Just purchased this lens from over seas. Only $40. Included some sample footage for you to see. Recorded on a T2i, used cinestyle with lut applied in post. Lots of color grading, reduced video noise with Neat Video but original footage was pretty clean. ISO was at 160, 320 or 640 on all shots. Shot most of the footage wide open at f2.

This lens has a tendancy to collect dust very quickly on the inner element. Luckily its not hard to clean. As always if you are not comfortable with this process get a professional. Attemp at your own risk! Be careful and work slowly.

Was Converting old DV tapes to computer and found this video. Cut this into a little music video for some old friends. The Footage is not that great (quality) and the resolution is low but it was a nice moment to recapture for them.

A beautiful wedding with a stunning church. This wedding was top notch. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to video at this location in the our Nations Capital. I used two Canon T2i's and one HV40. It was my first "Real" wedding video and there were many beginner mistakes but some of the shots were just perfect. Lots of work and tons of fun!

What about the ba elements? How can I clean them?
1:44 actually it has tiny hole up there if you have sharp needle to lift up the cover !
I used sand paper on mine. It's kinda muddy now.

I tried this on my lens and it worked out fine. You need the right micro screw driver though .. my #00 size micro was too big so I had to get a #000 or better still get a #0000 cos I think that is the exact fit. These are tiny screws so u have to take care on this. Do not try to force them with the wrong size screw driver as if you blunt the screw head, you could be in for trouble. Placing the screws back in is not easy unless you have a magnetic screw driver or really expert fingers. Apart from this it is quite easy to do.
Good tip on the screw driver size, yes it is very important to use the correct size, one slip and you ruin the screw.
Do you have the exact screwdriver size and type for this?
Sharifah Shahidah I don't know the exact size I used but I had a tool kit and kept trying until I found one that worked.

Hi Joe. When putting the screws back, can you place it in any of the the three holes available in each and every screw ? Because I see 9 different holes all in all.
Been a while since I've cleaned it but I would try to put it back together exactly the way it came apart. To be honest though I am not sure what the exact answer is to your question.

Excellent tutorial thanks. I got some sand particles into my 24-105L lens at the weekend. I hear it when I move the zoom ring. Does this video process slow me to clean out the sand or are there further screws to remove to fe that sand out? Thanks so much look forward to hearing back. Al
Sand could be scary, may want to send it off for a cleaning.
Do you know how to clean the rear lenses? I have a huge partial stuck in there and I don't want to spend $200 for someone to clean it.

I am not sure how the screw could have came loose but yes once you get the front glass removed you should be able to get it out. Make sure you purchase the correct screw driver so the screws dont get damaged. The ring went back on without more glue...it was still sticky. wear gloves :-) ... cloth so you dont get finger prints on the glass and dont forget to mark the location of the front glass before you remove it. If all else fails send it to canon and they will fix it for a fee.
what happened with my 17-55 is that 1 screw fell loose and now its rattling inside the lens. however, it did happen once that the screw itself showed itself between the first and second glass, meaning, if i would open it the way you did, i could get it out. but it eventually disappeared into the back. i will attempt this tutorial this weekend in order to fish it out. regarding the glued ring, can you mount it back on with existing glue, or do you have to apply a new one?
I have one of those, what adapter should I buy? any m42 adapter does the job? Nice vid btw
My godness. I'm having an adapter to mount it on my T3i, so I could post a video-response. Does it perform well in many situations?
