair vs replacing the laptop. Your time may not be worth the headache. I wish you the best, keep me posted!

    Why not just use WiFi calling? I use it here and now get a solid connection at home, where I previously had a poor signal. Also, what's the point of the GPS?

    • @acostae.t.f4006
      @acostae.t.f4006 Месяц назад

      There are a few reasons one might use a CellSpot instead of Wifi-calling. 1. My device was given to me for free as long as I'm a T-Mobile customer, this saves the cost of buying a router. Some routers that you buy don't offer the coverage that this device does. From a cost perspective, you save on the device. 2. The CellSpot provides network handoffs. This means you can start a call in your home and leave your house and the call will handoff to the nearest tower so you can continue your call. With Wifi-calling, your call will drop when you leave coverage of your router and you will have to call your party back. 3. Compatibility: Some folks buy unlocked devices to put on T-Mobiles network. Not all devices are certified to work on Wifi-calling with T-Mobile's network. One device that comes to mind where I had this issue was the Sony Xperia 1 V. With the Cellspot you don't have to worry about device compatibility. When it comes to the GPS on the Cellspot, one of the main reasons for having it is when you're dialing emergency services. Your location can be sent over in the event of an emergency. This is an issue for Wifi-calling, you may not be at the registered emergency address when calling over Wifi. Thank you for the question and thank you for supporting our channel!

    • @James_Knott
      @James_Knott Месяц назад

      @@acostae.t.f4006 1) Most (all?) people already have WiFi, either with an ISP provided gateway or their own WiFi. I have a separate access point mounted in a better location than any router is likely to be. 2) WiFi calling has seamless transition with VoLTE (4G) or VoNR (5G). 3) I am aware some devices or plans might not support WiFi calling. As for GPS, many phones can all ready provide GPS info on emergency calls. Also, when you configure a phone for WiFi calling, you have to enter the address where it's set up, usually a home address. Also, I don't like the idea of my network being open to anyone.

    If cell signal is terrible in home, I fail to see what this solves unless all your traffic is re-routed via the internet. You might get a great mico-cell in your house with it but if your uplink sucks this won't fix unless it can be placed somewhere to get better signal. The right antenna in and repeater in the correct resolves this much better. I would be interested in seeing what happens if the signal to the internet dies in your home what your cellular access outside of the micro-cell is.

    • @acostae.t.f4006
      @acostae.t.f4006 2 месяца назад

      This is a femtocell. Femtocell is a small, low-power cellular base station, typically designed for use in a home or small business. It typically connects to the service provider's network via the Internet through a wired broadband link (such as DSL or cable). Femtocells extend network coverage where main cell signals are weak, reducing congestion by connecting users through the internet to the operator's network infrastructure. This helps offload connections from main cells, particularly based on physical distance to cell towers, optimizing network performance. This is very different from a repeater. According to T-Mobile, an upload link of 2Mbps is recommended but lower speeds can work. Shouldn't be hard to obtain with today's technological advancements. Should you have an internet outage, of course your phone will loose coverage. But I take it you will be in the same spot as you were before the Cellspot or you wouldn't be looking to improve your coverage :) Thanks for watching our content and subscribing to the channel!

    Hi! How did you remove the system cable? I was trying to replace my battery the other night, but the cable is extremely well secured (almost seems soldered stuck??) and so I can't get it off. Feels like pulling it might ruin it completely. Did you have to apply a lot of force or did you do anything else to get it off?

      In our case when we removed the system cable from the first battery in order to install it in the second (new) battery, the cable was held down by adhesive in 2 locations. A slight upward pull was able to detach the cable from the 2 location that had the adhesive. The final part was to lift upwards where the pins mated to the battery. No tools were needed in our case, just a bit of elbow grease. Good luck and thank you for watching our content and subscribing to the channel.

      QNAP TR-004 4 Bay USB Type-C Direct Attached Storage (DAS) with hardware RAID (Diskless)

    • @acostae.t.f4006
      @acostae.t.f4006 3 месяца назад

      Personally, I would skip this NAS for a plethora of reasons but two major reasons are: 1. Most if not all NAS hard drives perform at 6Gbps, meaning how much data it can transfer out of the hard drive, according to the spec sheet the internal drive bay (location where you connect the hard drive to the NAS) only works at 3Gbps. You loose 50% in performance of transferring data due to the NAS interface. This is especially important when transferring large files. 2. This only has a USB C interface which means you would have to plug into one computer at a time. If you want to share the storage across multiple computers, you really need to find a NAS with an Ethernet interface. Yes, there are ways to share the storage with multiple computers by just the USB C interface but it's more cumbersome as apposed to using Ethernet for file sharing. Hope this helps! Why did you have to use iTunes instead of just restoring from iCloud? Did you not trust iCloud restore?

