    do you know where I can find the “vmac belt” ? My system needs servicing “vr150” but I no longer use it and don’t want it running in the back. And want it turned off when truck engine is running. Thank you! Love your videos

      Good afternoon. The system should not run when engine is running unless the clutch is engaged by turning on the switch. Are you wanting a replacement belt or to remove the belt?

    • @estebanbeltran3299
      @estebanbeltran3299 20 дней назад

      @@precisionnc originally but I notice when the truck is running the belt for the compressor is going as well. The system isn’t going fully as like you said you need to activate it with the park brake. But I was wondering if there was something I could disconnect from the battery that goes to the vmac to have it not run if you get what I am saying. I was told the oem white cable with blue stripe but it’s directly attached to something else. Any idea on how to do that?

    • @precisionnc
      @precisionnc 20 дней назад

      @estebanbeltran3299 the pulley will always be turning but compressor is only engaged if center of the pully is turning. If that is happening when compressor is off then you might have a bigger problem but an easy fix. If you just wanting to disengage it so it doesn't come on then just unplug the single white wire on the compressor. Your more than welcome to send me a video of the issue you have and ill help get the problem solved. Let me know if this is on interest and I will send my email over

    To make the Chinese clones "good enough" you can use Parker filters. This said, the Chinese filters clog very easily; I tend to replace mine after every long trip. They are dirt cheap, and compared to the cost of diesel, I barely even notice. I buy a bulk box of them on Amazon every year. This said, the Parker filters have substantially more surface area and work better at blocking water. Lastly, to get close to the "real thing", replace all the cheap hardware (bolts, washers, nuts) with stainless or be willing to oil everything down (the bare minimum is to wipe it down with WD40). In a nutshell, the Chinese stuff cuts corners on fit, form, and finish. I have lots of clones. They work...but not great. I will always take a used Racor (when I can find them at the consignment shop) over the clones.

    I have found that using a plastic squeegee, like that used with Bondo, is a better tool to spread epoxy. A plastic squeegee won’t pull the thread that is used to hold the chop strand to the woven fabric in 1708. Which is what appeared to be what you experienced while rolling your layup.

    • @precisionnc
      @precisionnc Год назад

      That's a good idea. I'll try that when the project starts back up again. It was also recommended from the epoxy company to switch to 1700 instead of 1708, and that would reduce the amount of epoxy needed

      @precisionnc what should I use and how to laminate two 3/4 in Coosa Boards together PlUS I need an additional. 25 in of thickness in that middle bond to get 1.75 thickness for my Transom project on an Aluminum boat? Wondering the LEast Expensive route. I can't afford much on retired money.. Thinking 1708 Matt and Epoxy resin, but I don't know. There will be bolts through the Coosa in the transom also

    Not sure what type of glass you're using but oftentimes you'll find it comes with a styrene coating on the fibers which dissolves in polyester resin but doesn't with epoxy, due to the chemical composition differences. Might be the reason for the white in the glass when you were done.

    • @precisionnc
      @precisionnc Год назад

      Your exactly right. Later I had the epoxy company come in and show me everything I was doing wrong. They pointed that out as well. Great catch!! Thanks for commenting

    • @rjr4084
      @rjr4084 Год назад

      You are spot on with the styrene binder on chop strand mat. That's why one should never use epoxy with chop strand. In the previous video it was stated that 1708 is being used here. On 1708 no binder is used on the chopped strands, the chop strand is stitched or sewn to the woven fabric, this eliminates the need for the styrene binder that is used on purely chop strand mat and is why 1708 is a very popular fabric to use with epoxy resin. White patches in a layup of 1708 and epoxy is a sign of a dry layup, either the epoxy kicked early preventing it from fully encapsulating the glass or there was not enough resin to completely saturate the glass. I have also found that Coosa will absorb resin much like wood, it requires a rather heavy application of resin to be applied then let it set for 15 or 20 minutes before laying the glass on it. If not the Coosa will suck the resin right out of the laminate causing random light areas that look much like dry layup.

      @@rjr4084 Thank you for that! I am about to start replacing the cockpit on my Dyer 29. I have done plenty of fiberglass cloth set in epoxy resin (We need to develop a name for the process) over marine ply and MDO but I have never used Coosa. Good to know that it sucks up epoxy like wood.

    Well do you have any advice or tips you can share about how you did pull the motor I have the same boat and same issues also where are you located

    • @precisionnc
      @precisionnc 2 года назад

      I found that having 2 chain hoist so you could constantly adjust angle was the way to go. It will come out without removing transmission and etc. I didn't remove anything from the motors but it is tight. If using a crane like mine the boom has to sit all the way on engine due to clearance between cabin top and crane boom. One of the booms the marina uses might be easier but I just used what I had. It was a 10k truck crane. I'm based out of nc. If you have any issues, let me know and I'll do my best to help. Good luck with the removal.

    Hello from the high desert of New Mexico USA 🇺🇸. I just found your channel and I liked and subscribed. I am interested in the 500fg series can you please do a comparison video of the Racor and the copies, in particular the heater is interchangeable. Keep up the good work and stay safe and God bless you and your family and America 🇺🇸

    • @precisionnc
      @precisionnc 2 года назад

      I can see what we have here but don't think we have anymore of the 500 with heaters. We didn't do a video but found the 500 knockoff to be fairly close as well. Needs better hardware and filter but overall design is very comparable. I would guess the heaters might work but the thread might be different on the knockoff

  • @MrHealey01
    @MrHealey01 2 года назад

    Many thanks seems like one could sensibly upgrade the hardware of the alternative to bring it up to very similar standard. Corrosion control I am thinking might not be as good, and that is of importance to a marine installation, but again isolating the steel mounting bands and applying a more robust paint scheme may well work fine. It does appear the filter elements are interchangeable.

    • @precisionnc
      @precisionnc 2 года назад

      I would agree that upgrading hardware and etc would make it more robust. Filters are interchangeable and would always suggest a good brand of filter to protect the fuel system on the engine. I have had the "knockoffs" running on a backup generator for over a year now and seem to be doing just fine. I did change the filter to a Racor though.

      I will be having it blasted. After trying numerous different approaches, some more successful than others it is still way to much time in getting the 1/4 inch of bottom paint removed. I did pick it up very reasonable which is why I was able to justify moving it so far just to tear it down to the bare hull. Thanks for commenting and following along.
