Informative review. Thank you
Really need this
Total overkill using an LVL for that beam span. You must love to piss away money.
Just ordered one, and some 2.5" nails. Should be here tomorrow.
Put a high output battery on that M12 and it is much closer...
Yes to prevent rotation and because the code says for same reason also tells you where required. But put as many as you wish after that Lol.😊
Drivers all day, not a big fan of impacts unless im on a ladder or something where I cant brace that well
we made a homemade chute mounted on steel saw horses. worked off a pallet not having to lift the bags to high. would mix a bag a minute ...ruclips.net/video/GPQHAs85CDo/видео.html
Do the wiggle test again, once the deck boards are on. Would be keen to see the difference, if any.
Maybe it looked that you was not using the adjustment to its full use, as other videos I have seen the nails have been going beneath the surface.
Is it just me or is the M18 Gen 3 impact super uncomfortable when driving longer screws like these? It feels like I have to hold on for dear life when the tool starts to impact.
The one downside, and why I’ll pick up my dewalt for lighter jobs. It’s unbalanced and clunky. Works well, but doesn’t feel good in the hand despite how stubby it is.
@@madjackgamingandfitness498 I like all of Milwaukee's previous impact drivers. But the Gen 3 doesn't feel too good when driving long screws. The Gen 2 m12 impact is smooth as well as the almighty Surge. I also have the Bauer impact drivers and they are so good to work with
Just used my 16G for the first time today, I can't tell you how much easier it made my project (paneling walls in an attic way). Next I have the steps and risers and some trim moulding. The nail gun was difficult to find as none of the big stores or local hardware stores sold them. Finally found one on Amazon after looking for about three months. This is an awesome tool, it's safe to say that Milwaukee "nailed" it!
Uhhh-Dude- That thing looks like 98% the same thing as my 5cf Yardmax mixer. The only 2% difference seems to be in the paint difference. Great review- Thx!
Big difference 👍🏻
I have found that with any 18v or 20v driver lubrication should be done prior to gun going dry. Lubricate upside down so oil can get to pump, oil rails to. Secondly. Don’t dial power settings to light. Know how to adjust depth and don’t buy CHEAP NAILS.
You put it in the crack no wonder it goes in faster
That's what she said
Can somebody help me please, I have this 15ga, now Milwaukee released the 16ga, I am really confused on what is the difference between the 15ga and the 16ga, also differences in applications! Do I have to get the 16ga if I already own the 15ga?
15GA you would want for slightly heavier applications. The 16GA is a slightly smaller fastener, but still beefy compared to an 18GA brad nail. If you already have the 15GA, I doubt you need the 16GA.
You are required to buy one of everything
Found this video just last night, many years later. I have the same problem with my P325, and it was new when I purchased it, not reconditioned like yours. As an experiment, I set the air pressure regulator lever all the way to the left (minus), and the micro depth adjustment all the way counter-clockwise so the nail sets at minimum depth. I used a strip of 1" nails, and it barely drove the nails into the pine 2 x 4 - about 1/2" of the nails were protruding above the wood. I did the opposite, and set the lever all the way to the right (plus), and the micro adjust all the way in for maximum nail depth. At these settings, it drove the nails very well, and set them a reasonable depth below the surface. However, when I set the lever half way between + and -, and the micro depth half way, I got the same inconsistent results. Some nails drove fine, while others stuck above the wood quite a bit. I did try it on a more solid surface, and it did improve the nail depth a bit more consistently, but not "perfect." I even tried cleaning the tool with Paslode Cordless Tool Cleaner spray, then lubing it with Paslode Cordless Tool Lubricating Oil. Both these excellent products work incredibly well on my other two Ryobi cordless nailers and Ryobi narrow crown stapler. With the P325, I got a little better results, but nothing to "write home about." All this time, I thought I was the only one with this issue - thanks for the video!
