How much does a full motorcycle license cost in 2024 🤔🏍 #motorcycle #automobile #bikelife

As a new rider, I just wanted to share with you the cost of my licence. This is my own journey from CBT, theory, lessons, all the way to passing Mod 1&2 to obtain my full A motorcycle license. Please bear in mind that time was of the essence, and I wanted to pass before the end of summer. Therefore, whoever could book my tests in first (within my general locality) I went with. This increased my...

My first ever ride on my new Triumph Scrambler 400x after passing my test. The video covers 62 miles from my home on the English/Welsh border to Lake Vyrnwy, and back, it's a beautiful route with some amazing scenery. All recorded on a DJI Action 3 camera. Apologies for the excess wind noise. A new microphone is on the way!
Serene! what video settings are you using ? and also the camera ?
Thanks! I just have an old beat-up Dji Osmo Action 3 camera. It really is a wreak with smashed screen and damaged case. It's still good for 4k, 30fps though. I just have the standard settings with ultra wide view and image stabilisation. No filters or anything. The landscapes were shot on my Samsung 23 Ultra in 8k, 30fps. I'm a total amateur to filming, but trying to learn as I go really 👍
@@NewRiderDiaries I knew it! osmo action has that specific look to it and thats why I just wanted to confirm! I am interested in buying the new osmo action 5 pro. It sounds promising, love from India. Keep up the good work, looking forward for more such soothing videos
woah!!!
Can you put up a link to the screen you fitted? Thanks. Tim
Good start for a new channel. I’ve the same bike having moved from a T100 which at 63 was getting a tad too heavy to move around. Not had any of the reported issues but have changed to a 15 tooth front sprocket which I can’t recommend highly enough. I’ve also added the rear mudguard extender from Powerbronze as I was getting dirty water on the back of my jacket and helmet😅 Enjoy the bike and the experience as a new rider, it certainly takes me back to the fun and excitement of my first bike. Ride safely.
Thanks mate, that's nice of you to say! I didn't think filming my rides would be so much fun! I have the 15 tooth sprocket ready to go, so hopefully I'll have it installed in the next couple of weeks. Good tip on the mudguard extender too, I'll check that out as I got covered in mud last ride out. As for the fly screen, here is the one. It just needs longer M8 screws, but looks really good and is cheap as chips! amzn.eu/d/4jzugYf
Spectacular ! look forward to the next one James.
Thanks mate, appreciate it. This road trip will take some beating, that's for sure!!
Hi James enjoyed the video! i would be interested in seeing how you get on changing the sprocket?as comments appear to make the bike better? I take delivery of my 400x next week! i was going to wait until next spring with the colder months fast approaching it might be laid up for a few weeks not being used? but the dealer offered as discount of £300 so decided to go for it.I agree the bike does look better with the bar end mirrors& minus the hand guards.
Thanks mate, really appreciate it! I should be changing the sprocket on it this week or next, but I can't wait to get it done and see how it rides afterwards! Great choice on the bike, too - honestly, you won't regret it, and it sounds like you had a great deal! All the best, and enjoy the bike 👍
@@NewRiderDiaries look forward to it
Great breakdown. Just forwarded this video to few of my mates in the UK. Persuading them to get their license done so we can do some long trips together 😀 things we do to enter midlife
Thanks mate, appreciate that! It was absolutely the best thing I've done in a long time and I'm sure your mates will love it once they have their licence! All the best 👍
Great start to the channel. Just came across your channel. New rider myself, finishing up with tests very soon and get riding 😊
Thanks mate, really appreciate that! All the best with your tests 😀
A lot.
