The link you shared just now does not take me to a download page. Are you using a phone or a computer while trying to download the file? And are you referring to the excel file?

That is taking it a little further than I did with it. I would recommend diving into the raspberry pi hq camera documentation online and than going from there. Hope my project is a good starting point.

The white connector did have tolerances added. That part was cut back a bit in the final edit, but if did the video again I would have emphasized that more. 0.4 mm on everything but the top and bottom surface. I like the idea of combining rods and 3d prints, but I was more interested in just 3D printing it. This is both just cause I think the technology is cool and I wanted to maximize how much of the build volume I could use while matching the dimensions of the original and because I honestly didn’t think about that. I feel like linear rods like those found on 3D printers would have worked well for this. Thanks for the sub!

With that said it is pretty sturdy with just the printed parts! I think it’s more than fine for the intended purpose on holding clothes. If you were putting some heavier stuff on it I’d consider that more strongly.

I should have designed something a littleee better. I watched a Morley video where he made a massive chair recently and I really liked how he joined the pieces!

I love the aesthetic of those old colorful plastics! Hopefully I communicated that some in this design :)

Those were milk crates. Grocery stores would stack them up outside behind the store for the dairy truck to pickup and return to the milk processing plant. When only a few of them went missing, no one really cared that much but once it became common, especially with university students, to grab dozens of them for free storage, laws were passed to deter theft. Many grocers also started storing the empty bins inside until the truck came to pick them up. With that source of bins drying up, companies started making similar crates for sale but they weren't anywhere near as durable as the milk crates. They also became a sign of poverty so the crates were avoided by those who wanted to be seen as too well off to need stolen milk crates.

I think there are a lot of cases where you’re right. But some people do still prefer slab phones and iPhones in particular. I think this could still be useful to flip phone owners in some situations, shooting talking head shots from a greater distance for instance, but they wouldn’t be the primary target audience.

Great question! I actually don’t have a great reason for the camera cable being external. The cable that was included was longer than I wanted it to be and due to resource constraints, I was in college at the time, I didn’t want to go out and buy a shorter cable. My suggestion would be to look for a cable that would fit your design more appropriately! I’d love to see your build once you complete it, if there’s anyway you could tag me or ping me on social when you release it!
