Santee Cooper Tournament of Champions
Просмотров 5522 месяца назад
Spent the week at Santee Cooper lakes for the Hobie Bass Open Series Tournament of Champions. Fished both Lake Marion and Moultrie from the Hatchery to the swamp. They call this place Jurassic park and for good reason. I had a few decent days in practice that unfortunately didn't pan out for the tournament. With changing weather conditions and tough fall fishing I didn't adapt quick enough. Remi...

My Top 3 Summer Baits
Просмотров 3015 месяцев назад
The Summer heat is on with temps over 100* but the fishing can be even hotter when you find the right patterns. Today we make a trip to local lake to show you 3 of my favorite baits for summertime fishing. I started out the morning throwing a white fluke on grass edges before moving into some matted floating grass to get on a good frog bite. I eventually get on a deeper drop and call up some bi...
Flood Warning! Tournament on a Flooded River.
Просмотров 6276 месяцев назад
Today I’m fishing a tournament on a flooded Mobile river. The river was above flood stage and pushed up in the woods as far as you could see. I ended up going way up a creek looking for water that was still in its banks and found some fishable areas around a couple bridges. The trusty wacky rigged Senko really bailed me out on this one with some tough fishing.
Best 3 Fishing Knots
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.6 месяцев назад
With so many videos and opinions on fishing knots it can be hard to know which ones you need. With over 30 years of fishing experience and countless days of trial and error Ive narrowed it down to only 3 knots. In this video I'll teach you how to tie the only 3 knots that I use. 1 Improved Clinch knot. This is probably one of the most wide known knots and I’d be willing to bet the first knot mo...

Pleasure talking with you on the water and at Loco's! Once again thanks for making to drive out West! See you in Texas brother!
Absolutely. See you there
@@garrettwadefishing 💪
Good grief ,dude lol 😂 See ya on the Wendell show
Great video, brother!!! This got me going, ready to head to Kissimmee in two days. This video saved me a week in an installation shop. The PVC wand was what I needed to see, and yours was cheap, super quick, and no bushings/brackets, or any of the other stuff to mess with. Good job, man! See you at Kissimmee Chain!
Thanks brother. I’ll be there just have to find a camping spot
0:04 0:05 May this new year, bring many sweet memories and peaceful times. I wish you a prosperous new year. If not for your support, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I really appreciate having you as a supportive fan of mine.❤️❤️
Wow, that’s them male alligators bellowing!! Females do it but theirs isn’t as deep. Also, female alligators only reach 8.5” in length.
Was definitely some big boys
Nice Dude!!
Thanks
His initials are CMP. Closed Mouth Penalty.
Believe it or not his mouth actually closed without a crack. However he did have the biggest bubba lip I’ve ever seen.
Like many will be, back here in late December'24 in study for the Bassmaster Kayak event. Whassup, Garrett?? Great vid man!!!
Thanks. I should probably hide this video for a little while. 🤣
Great review. Thanks for sharing this content.
Glad it helped.
Hello brother I have a question for you, on the triple threat mount installation do you remove the original black cover
Yes I do.
@ Roger that sir thank you
No problem
Bowfin or "dogfish". Great fighters, very strong, like a catfish that jumps!
They are definitely strong. Will wreck a spinnerbait in a hurry
Mud fish
steve the ferious catfish
It was a Bowfin
Snakehead or bowfin
Bowfin
Bubba. No question. That was Bubba.
Larry is now the fish’s “name” 😂
I guess I should have seen this coming
Larry the Bowfin.
Bowfin is correct. We call them Grinnel in Alabama
Larry The largemouth bass
Largemouth bass
@josephjstoner it was a Bowfin. We call them Grinnel here in Alabama
@@garrettwadefishing Now it see it after watching it again it's a bowfin
What trailer are you using? Keep the videos coming.
👀Strike king menace.
No caddo video?
Afraid not. Go Pros have been giving me fits this year. I recorded this one on my new insta360 so hopefully will have more consistent content coming out.
Massive carp!! I've fished that first spot you went a handful of times and it usually hit or miss. I hate that yall got some crappy conditions during the TOC but that's part of the game I guess.
It was still decent fishing and great fishing for the couple guys that figured it out.
That’s a big fish! 😮
You bet it was
That’s a heavy fish!
Yeah it was. I about didn’t get it lifted for the picture
Nice fish! 😂
Thanks 😅
Woah
It was a giant. I’ll post the full video later
I'd love to see one of these tested on a high efficiency hull thats designed for higher speeds.
I’ve heard of people getting 7+mph with lighter kayaks.
That’s a big fish
It sure is
9.5 lb
Not quite that big. She was only 22.75”
7lbs 2oz
I would say right there. 22.75” pre spawn
8 pounds 3 ounces locked in😤
I’m not sure it was that big.
5
Definitely bigger than that
7lbs
Mine thought!!!
It was definitely in that 7lb class
22.75” pre spawn
those are insane speed given the kayak is not made for it .
It pushes it along good.
This guy will delete any comments that don’t favor the nk300👎👎shame on u the top speed is worthless unless your only going for an hour so what’s the point bragging about it shouldn’t put it in current and watch the battery die
I didn’t delete any of your comments. And I can go top speed for 12 miles drop it down to 80% and go over 15. Your just being a troll
Your comments are on the other video not this one. 🤣
All the videos I watch on Nk300 are misleading this will kill your battery super fast if you go over 50% so to get a 36v setup$$$$ to do what xi3 wil do on 12v is waste of money? I own Xi3 and have never killed the battery
I go 15-20 miles a day on this setup at 5.5 mph. I think I’ll keep it.
@@garrettwadefishing I watched these videos and was all pumped up to get it and put it in current DOESN’T perform cut numbers in half I’m sure all you guys are affiliated with Newport👎👎
My numbers are 100% accurate. I did this video without so much as a discount. Nice try
@@garrettwadefishing BS I just want people to know the truth you guys are misleading shame don’t waste your money
So you bought a Newport and haven’t gotten it to 5.5-6mph?
Subbed because i randoly saw this dues truck on a bridge today 😂
That’s Awesome. Thanks
Have you encountered aquatic weeds with this motor, and how well did it do? Some of the best fishing is where there is pretty thick growth, so it is good to know if the motor just cut through them, or started to excessively vibrate or quite when fouled?
I’ve used it in the grass at Guntersville, Chick, and central Florida. It does really good but will get fouled up in thick grass at times. Typically pulling the motor up with the trim rope and throttling up will sling them off. I have found the innovative sportsman rock guard does help with the weeds. Hope that helps. If you decide to go that route you can use Garrett10 as your discount code and save 10%. I’ll also get a small commission off of it. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I use that motor in all my videos and have two video showing how I install steering for it.
@@garrettwadefishing Thanks for your direct experience and a device for fending off weeds and rocks. Your response has influenced my decision as to what electric outboard to purchase.
Glad I could help