A great ride out i have not took my 400x over snowdon yet but i think its a must do . plus regarding younger potential riders take a look at the bankrupt bikers channel he has touched on this subject and i think your a great advert for what he was saying he also rides a 400x amongst others
@alienbiker5036 thanks mate! I would highly recommend this route for sure. I'm not sure the camera really picks up quite how incredible the landscape is! Great tip on the bankrupt guy, I actually already subscribe and saw that vid. I think what he was saying was spot on, and these bikes are a great way for new riders to start out on 👍
I always love it over Wales and Snowdonia is a great ride even in the rain, there is always something with a bike that's not quite right but the triumph looks like a quality bike, always have a go it's a good way of getting to know your machine
@andyjdaviestjk it's such a good place to ride. Feeling very lucky to live so close by! Defo agree about the bike too, I think I'll always be looking to tweak something and can't wait to get stuck in 🙂
Great video mate i passed my mod 2 this week and looking to get my first bike soon
Thanks, mate! Well done on passing Mod 2 - such a great feeling, isn't it! What bike are you thinking of getting?
@@NewRiderDiaries yh mate better then passing my car test for sure i was thinking possibly something like a 390 ktm adventures Himalayan or maybe a nc750s i learnt on a 750 hornet which was nice power
That's awesome! Some great choices there. I nearly went with the CB500x - can't go wrong with a Honda! Love the new Himilayan too. All the best mate 👍
@@NewRiderDiaries thanks mate i will Keep watching your content as its great keep up the good work 🙏🏼
@@maxm1316 thanks mate appreciate it 👍
Wow
Just discovered your channel and enjoying your vids. I bought the same bike last month and absolutely love it. Stay safe :)
Thanks mate, appreciate it! It's such a good bike, and I'm made up with it. Ride safe too pal 👍
Another good video mate. The risers should help your shoulders. When your doing them maybe you might turn your Triumph handlebar tube the riight way up LOL. I may join you for a rideout sometime on my Triumph as i am only in Shrewsbury. Would give you some different footage. Dale.
Thanks mate, appreciate it! I'm hoping the risers will sort me out, just a long wait for the part to arrive now. I'll be sure to put the tube on the right way, too. Good spot, and I never even really noticed it before 😂😂 I would be great to meet up for a ride out. I'll probably be setting up an instagram soon, so it will be easy to sort as I'm often around Shrewsbury! All the best mate 👍
I discovered that bridge the other week by accident. Its pretty cool
I had a good ride last night, might of passed you at Knockin. Fuel at Ellesmere is mega cheap at the moment. Morrisons isn't bad though and has the pay at pump. I typically end up there.
That was me - this was filmed the other night, bit I did go back that way last night too! Small world haha Ellesmere is great at the moment. Picking up 2 jerry cans today so I'll be going back tonight 😂
@@NewRiderDiaries nesscliff petrol price was 126.9/litre today. In case you still need to fill those jerry cans up
@AnonyMooseUK thanks mate! Although I bought some jerry cans and filled up in Ellesmere this morning. Just got home after another 140 miles. What a day!
Hey James, do the bar end mirrors fit well on the scrambler? I’m planning to replace mine as well.
Hi mate, I bought mine off Amazon. They are not a perfect fit, but by taking off the hand guards (and making a few other adjustments), I got them to work. I'm going to upgrade to the TEC bar end mirrors soon as they are a perfect fit. Visibility much improved, though, and they look miles better than the stock imo 👍
Blimey, looks like you live in the same town as me too. I have my mod 1 and 2 in a few weeks. So give me a shout if you want a riding buddy. Stil on my 125 ktm at present.😂
Haha no way! I'm definitely up for that mate, even on your 125 (as you can see I'm a snail 😂), and best of luck on your tests. I'll sort out an IG at some point and link it on the channel so just drop me a message 👍
@@NewRiderDiaries am just about to invest in a decent camera too and start creating videos too. As the scenery here is so good. If you haven't done it yet, go to Bala, then to lake vrynwy via the back roads and home. It's a lovely ride out
@@AnonyMooseUK that was my thoughts exactly! Great tip on the route, I'll give that a good for sure 👍
I also live local, was all around that area on Sunday. Chirk, Llangollen, Trevor, Glyn ceirog. Went down some of the dodgiest farm tracks lol. Went on the panoramic view over Llangollen too when the sun comes out. Well, a bit
@AnonyMooseUK that's brilliant, mate. We live in such a great area for biking! This route is one of my favourites for sure, and I have experienced a few dodgy farm tracks around here too lol. I went over the top from Glyn Ceirog to Llangollen the other day, and it was scary!! Wish I had my camera that day 😂😂
@@NewRiderDiaries that's the route I took on the way back. Sat nav packed up half way and I went for miles on that long straight road at the top, until it got really hairy muddy farm tracks. Made it back though. Like you say, living here is epic. I had two weekends around Snowdonia during the sunny days. Strangling my 125cc 😁
Do you need an A2 licence to ride this bike or is it an A licence?
