That would bring you all the way to the 10th fret. People don't end up playing key of G shapes much past the 7th fret or so. Key of G shapes are great for key of G, A, B, and C, most commonly- key of C being capo on the 5th fret. When you get jntl keys beyond that (like D, E, and, per your question, key of F), you really need to move to a key of A shape or key of C shape chords.

It certainly can be, and in the Nashville Chording system, it is the "3 minor." However, most commonly in modern music, rather than the 3 being a minor, the 3 position is most often a "1 over 3," or in this case, an "E over G#." The circle of chords I present is what is most common, not what the traditional viewpoint is. To summarize, the 3 chord can be a minor, or can be an "over chord," depending on the song, and usually, it's the "over chord."

Hello @answerguy! That's not right. What you do is follow where your G chord lands, not necessarily what fret your capo gets put on. If you know your top (low E string) notes, where you press down that G chord, that's the key that you're now in. Capo 1 moves that G chord up one note, to G#. Now on capo 1 you are in the key of G# if you're playing "key of G chords." Everything shifts. If you go to a D chord shape on capo one, what comes out is now a D#. C shape chord nlw yields a C# chord. The Em is tricky because right after E note is an F note. So when you play an Em chord shape on the first fret, what now comes out is an Fm chord. Capo 2 would bring that key to the key of A. On capo 2, ever chord comes up a full letter. G shape is npw an A chord (A is after G), C chord shape yields a D chord, D chord shape yields and E chord, and the Em shape yields an F#m. I know it's tricky! Hope these videos help. That was a great question and the good news for you is that EVERYONE gets confused by this stuff for a Long Time! Stick with it and keep speaking the language. It'll eventually make more sense.

Right key. Different chord shapes. Originally the song is dropped a half step and starts on the C chord. Capoing on the 4th fret in standard tuning and playing a G shape chord yields the same exact notes. There's more than one way to skin a cat.
