Happy New Year. Hi my name is Michelle I set up an email in my daughter's name that's why I can remember it! Last year was amazing for me and I am off the streets and working on my recovery I was addicted to fentanyl and methamphetamines and living on the streets and now I'm going on eleven months clean and my Child welfare case is closed and I have A whole lot to be absolutely Greatful for this last year2024 and I have even more to be greatful for in this year2025. I'm not going to count the days of my sobriety because God told me it is now time for me to count the years I counted the years on the streets not the days I was on the streets for 6 years. So yup I'm looking forward to making it through and seeing What blessings God has in store for me in this new year! Thank you for letting me share Keep keeping on your farm is going to be great.

It’s looking great. The only thing not designed to last many years is the tarp, so as long as it fits your need it can be considered “semi-permanent.” 😉 I suspect you may end up wishing you had built it up taller with a 4x4 or similar though. For us shorties it’s plenty tall as is, but you may find yourself annoyed with your minimal head clearance over time.

I don't think it is too much and I don't think it's as temporary as you think. Just budget $30 a year for a good tarp and that will last as long as you need it.

It can be deconstructed and reused. The definition of temporary is variable. Looks good. Be sure to have a bleach water spray available after each session. It will decontamination the surfaces, plus help keep critters away.

As for the tarp and the South Carolina sun…. We found a heavy duty tarp on Amazon that is holding up better than any we have found at the big box stores. The name brand is raindeway. They are more expensive but for our run that has zero shade it has been a game changer. Did I understand you to say that you process chickens that other people have raised?

No protective gloves for handling the rusty metal. No protective glasses to protect the eyes. Reaching and leaning while up the ladder. Safety first. As for the build, I honestly would fix everything now, instead of waiting. Why take everything apart twice. Waste of time and energy. 2x4s are cheap.