    • @acostae.t.f4006
      @acostae.t.f4006 3 месяца назад

      Great question! You can restore from iCloud. It's not that we don't trust iCloud, its just that that option doesn't make sense in our case. We built our own cloud several years ago which has more storage capacity than Apple's current offering as of this writing (12TB for $59.99/month). Since we own multiple devices, we can leverage iTunes in order to backup multiple devices to our own cloud and leverage the capacity that we paid for several years ago. This drives our cost down further as the years go by than using iCloud. We appreciate you watching our content and subscribing to the channel!

      Here are some recommendations: 1. Use OEM when replacing your battery. 2. Double check your battery connector is seated properly with the battery cable that connects to the motherboard. 3. Double check your connection between the battery and the mother board. 4. Double check if your charger is still properly working. I hope these tips help! Double check your model number and based on that, you can look up what parts are compatible with your laptop. FYI for Dell PC, they have a service tag number that can also be used. If you need additional help, feel free to send me an email. My information is always listed in the description of every video.

    I would think an external antenna would be a simpler method. I'm convinced that some of these problems, along with over the air radio reception, are due to the type of materials that have been used by many contractors in the home building industry. Foil backed insulated sheathing was used in my home, and my stereo receiver could barely pick up a signal in my family room (but a cheap portable has great reception in the garage that doesn't have that sheathing in the walls). I installed an external antenna to fix the problem. I've seen info from people with the 5G internet plans from T-Mobile, Verizon, etc. indicating they got an antenna offered by their carrier that can be mounted to your windows on the inside, or mounted outside the home, and it improves that signal. Something to think about before trying the more involved methods.

    • @acostae.t.f4006
      @acostae.t.f4006 4 месяца назад

      You are absolutely correct in that the materials in your home will affect cell coverage. Depending on what carrier you choose, the frequency in which the carrier decides to use, along with the materials in your home, are a few factors that will determine the coverage you will see. There are many things to consider with an external antenna, carrier band compatibility, size, performance, etc. While an external antenna can be a great option, its not always best in all situations. Here are some reasons why you may choose the option shown in the video: a. 100% Carrier compatibility. No need to research whether this device will work with T-Mobile. b. Easy installation. If you're a renter you don't have to install an external antenna to the residence which may or may not be allowed. c. No cost (assuming an internet subscription): T-Mobile give these devices out as long as your a monthly subscriber at no additional cost. d. Possible higher performance than an antenna based on several factors. The only downside to this device is security. You can't control who connects to the Cellspot. Any T-Mobile customer can connect within the vicinity(noted in terms & conditions). This also includes subsidiaries of T-Mobile (MetroPCS, Mint, etc.) They can use your internet plan in order to access services which can eat your home ISP data allotment if you have one or they can do malicious acts which can tie back to your home IP address. It's not always a one size fits all. This video is meant for educational purposes and everyone should do research to see what will work best for their scenario. When it comes to 5G home internet plans, that is a different ball game. Thank you for watching our content and subscribing to the channel!

      Quick Start is a fantastic feature for transferring your data from one iPhone to another. In our particular case, we wanted an exact back up of our device in case the iPhone was lost/damaged. Since we run our own cloud with ample storage, we are able to keep these backups for the multiple devices we own. This is one of the driving factors for choosing iTunes in order to backup/restore. As you pointed out, there are multiple ways to accomplish tasks in tech and each solution may vary based on needs. Thank you for watching our content and subscribing to the channel!

    Do you think it would be better to 1. replace the battery like you did, 2. upgrade the battery with a compatible dell battery, 3. just buy a portable power bank to carry in my backpack?

    • @acostae.t.f4006
      @acostae.t.f4006 4 месяца назад

      I recommend going with 1 & 3 and skipping 2. From past experiences, aftermarket manufacture batteries don't have the same capacity that they claim or the performance is not the same (Battery life is less). Currently for the XPS 9520, an OEM battery is $159.99 for 86 Wh. Even if the battery only last a year like my last one, I view it as it cost me 43 cents a day to operate my laptop. If you travel as much as I do, a power bank can help for those moments that you don't have an outlet around. As an example, I can use my laptop on a most domestic flights as I see around 4-5 hours of battery life. For those flights that are longer than 4-5 hours or times where I forget to charge my laptop battery, a battery bank will help bridge the gap until you're able to find an outlet. This is the battery bank that I use and it has gotten me through several occasions where my battery has been running low: amzn.to/3OidLca. Thanks for the question.