Nice, love some frog fishin! Theyre supposed to be draining that area soon for that invasive plant species.
I saw that. Unfortunately that stuff will cover the entire lake if they don’t. It did make for some good frog fishing though.
Great video as usual. Do you use a specific cadence with your frog?
Thanks. I really just change it up based on how the fish want it. Sometimes it’s super slow and other times like this video I can fish it pretty fast.
i'm looking to put one of those on my bote rover aero which I'm sure is lighter and draws less water than that hobie. if you're getting 4.2mph at 30% draw, that's insane. there does seem to an inflection point around that 50% energy consumption. this is really great performance for 3hp equiv. for where I'm fishing, off the coast of southern california, I'm looking at a 3-4 mile radius from launch. i don't think I'd need to gas it past 40%. with my 55ah battery, 25 mile range is waaaaay more than I'd need. plus, once you get to the kelp beds, you go slow and stay there and maybe manuever around a bit. I'd probably run half that battery on a long day on the water. this is one of the best videos for information on exactly what the motor can do. much thanks!!!
Thanks. Glad it helped
thanks for the vidoe. when you transport teh kayak on highway, do you take the graphs off the crossbar or do you take the entire crossbar off? thanks
I actually leave the graphs and the crate on the kayak.
Sheeeeeeeeeesh
Big un
Cuda tube you woulda been on all-day 👍
Cuda tube? I’ll have to look into those before my next trip.
Hum? 50 Amp hour 12v battery is 600 watts. (Volts x amps). So you battery can provide 600 watts for one hour. Base on your math, at 50% you were using 464 watts. So divide your 600 watts available by 464 used and thats 1.29 hours or roughly an hour and a half. 1.5 hours at 5 mph is 7.5 miles. No where close to 19.8 (Remember that you must convert amp hours, a measure of charge to watt hours a measure of current) For example 400 watts is about 33.33 Amp hours at 12v..... What did I miss???
It’s a 36 volt motor so I’m using a 36volt battery. That should help your math
Thank you I saw that they have options for 12, 24 and 36 systems. I'm gathering the higher voltage is basically equated into higher levels of thrust ?
@wiley0714 basically yes. Higher voltage can usually be more efficient also. I’ve run the 24volt NK180 and 36volt NK300. Both are great motors. I run 60 AH batteries on both setups and that has always been more than enough capacity for long tournament and prefish days.
Have you had any issues with water coming up through the rudder and skeg deployment holes? I put the 36v 40a battery in the front and directly behind the seat. From 3/4 - full throttle water was actually coming into that rudder control compartment and then into the hull via the control cords. I racked my brain on the “leak” until I removed the Hobie mount and saw the water inside that housing. Not a deal breaker as I did a silicone deal with those holes to make them smaller but still functional. Just something I need to be mindful of. Awesome setup you’ve got btw
It’s possible I get a little water from that. I do get water in my hull some trips. Could be from that or around the drive because I stand in the front most of the day. Never really had enough to be worried with. I just scoop it out at the end of the day.
@@garrettwadefishing that 300 makes it hard to not push it 😆. I think the day I really noticed it I went probably 5mi full throttle to see how she did. Not enough to really matter but enough to get me to investigate
@TheHurtlacher I know what you mean. I just about have the tail end of my kayak under water when I’m loaded down and running hard
Go figures fishing in an off limits area. 🫣
Hardly.
Same lake year before. ruclips.net/video/SHUje9qSE2A/видео.html
Do you have any issues with all the weight on the tail end? I was thinking I would need to put the battery up in the nose of my PA14. Picking the NK300/Newport 36v40ah this weekend. Thanks
I don’t have any weight issues. My graphs and active Target module is in the front.
Getting ready to put this on my Native Slayer 12.5. There battery is only 40ah but it should be enough. By the way, gators can swim 20 mph😮
40ah will run all day if you don’t run it hard. I’ve had some friends kill a 50ah with the nk180 trying to keep up with me. That was after 13-15 miles
