    Hi When you run a g-code program on the RMX control there is function called "start at tool" that should be able to start the program from a M6 tool change point in the middle of the program. I never got this to work it just alarms out, so i always have to start from the beginning then it runs fine. No big deal but it would be really nice to see a video on using the start at tool function on he Prototrak control.

    "No other machine in the world sets up quicker or easier for high mix, low volume machining." Mazaks with mazatrol are pretty easy to setup and program. Whether your doing one part or 500 their hard to beat in my opinion.

    • @TRAKmanFlorida
      @TRAKmanFlorida 4 года назад

      Hi Joe - we run some Mazaks in our manufacturing facility in L.A. They do our high production work and we love them. However, our high mix, low volume parts are done on the LPM, usually with one of our 2OPs beside the machine(s). Some of our cells have 1 person running 3 machines. We run the LPM over any other machine because with lots of setups and shifting job priorities, the LPM comes out on top. It's all about choosing the right tool for the job at hand. When using position moves to describe the stock, inc set the X, and abs set Z0.140" (your Z start point). End cycle and "Yes" to close the cycle. That's one way, there are others. However, if you watch the video here: ruclips.net/video/wHqfM8d12-k/видео.html then you will see for yourself how this machine performs. I machine most every type of materials on the 2OP. From aluminum to inconel. I cut D2 with a 3/4" endmill with great success. Give it the right chip load & rpm and it will amaze you. Being able to move it to where it's needed is key. An ad hoc cell can be setup where needed, when needed. Get more work out of a single person. Makes sense. The small footprint & generous travels are assets. Oh yes, it's very reasonably priced.

    I've worked on them ,they are junk in my opinion. They put all this fancy stuff on there, but when you run tool path no x and z coordinates. All you see is the shape. How stupid not knowing where the tool is going. Any turning undercuts it doesn't follow the contour it just plunges in which hard on the tooling. You're better off with something else .

      Perhaps a suggestion on a lathe that does display coordinates when back-plotting, Pete? Most cam packages do not give you coordinates on back-plot, and clearly this is not a cam system, rather, an alternative to having to buy and maintain one. Your opinion is just that. makes no sense to program this with a turning event in cycle. why not use a bore event or is it because there is no bore event in cycle? i wouldn't get if i could use a boring bar and the tool not crash. since with a bore event the boring bar would rapid AWAY from the part since it is the i.d.

    • @TRAKmanFlorida
      @TRAKmanFlorida 7 лет назад

      Hi Mario. Cycle is in fact a series of roughing passes (such as you would do with a bore) at a specified-by-you depth per roughing pass, then a semi finish pass to knock off scallops whilst leaving the finish stock amounts on. Finally it makes the finish cut, cutting an even amount of stock across the finish profile of the part. It is a much easier and more efficient method of stock removal and finishing that a simple bore cycle. I'll be popping up more turning videos in the near future. I'm getting better at making them and hopefully the newer ones will make it easier to comprehend. Thanks for your input.

    I find your videos to be most helpful. On your broken arc video when I use the graphical guess features most of the time I still have broken lines and can't get the pages to turn green, I can get the machine to run it in two axis. Is there a way to make the tolerances larger so they will connect the lines and turn solid? I think you could use a trip to the Florida Keys for some fishing. I could take you fishing and you could give me some lessons.

    • @TRAKmanFlorida
      @TRAKmanFlorida 8 лет назад

      Hey Gene - When you have an arc that spans both adjacent entities, yet is broken (it looks correct, but is broken), that means that the arc's centers are off (rounding error, most likely). If the arc is broken, the A.G.E. profile/pocket cannot be ended to allow subsequent operations to be performed.. It can, however, be machined with a broken arc(s). The solution is to go to the broken arc event and put in GUESS value(s) for the X and/or Y centers. Use the numeric values that are already there, just press the GUESS key before entering in the arc center value(s). Thanks for watching, and you are correct, I do need a trip to Florida!

      Just like Autocad, we express angles based on the angular grid from our starting point. Imagine an angular grid at the start point of the angled line. The print shows a 73 degree angle from the base of the part. That leaves 17 degrees left in the quadrant of the possible 90 degree total. From the start of the line, the angle comes off of 270 degrees + the remaining 17 degrees in that quadrant for a line angle of 287. I hope this is of use. If not, I may have to make an instructional video on line angle expressions.
