My man...... I know your pain😢
i remember seeing you fly past my farm that thing sounds incredible
😊 Thank you 😊 maybe a bit too loud, no?
Good stuff! 👍
🙌 🙌 Glad you got your bike back!
So am I. Keen to put down some good miles now, and share some incredible journeys
Where is redbeard located
In Brackenfell. You can reach out to them on Instagram
One thing i have noticed in motorcycle is getting used to them so that you can be able to fix it yourself
Yes. Learning how to do minor mechanical work is an absolute essential skill for motorcycles
wonder if hand warmers put in boots would work? gel ones? have a go, nothing to lose.
Interesting 🤔 I'm sure they'd help
Very fair review, brother. We had a few as delivery bikes, and there had endless issues, too. But one gets what one pays for in life more often than not.
Too true. And worse, if they were a fleet of delivery bikes. They weren't being looked after
Don't believe him
Just sharing my experience. Perhaps you had a better one than me 🤷♂️ feel free to share your experience. I'd love to hear about it
Welcome back. Hope you’re on the road again soon 🤘
I hope so too! Just one little push before I am. Holding thumbs
🙂Really makes me smile when I see someone else getting to experience the grunt of the Monster. Been commuting on my Monster S4R for the past 4 years now and what a beast. I still get butterflies when I jump on her.
It really does pull nicely, in comparison to The TSR250 I was used to riding, it was a night and day difference. But if I compare to the Bandit, the Bandit pulls waaay harder
I am having big problems with big boy tsr 250cc wiring harness I ask big boy dealership they don't have wiring harness If any one knows where can buy or any online shop to buy new harness for my bike I will be thankfully
Have you tried bikepartssa.co.za?
Hello sorry I just want to find out if you might know where I can buy parts online "South Africa" I have a Big Boy TSR 125 and there is a clinging noise in the engine, not very loud but I picked up on it although I don't know what the problem could be and I am +- 160km away from any offline Big Boy suppliers Sa Bikes and Bikes SA have some of the parts but I cant find any 125 piston kits or gaskets sets
You can try bikepartssa.co.za. that's where I got my 250 piston kit
I've had a Superlight 200 for over 2 years which is sitting on around 42k kms I used it for long commutes +-70km daily, it averaged 2.5l/100km, 3L if I was pushing it on those highway drives. My biggest expenses was at the beginning when I still serviced at a bigboy, where on 3 different occasions I'd go home with a bike that's half baked, 1, front brake caliper fell off, 2, chain coming loose on way home from a service, 3. They loosen my handlebars and forget to tighten them then you brake and bend. Then found a mechanic nearby who also sold parts and taught me the basics of maintainence, 2 sprockets and Chain R400, Disk Brakes R120, Drum R90, clutch cable R110 that's about it when it comes to things I've replaced on the bike over the years. I've only changed tyres once though. So I think bigboy bikes can be a good bike if you want them to be, if you don't mind the 110km/h max cruise without pushing it too much.
can i send you a message need tips on my bike maintenance
@robotics2024 of courses , send me a dm on Instagram, @CasualRidersYT
@robotics2024 yeah totally
This was super helpful, kind of embarrassed at how easy it was lol
Honestly it's not embarrassing, machines can be intimidating, but they're pretty easy to figure out
Great video, just bought a pair thanks to your info!
Thanks. Hope you'll have many safe miles
Jeez my dude... This could have been the end of you. That motor seems substandard. I dont think this would have happened in a Japanese bike. Hope you get this sorted!
Yeah. Really disappointed with the big boy,
replace some of the components with Honda parts....it gets better
Could not agree with you more on these rules Bud. Rule 6 especially is critical. You have to think for everyone around you at all times and try and anticipate what other vehicles are gonna do. Also, when starting off from new, get some rider training and lastly, visibility, for me, probable the most important rule. I have reflective tape all over the back of my bike and on the back of my helmet... My wife hates it but I feel safer 😂 As always, great and important video thx Bud. 🙏👌
The problem with visibility as a rule, is it gives a false sense of offloading responsibility to the cagers on the road. The "how could you not see me" mentality. Yes, it helps, but you still need to still assume nobody can see you when you're on the road
@@CasualRiders Spot on..👌
I was the dude with the R1250 GS Adventure Tripple black on that very day at Mooiberge where I picked your brain about this Sym. Explaining that my friend wants to chose between the Sym and Big Boy, little did I know you guys were actually doing a test drive. FYI, buddy chose the Sym NHT 200 and is loving it.