It's A2 compliant! If I had an A2 license, the Scrambler (or the Speed 400) would be top of my list 👍
A2 is under 400cc or under 35kw, I think this bike is over 35kw but 398cc so yes!
@@NewRiderDiaries thank u very much boss
Nice bike!
Sure is!
Great video again James!
Thanks mate. Appreciate it 😀
Great POV video. I'm looking forward to receive my Scrambler 400X which is planned to be delivered on first week of November! looking forward to your upcoming videos as well!
Thanks, mate! Great choice on the bike too - you won't regret getting it 😀
Very nice video.
Thank you very much!
Well done young man. your set up is very good. Visuals more than acceptable, audio very very good. Your commentary is better than lots of youtubers that have been at it for 20 years. The cream on the cake is your choice of first bike. Perfect cc for someone new and premium quality. Hope you enjoy motorcycling for the rest of your life as i have. Dale.
Thanks for the kind feedback, Dale. I really appreciate that! I totally agree with everything you have said about the bike, too. I don't think i could have made a better first choice, and the 400cc is more than enough for me now. I can't wait to get more miles under my belt on this amazing machine 😀
@@NewRiderDiaries Its not bike of the year by MCN for no reason and many other awards recently although i am biased because i never buy anything other than Triumph LOL
@dalechamberlain7767 I think I'll be the same as you. I'm only 3 weeks and certain I'll be a Triumph guy! To think I nearly got an Enfield. Thanks again mate 👍
Hi James , glad your enjoying the bike , lucky enough to have the same bike amongst my steeds and am thoroughly enjoying it , I personally prefer the bike with the 15 tooth sprocket and for me definitely adds to the enjoyment of the bike on the road , nice to see the familiar roads as I’m only down the road from you on route to Welshpool , enjoy !!
Thanks, mate! I think you're right - the 15 tooth sprocket will be a big improvement for road riding. I've just ordered the part now, so I should have it up and running in a week or so. I was over Welshpool way on the bike at the weekend funnily enough. Some great roads to explore 😀
If you don't mind me asking, which model or size Kriega bag do you have? It looks like it fits the back seat very well.
@adamschmidt5712 it's the Kriega Drypack US-5ltr - it fits the back seat perfectly and is such a good bit of kit - I would highly recommend it 👌
@@NewRiderDiaries Thank you sir! I do not have a Scrambler (yet) but have been researching accessories already. Hopefully in the next few months!
I have rode bikes for the last forty years and bought the 400x has a second bike for the work commute and down the lanes during winter but this bike is more than the sum of its parts so its going to be a keeper
It's such a good bike! I planned to use it as a stepping stone to bigger and better things, but I may also hold on to it long term. Enjoy it mate 😀👍
Great commentary! Can’t wait to pick up my scrambler soon
Thanks mate, appreciate it! It really is a great bike, and I can't rate it highly enough. Enjoy 😀 👍
If i was you i would use a bemoto 2 rather than your phone the silver one matches your clock and takes up less space also the comfort seat looks great but not any better than the standard one. Also get a optimate battery charger i think the lead is fitted as standard under the seat wecome too 2 wheels
@alienbiker5036 I've just checked out that GPS, and it looks class. I really hate my phone on the bars - looks like an ipad so it needs to change! Will be getting a battery charger for the winter, too, so I'll check that out, too. Thanks mate 👍👍
