One of my favorite, if not my favorite, characters from Legend of Korra. This video was great, perfect song choice for her character. I really wish Kuvira got more screen time in the show, specifically showing how she got to where she was in season 4. I just can’t get enough of her.
This was really sooo good!
I think she genuinely meant to help and wanted to create a safer and better Earth Kingdom, but absolute power corrupts absolutely and by the time she started second guessing herself it had gone too far and she couldn’t stop.
I mean I can really sympathise with her from start to finish. In fact i believe the LoK creators had to over-villain her to make the actual story work. She went from being an honourable soldier, to taking power because she felt she had to, to becoming a homicidal hitlerian dictator in the span of a couple months. Personally i think she deserved to be a hero. I mean think about it, the Earth Queen fell and the entire structure of the Earth Kingdom fell along with her. The entire continent was in absolute chaos. And she saw that no one was willing to stand up and fix it. Korra was gone, she implored Su, the most powerful person left on the continent, to help. And Su refused. Kuvira was an abandoned orphan. I guarantee she realised that as they sat in Zaofu being safe and secure, there was orphans being made all over the place. No trade, starvation and famines, bandits everywhere, etc. It’s no wonder she felt she had no choice but to buck up and do it herself. And at the start she only sought to re-establish the previous order, being the earth kingdom. But as we all know, the Earth Kingdom sucks ass. The monarchy is a joke. The enrichment of themselves on the backs of the needy. The nobility among the various Earth States and Vassals were no better. I guarantee as Kuvira went along creating order, she saw more and more ineffective, cruel leadership given to people just because they were born right. You can easily see where she got her anti-nobility anti-monarchy stance from. I bet she starting replacing leaders and changing governance to be better for cirrizens, more efficient. I mean she revolutionised travel and technology all across the nation, you cant do that without solid leadership. But she knew at the end of all of this work, she’d have to stand back and let Prince fucking Wu wake over. I mean the exact embodiment of the excess enrichment of the noble class. If i was Kuvira at that point, after saving all of those people and creating a stable society for them. I’d feel like I was betraying them by handing power back to an idiot corrupt king. I feel like Kuvira felt like she had no choice but to assume control to protect her people. In my opinion she made a much better world leader and fighter for the people than cartoonish villain that they kinda shoehorned her into by the end.

I think avatar korra had it a lot heavier with her evils then aang aang had only one big evil and korra had 4 humans who's trying to stop the avatar cycle and even where so strong to stop her for 3 years!
I agree. Korra had to face back to back enemies compared to Aang only facing one. In Book 3 when Korra was seeing her past enemies while being poisoned you could tell there was trauma present. Korra has this headstrong, stubborn and cheerful personality that you wouldn't know she was dealing with any traumas. Her being poisoned by Zaheer is what finally broke the camel back. Imagine coming back 3 years later and having to face two opponents while still recovering. "We got the poison out. What's wrong with her? - Jinora" shows that some people aren't aware that trauma doesn't only affect you physically, but mentally as well. *Two opponents - Kuvira and Korra's mental state.