Good choice 👌 I just sold the TSR 250 after I had to do a top end rebuild.
Big boy tsr is not so bad, just swap throttle control with honda xr125 fit perfectly and last longer. Just check all the bolts replace starter clutch with honda 125 starter clutch.
so you saying, just buy a honda?
Yes, just buy a Honda That CRF 300 is a lekker bike
Hey Bud, awesome video man. I have some slack on my throttle that I can`t get out, the adjusting nut is at its max, can`t turn out any further... I only had my bike for a year.. Can`t possibly be a stretched cable, can it ??
So the big boys actually have a bit of a floor when it comes to the throttle cable they are overspeed so they're about a centimetre too long and no matter what you do you're not going to get the slack out. My honest advice is to try and find a cable maker near you that is able to shorten that cable for you by exactly 1 centimeter. I did this on the TSA 250 when the cable snapped for the second time. I just got them to use the same cable but add a new ferrule so it was shorter
@@CasualRiders thx for the advice Bud, was not aware of that..🙏. Stay safe out there
Where did the bottom of the spring for the brake light switch connect to? Your video skipped that part.
Look at 14:24 , there's a half-circular piece of metal just below the bushings. It goes there
Hi, how do i incease the hight of the front fender?
I don't think you can, AFAIK the mounting points are fixed
Cable does not move back, almost like it is not connecting to the spring. Any advise
You'll meed to be more specific. Have you already attempted to change the cable, and now the throttle doesn't return correctly? Or at the moment it doesn't return and you haven't changed the cable?
Hi I’m also looking to buy 250cc bike and was wondering if I could go +-500km distance with periodic pit stops?
The problem with The TSR 250 is the way the bike is geared. Whilst it does really well on the dirt, and riding around town, it is really bad at traveling at highway speeds. If you're going to do long distance, you're going to need to cruise at 90km/h so as not to cause damageto the engine, which is incredibly unsafe. Some 250cc motorbikes might be better suited to do highway riding, but honestly, you'd be better off on a 400+
@@CasualRiders Thank you 🙏
Great video however you’re quite inaudible 😭😭
Hi how you? Is this bike ok for a 45km travel on the highway also can you go 120kmph for about 30km?
Hey, hey. Doing alright. Are you referring to the big boy? Yes a 45km trip is fine, but not at anything faster than 100. That's why I had this failure on mine
@@CasualRidersyes. Oh I see. Thanks
Hi there are you still going to fix the TSR?
Yes, it's still a work in progress at the moment
@@CasualRiders good day .. looking forward seeing the TSR back in action again .. ! I hope you gonna post some repair videos re the TSR .. !
@tinusvanwyk3008 unfortunately, the TSR is no longer with me😔 but that means the Bandit is on its final stages, and will be back on the road soon.
@@CasualRiders That's a pity, at least soon the Bandit will be up and running😀
Like the vids, about to get my first bike
Ah lekker. What have you got in mind?
I'm looking at Big Boy Tsr 250 for work but it won't be a problem for me I think so because I will modify the bike for my needs... I would really like do some engine works first like doing a full exhaust. head flowing biggering the carburetor loping the cam even changing the coil and spark plug but in the end of the day I don't know or Wil it be waste of time and money or it will be worth every penny because looking at Honda CRF300 raise a budget question and looking at Kawasaki and KTM it's expensive to maintain
Look, with the experience I've been having with the TSR I'd honestly recommend that you buy Honda or other Japanese brand. My TSR piston failed after 21 000 km and I've spent over 10k trying to fix it without success.
Have you been able to get it fixed yet? I have a choice between a Suzuki Gixxer 150 or the bigboy TSR 250 which would you choose?
Sadly, no! It seems that simply swapping the piston and valves has not been a straightforward job, and I'm having a hard time getting the bike running again. Save yourself the heartache and frustration, buy the Suzuki
So sorry to hear man, what oil do you use in the TSR and how often did you change it?
Sae 30, mineral oil, as instructed in the owners manual
And the oil must be changed every 3000 km
@CasualRiders that's a pitty my Tsr 250 has 16000km on the clock I'm running 20w50, I also change it every 3k
@GamingLife420 do you ride on the open road, or the suburbs? You should still be okay if you're not constantly riding at highway speeds, like I do
@CasualRiders yeah I prefer to not to Rev the engine high all the time. But lol sometimes you just can't help it, specially if you have a nice exhaust on lol
This is great man l will always watch your videos l am using the same bike keep posting more videos of big boy TSR
I am using the same bike man and l have a problem with the tank The tank is leaking down on the cape that as a fuel gauge electric cable What is the solution l can use patch (bond) close the leakage?