Unfortunate that you had to deal with this! I don't have anything against Ryobi stuff, but this one was a fail for me.
i bought this last year as i had bought the impact driver that came with 2 batteries and a charger on a deal in 2022 so i used the 2nd battery from there for this. i love it. takes 63mm nails and its really powerful! battery lasts many hours for what i use it for. its heavy but thats an advantage in some situations. feels well built.
How heavy is it compared with the DeWalt 16g nailer?
Nice!
20° thank you hard to get that information from anywhere else
You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by!
Got this recently off of Amazon, brand new in box. The nails that came in the box won't fire and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Any tips? When I test fire, the air and actuator leave a mark in the wood. The nails that came with it are ~1.5"? Thoughts? Tips?
Did you figure it out? If there is a mark in the wood then the gun is firing properly. First thing to check is that the pusher on the magazine is feeding the nails 2:40. Also, check if there is a nail jammed in either the magazine or the nose-piece 1:32. Last thing, make sure that you loaded the nails the right way, it is possible to load them backwards. When all else fails, read the instruction manual.
Are you sure you have the correct angled nails?
I found some ~2” in nails and those work! The nails that came with the nailer ~1.5” were not working. So all is well now. Thanks!!!
M12 lineup is for your “weekend warrior/ DIY” folks and the M18 is for the professionals or the folks who just got more money. I just finished rebuilding my 400 sqft deck with a M12 impact driver and my only regret was not having a bigger battery. I just took a lot of breaks lol
Just buy more batteries? I use my m12s for professional work as i can get them in smaller places that an m18 cant. Not sure what you’re yapping about.
@@joemumma6776 I’m commenting about the difference between the M12 and M18 tools and gave my experience using a M12 impact driver. I love that impact driver but I’m not just gonna buy more batteries… I’ll wait for their deals to come out and get a tool plus a bigger battery. Like I said, I’m just a weekend warrior so I have no need to just go buy more batteries. That’s what I’m yapping about
As an electrician I go throughout my whole day using my M12s with no issues on batteries 🤷🏽♂️ Just make sure you have 2-3 completely juiced but normally won’t even go through a full charge on my XC4.0 or my 2.5 high output
M12 can get it done, it just may take slightly longer, lol!
@@hawaiiantimes7702shut up! Fuel is the “pro brand” most use festool, makita, and even rigid honestly for the value, but you should use a an actually screw driving drill, with a chuck and a clutch you green horn ignorant ass. 😂
I'm glad the forward lower leg tube didn't buckle like so many others have. Seems like that tube is much weaker than the rest of the frame. Look at reviews like found on Home D., etc.
I had no idea that was an issue! Never had a problem with mine.
Camera focus tip, if possible set the focus to infinity ♾️ mode
Appreciate it!
I'm getting this because I want it to take on finishing work but also step up to wood paneling and a bit larger stuff. I know the 1,2mm 18ga leaves smaller holes. But I'm not bothered by the larger hole.
Nice!
Im looking to purchase the same nailer how do you it so far?
Love it! Has worked fantastic for me overall.
Thank you! have a blessed day. @@ToolsWithAdrius
am i the only one who think he sounds like seth rogan?
The whole Hollywood thing didn't pan out for me, so I'm giving RUclips a shot!
Good review.
Much appreciated! Thank you for stopping by.
Put then all 3 on a job site. Metabo will out preform them all.
Metabo is the best. By far.
Their triple hammer is my absolute favorite impact!
I use to use dewalt but always wanted a Milwaukee. By accident I got a Metabo and will never use the others again. So much better. Plus u get mekita brand along with Metabo brand.
I like pretty much any brand of tool, truth be told!
Just bought a new one, the 2” nails won’t sink deep enough - I adjusted the depth all the way and set the power setting all the way up too and it still leaves 1/8” to 1/4” of the nails sticking out. Kinda bummed!
Sorry to hear that! I have nothing again Ryobi and hoping my nailer was a rare dud from them.
