Do you get good things in thrift shops? Ours are often cheap tinselly bits. I’m tempted to do a video of Christmas bits in charity shops but it might be underwhelming!

@TeaandForgetmenots Sometimes you do. In my experience, some charity shops are better than others. I think it all depends on what you are looking for. Also i've found its sheer luck on wether you're literally in the right place at the right time, as some of the better quality things go fast ! For Christmas decorations its brilliant, as so many people are quick to throw stuff out which can be upcycled, re-painted and re-used. I brought a pack of 6 baubles for 50p last year and upcycled them with some leftover dark green paint and some metallic paint and they came out gorgeous 🙂

@@TeaandForgetmenots Some of the American bloggers on here that have upcycled Christmas stuff have given me loads of inspiration. They have so much creativity and imagination when it comes to repurposing decorations. I love the sort of antique vintage look with a natural twist. Love the mercury glass baubles. I suppose its all about using your own ideas and artistic licence while getting tons of ideas and themes from the mainstream.

@@kimmygee8741​​⁠that’s true, I need to work out which days they stock up to find the good bits. I got a giant box of baubles for £4 last year that need an interesting project.

@@kimmygee8741I agree, tarnished metal and mercury glass are beautiful. I did a mercury glass vase but sadly broke it. Baubles would be beautiful though.

@@TeaandForgetmenots I bought it this year, along with some others (including dinosaurs!) for my son and his partner as it's their first Christmas together in their own place. (I also gave them quite a few - I have a HUGE collection, enough to start my own shop, fgs. I can't help it, it's an addiction! As a result, not all that I bought for him made it down to him!)

I can imagine that, a lifetime of happy mementos.

Not this kind as these are transferred by friction. There are some that transfer with water like a temporary tattoo though.

Thank you, glad it was helpful. I didn’t use glue for the candle as the melting wax is how the paper attached. If you try a typical glued paper method on a candle then double check the glue is safe if you use the candle.

Yes I have my own shapes engraved into the base! It’s quite common. It probably means that your measuring of the wood wasn’t set correctly so the laser thought it had to cut further. Or the wood wasn’t raised on a honeycomb or the prisms but you selected that option to say it was. How did you have the wood? Raised or on the base?