You're going to need to remove the tank, and replace the seal where the wire goes into the tank
Thank man thank you very much I have clip here where you can see the position that l want to patch What type of a bond do use there the cable was installed Though a steal material where the fuel is leaking now
@@CasualRidersthanks for sharing. The beauty of the TSR. Easy to take apart. Easy to assemble. Affordable to fix. And whilst doing so one learn much technically. Still a huge fan of the TSR. With current gear ratio rather cruise at 80 or 85. Quite a lot of info on RUclips. Search Hawk 250 dual sport. The guys from the States go big on these. TSR here in SA, HAWK in US. Perhaps consider new sleeve, piston and rings. Keep us posted.
@shawnhove6447 I'm not too sure, you could probably get away with using some seca-flex or gasket maker, but you risk breaking the electrical connection, meaning the guage won't work.
@@tinusvanwyk3008no way I can cruise so slow.... 😂 I can't risk moving slower than the traffic, the fear of being rear ended is overwhelming. Not to mention I'm too impatient
Great "test" , really enjoyed it. I still prefer the TSR. Cheaper to purchase, cheaper to repair. I had a SYM scooter and I have found spare parts to be more expensive in comparison to a family member having a BigBoy Revival scooter. I like something that I can troubleshoot and fix by the roadside or at home when it comes to that. Fuel injection and liquid cooling is a benefit but more tricky and expensive to fix. In these economical times I choose affordability and simplicity.
All valid points. Yes, the less complex an engine is, the easier it'll be to repair and maintain.
Well done. Enjoyed. Cool. Drop by bro, you may like my cotnent. Cheers.
Thanks for watching, Glad you enjoyed it. I'll keep an eye on your channel 😉
@@CasualRiders Thanks bro. appreciate it.
cool

Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Great video on sprockets and chain replacement. Appreciate. Possible to please share part numbers and brand name wrt the chain and sprockets ?
Yoh. Now you're asking for me to go digging through the archives 😂. Chain is 428-132L part no 87-C428U132 Front sprocket 95F-0259-17 Rear sprocket is 95R-0269-50 Bought it all from Startline 😉
@@CasualRiders thank you SO much .. really appreciated .. be safe, be BLESSED.
@@CasualRidersforgot to ask .. the 17 front and 50 rear .. standard tooth count on those .. or did you change the ratio .. ?
@@tinusvanwyk3008 I don't know, they were changed before by bigboy to those sizes, then I did them myself thereafter
Rest in peace Daniel!
DanDan helped me tremendously to understand what to look for and how to see things before they happen along with how to react to them. I was doing ok figuring it out on my own. My first 2K mi went without to much trouble. Though i do believe the 6K since then has been safer and more enjoyable due to dans efforts.
That's wonderful to hear. I must admit, my riding journey was much the same, started out with very little experience, and only later started to take practice seriously
Daily motorcycle riding is critical; muscle memory is as vital as situational awareness. Ride with survival in mind. Great Video - Thank You.
Even when they do see you, they may still pretend you aren't there. (Early on, a driver "pushed" me 1.5 lanes over because I was "in her way".) Do not allow yourself to be "brake checked". Maintain distances - front and back. Never ever gst boxed in.
Yes, sometimes you will come across a cager having a bad day, that does run you off the road, but that's why you should always pass wide, or as DanDanTheFireman says, "maintain your space cushion"
They make their money with parts replacement.
Well, this is true. A part. Which start line charges R45 for, they charge 120. And if they install it badly, it'll fail sooner
IOW do not buy rubbish 😂.
🤣 exactly 🤣
Excellent
These guys rode past my flat tonight. I was wondering what it was all about. As a biker myself, it's always sad to hear of situations like these, but this much love is an awesome spectacle to behold. R. I. P.
Bru let's go for a ride sometime, I'll bring my TSR, also based in CPT?
Sounds good, DM me on insta (CasualRidersYT) I'll let you know when I'm joining a ride today side, most likely next month's RidersTable (which might also be Distinguished Gentleman's Ride)
Very very very emportant .... make sure and ask around about your dealership.. they can make or brake your trust in bigboy
Sounds like you have also been on the receiving end of bad dealer service?
