    I've had a Superlight 200 for over 2 years which is sitting on around 42k kms I used it for long commutes +-70km daily, it averaged 2.5l/100km, 3L if I was pushing it on those highway drives. My biggest expenses was at the beginning when I still serviced at a bigboy, where on 3 different occasions I'd go home with a bike that's half baked, 1, front brake caliper fell off, 2, chain coming loose on way home from a service, 3. They loosen my handlebars and forget to tighten them then you brake and bend. Then found a mechanic nearby who also sold parts and taught me the basics of maintainence, 2 sprockets and Chain R400, Disk Brakes R120, Drum R90, clutch cable R110 that's about it when it comes to things I've replaced on the bike over the years. I've only changed tyres once though. So I think bigboy bikes can be a good bike if you want them to be, if you don't mind the 110km/h max cruise without pushing it too much.

    Could not agree with you more on these rules Bud. Rule 6 especially is critical. You have to think for everyone around you at all times and try and anticipate what other vehicles are gonna do. Also, when starting off from new, get some rider training and lastly, visibility, for me, probable the most important rule. I have reflective tape all over the back of my bike and on the back of my helmet... My wife hates it but I feel safer 😂 As always, great and important video thx Bud. 🙏👌

    • @CasualRiders
      @CasualRiders 3 месяца назад

      The problem with visibility as a rule, is it gives a false sense of offloading responsibility to the cagers on the road. The "how could you not see me" mentality. Yes, it helps, but you still need to still assume nobody can see you when you're on the road

    Hey Bud, awesome video man. I have some slack on my throttle that I can`t get out, the adjusting nut is at its max, can`t turn out any further... I only had my bike for a year.. Can`t possibly be a stretched cable, can it ??

    • @CasualRiders
      @CasualRiders 3 месяца назад

      So the big boys actually have a bit of a floor when it comes to the throttle cable they are overspeed so they're about a centimetre too long and no matter what you do you're not going to get the slack out. My honest advice is to try and find a cable maker near you that is able to shorten that cable for you by exactly 1 centimeter. I did this on the TSA 250 when the cable snapped for the second time. I just got them to use the same cable but add a new ferrule so it was shorter

    • @CasualRiders
      @CasualRiders 4 месяца назад

      The problem with The TSR 250 is the way the bike is geared. Whilst it does really well on the dirt, and riding around town, it is really bad at traveling at highway speeds. If you're going to do long distance, you're going to need to cruise at 90km/h so as not to cause damageto the engine, which is incredibly unsafe. Some 250cc motorbikes might be better suited to do highway riding, but honestly, you'd be better off on a 400+

    Great "test" , really enjoyed it. I still prefer the TSR. Cheaper to purchase, cheaper to repair. I had a SYM scooter and I have found spare parts to be more expensive in comparison to a family member having a BigBoy Revival scooter. I like something that I can troubleshoot and fix by the roadside or at home when it comes to that. Fuel injection and liquid cooling is a benefit but more tricky and expensive to fix. In these economical times I choose affordability and simplicity.

      All valid points. Yes, the less complex an engine is, the easier it'll be to repair and maintain.

    DanDan helped me tremendously to understand what to look for and how to see things before they happen along with how to react to them. I was doing ok figuring it out on my own. My first 2K mi went without to much trouble. Though i do believe the 6K since then has been safer and more enjoyable due to dans efforts.

      That's wonderful to hear. I must admit, my riding journey was much the same, started out with very little experience, and only later started to take practice seriously

    Daily motorcycle riding is critical; muscle memory is as vital as situational awareness. Ride with survival in mind. Great Video - Thank You.

    Even when they do see you, they may still pretend you aren't there. (Early on, a driver "pushed" me 1.5 lanes over because I was "in her way".) Do not allow yourself to be "brake checked". Maintain distances - front and back. Never ever gst boxed in.

      Yes, sometimes you will come across a cager having a bad day, that does run you off the road, but that's why you should always pass wide, or as DanDanTheFireman says, "maintain your space cushion"

    They make their money with parts replacement.

      Well, this is true. A part. Which start line charges R45 for, they charge 120. And if they install it badly, it'll fail sooner

    These guys rode past my flat tonight. I was wondering what it was all about. As a biker myself, it's always sad to hear of situations like these, but this much love is an awesome spectacle to behold. R. I. P.
