Good story// Great narration !!’ Thanks. 9:29:21
A great story and the reading was good. Thanks!
Very enjoyable and quaint. Tanks to Mary Ann for narration.
Poor resdeing
I do like Howard Skyman. He reads nicely. He doesn't do the overly dramatic voice acting ... which sometimes does not work. He just reads, and to my ear quite nicely 👍 * I'm enjoying this story, thank you *
Thank you for bringing this story to us. Clearly narrated. 🎉

The latter Harry potter books are longer.
you sound by Jimmy Stuart I like it
Last story, disturbing racism-- very Edwardian
So very well read! I should have thought that Trent's declaration of love to Mabel - one of the most moving passages of romantic expression I have encountered - wouldn't sound right unless it were read by a male voice. You have proved me completely wrong! Altogether a marvellous rendering. Thank you!
This story perhaps is a bit autobiographical on the part of *Wallace*
Sorry do t like the narrator
Thanks for the nice story. Great reader.
Admittedly, I was uncertain about his way of reading when first I heard him. Now I appreciate his voice, his unwavering style. Comforting, yes, totally. To my ear, he's really enjoying himself here. And so am I 💯 👍 * Great story, I like this author *
Great story. Good narration. Thanks !!
I can't take her anymore, flat reading with no emotion at all.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Wonderfully narrated! I wish I had that talent!!! 🏆👏👏👏
Love his style. Very comforting 🎉
What strange intonation the professor has!
Wonderful narration!!!!
although i thank roger melin for his prolific work for librivox, his style can be hard to take. nevertheless, far from the worst.
on the scale of librivox readers, i give her 7/10, pretty OK
Good story 🐬

Now I feel like going on holiday to check it out 😂😂
How I love entering Thorndyke’s world. Secure, ordered, infallible. As a craftswoman/artist the clever arcane methods used in Polton’s workshop - moulds, photography, gelatine castings and chemistry are so intriguing. I love the gentle humour and insights into everyday life of the period. Totally satisfying!❤❤ 3:46:18
I think that the difficulty with this narration--is the quality of the recording. The deeper voices, particularly, have a fuzziness and a buzz.
Excellent! Actually, 2nd time around
Interesting and a true mystery; many twists along the way too! Nice job on the narration, Mary Ann.
Well, I made allowances for the reader's interpretations, until she went for a ridiculously offensive pseudo Japanese accent. The text is racist enough without her going all Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Beautiful narration👏 of a gently intriguing story. Listening in Donegal Ireland.☘ Thank you for sharing.

wow, the reason why I enjoy these books from another era is all in this production. The values, language and customs are somewhat different but human motives are very much the same in any time.
terrible sing-song reader. 7:30 tuesday. nov 2_. why does he not…
Really enjoying this!!❤
Great and pleasant surprise … can hardly wait.
It is The witness for the defence and not the witness 'of' the 'defiance'
Corrected. Good catch! Thanks for reminding us of the typo.
Well, I disagree - and think you do this lady a great disservice - I admit the opening growly voice was a surprise at first but I found this lady made an excellent job of narration - her pace, emphasis and atmosphere was absolutely spot on, so much that it was easy to become engrossed in the story, recognising each character as they reappeared - I'm near the end of this and have added epilogue of Cleek to listen to next and will certainly search for more Ruth Golding narrations. Admittedly there are some pretty dire librivox recordings - this however, is one of the very best I've heard. I usually prefer listening to male voiced narrations - love Bitesized Audio Classics for one but this lady gets my wholehearted approval (Anne Fletcher, for other narrations, does too)
Carolyn wells stories are brilliant and superbly read by Richard Kilmer.
Absolutely brilliant sorry to say goodbye but I’m sure to be returning soon Thank you so very much from all of your wonderful readers ❤🦻🦻🦻🦻💚💚💚💚💚
Oh I so love Cleek!
Very good enjoying this storie 😅
What era is this set in?
“On this particular Saturday in ‘97”…… I guess 1897.
I agree a male voice would be better. I'd also prefer a straight read. I don't care for different voices for different characters. At least not here.
i could refer you to a librivox recording of a guy doing character voices, that would send you weeping from the room in panic, fortunately i have blocked it out to the extent i cant remember which one.
Agree. Sadly the narrator’s voice doesn’t match the story. Needs stronger, voice, (preferably male).
Tastes are different as always I guess. I simply love her narration. I should add that I often prefer male narrators for these older detective novels.
Also it's not riddled with ads, bonus upon bonus.
Wow what a wonderful surprise, a fantastic narrator of what promises to be a very good book. Thank you.