18v speed like hell
Impact driver go brrrrrr
I have the same gun as well as the 23 gauge, 18 gauge, narrow crown stapler and the framing nailer. The ONLY time I have had consistent failures like this is when I don't have a solid surface supporting the material or when I am not putting adequate downward pressure on the gun. I saw deflection of the material when the nail strike occurred as though it was on a card table and it appeared that the user was lifting at or near the point of impact. My guns rarely leave nails proud of the surface unless firing on too light of a setting while nailing hard walnut or oak.
I glad this specific nailer has worked well for you. I have nothing against Ryobi products and it's quite possible I happened to get a dud of a nailer!
I scored this baby for $80 from Facebook marketplace and it's such an amazing tool.
That's a steal for one of these, congrats!
I had the old Milwaukee M18 brushless and was debating on the Surge or the Gen 3 to replace my brushless. After seeing lots of reviews I went with the Surge. I’m glad I did because it’s so controllable and it’s so quiet. I picked up a Gen 3 M18 at a pawn shop for 75 bucks for kicks and giggles and I’m sure glad I bought the Surge first. That Gen 3 really overdrives screws without even trying. If your bit is long enough it’ll drive a deck screw entirely through a 2x4.
I love my Surge as well! The M18 definitely has a ton of power.
Kinda wish they had adaptor for non star lock blades.
That would be nice!
I had the 16g version of this gun and the punching power on this one is evident
Anyone know why Makita doesn't include the little urethane bumper cylinders in the battery hatch like they do for all their other tools? There are receptors for it, but neither my tool nor this one have any in the slots.
No idea!
How far are those joists canterlevered over the beam? Holy cow
The joists are 16' in total length, 4' of which is cantilevered over the beam. Within allowable dimensions.
@@ToolsWithAdrius 4 foot canterlever???? I hope you don’t have any fat friends walk over there!
@@strokerace4765 Four feet is within the 1/4 of total span rule of thumb. I have 2x10 joists that are 12" OC, I'm not worried!
The charts I have seen does not say 1/4 , but why not just drop two more posts and a beam?
@@strokerace4765 The main beam for the deck is 30 feet wide. To add a supplemental beam at the front would require another five posts and another expensive beam. What numbers have you come across for maximum cantilever?
I have the Milwaukee Gen 2 18GA brad, and the 23GA pin nailer. Would I need a 16GA or could I just skip that for the 15GA and be fine due to already having the 18GA for the smaller jobs?
I think you'd be fine going with the 18GA and the 15GA for the heavier stuff, yep!
More amazing is the 2x10 spanning 16' nice job must have some steel inside those puppies🤙🏻must mean 16 with the cantilev I'd hope
Lol correct, 16' board, 4' of which is cantilevered!
Mine jammed I don’t know how to unjam it
There should be a lever that lifts on the top side of the nailing tip. Also, check out your manual!
I love this router We use it in the shop and the jobsite for things we never considered a router for in the past
It's fantastic, that's for sure!
The M12 is plenty for deck screws but the M18 really shines for larger screws.
For sure! The M12 packs a punch, but like you said, the M18 really shows what it's capable of with the larger stuff.
Looks good. I have actually run my 887 DeWalt until it smoked out! Lots of heavy duty screws. Up to 5/16”. I am a multi platform guy, but am going to switch my impact driving to Milwaukee, it is faster. There is kind of a funny feeling you get when running 6-8” T30 or T40 screws uniting two treated 4x4’s and hoping it will not start smoking! I have also thought about the Bosch multi volt offering too, I do have several Bosch tools also.
Never a good sign when the magic smoke comes out!
Fein has been making the best multi tools for 20 years now, but this one is probably just as good. It’s by far the best you can buy from the big box stores.
I agree on all counts!
Man the m18 is a beast, haven’t got to use mine much as I just got it but it is definitely going to be nice when installing solar panels 👍🏽
It should have no problem screwing down the large bolts into the roof rafters for a solar install!
U drilled into a predrilled hole
Does anyone know of a replacement Belt clip for this nailer?
Hi there Samuel! I would try reaching out to Metabo directly, they might be able to send you one!
