I've never seen Steve Ovett's response to this controversy until today. The man has soared in my estimations. You can see how sorrowful and used he felt. You cannot fake real tears. Also I never knew that he turned the money down after all. This video was a revelation.
Excellent footage guys - but seriously - have a think about your music choice for things like this. You will get people just leaving the page. needs to be a bit softer on the ears 👍👍
Thanks! You may be interested in the following link. A classical composer gives his opinion on the music ruclips.net/video/vRw3QlUuuSc/видео.html
Mick McGeogh :)😊
Coleman Storey and Pickering , the holy trinity. Icke wasn't bad either.
We need Steve Ovett to come back to the UK and be knighted
Steve started the 1980s as the greatest 1500m on the planet and finished the 80s in such sad circumstances. Despite these setbacks he always remained a true gentleman.
I dont know Cram was looking around 130 metres out..he wouldve known he was 20 metres ahead...and than he waves at the line rather than running through.
Winner of London marathon 1988 Henrick Jorgensen 1961 - 2019❤️🙏
2:45 HTF has #24 Steve Halliday been disqualified there?
Cassandra's dad on commentary
COE FOREVER 👍👍👍👍👍
Andy Norman what a piece of bleep bleep
Great video!!!!🤗😍🔝
What's shoes brand and type his wear
I still don't fully understand Ovett's point of view. He was offered money, he turned it down. So why, if he knew he wasn't in the greatest shape, did he compete in this event at all?
Crabb fall and an incredible last lap from Coe. What a race.
what happened to crabb ? (in general i mean)
@@peterayres6977 I used to be in the same club and after he retired I saw him in a supermarket locally and he looked very comfortable in retirement shall we say.
@@StevenRead-qg6ps Thanks for that steven. He seemed to vanish (in my mind) from the top over night, maybe injury ? dont remember him having a long career at the top level (i could be wrong though)
Even as an older athlete, Seb demonstrates the heart of an an all-time great. As good a kick as any runner who has graced a track. Seb and Steve were class acts to boot. Steve deserved better than this betrayal. We will be hard pressed to see two better runners than these two Englishmen.
Love the choice of tune
I Ran this in this year 1988
CaerHILLY 10k 😂😂😂a great day thankyou much🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🌞🌞🌞🌞🏅🏅🏅🏅
Remarkable comeback, Seb has the greatest form ever, born to run, this race came at a cost was one of his last.
put male in title as females run mate
Gwent League from the iconic Pontypool Park with ELP soundtrack! 😎 I ran in the World Masters XC in Gateshead after running the qualifying time in a Gwent League in a Blaise Castle round.
Great track! Defiantly influenced by King Crimson.
I wished they had raced each other as planned in Zurich 1979 . At the height of the Coe ovett drama when both in
There was an idea for them to have a three race series in 1981 over 800m/3000m/Mile but sadly nothing came of it.
@@paulwilliams8389 that it I remember the radio times had a picture of both hoping to racing each other at crystal palace over 3,000 m .I don't no if it was this but I remember it was going to happen. and also Zurich 1979 Coe 1500 metres world record run ovett last minute pulling out .
It apparently didn't happen because the organiser of that meeting didn't want Coe's record attempt ruined.
brilliant Les
Sebastian Coe was a special athlete
I'm doing this next September, nice that it's based around Bute Park for what seems the majority
Back in the day it was always are you a Coe or Ovett fan? I never understood why you had to choose. And I still love watching them both on RUclips. And it's worth mentioning some of the other UK athletes who made up the 'Golden Age' - Dave Moorcroft, Steve Cram, Peter Elliot, Tom McKean, Graham Williamson & John Robson et al. Happy days!
My second last marathon. Jimmy Saville and his squad passed me and I joked if he could fix it for us to get a bus to the finish, little did we know.
Thank you for posting this race.
Crammy was some athlete mind.
Brilliant vid we done 😊👍
Thank you 👍
Vintage David Icke before he lost his marbles!
Before he was enlightened.
Opening music is definitely a ripoff of Vangelis’ “chariots of fire” theme
What an elegant runner Ondeiki was. Really stood out back in the day.
Linford Christie, our greatest ever sprinter, ran 10.26s. The same time as Daley Thompson’s best in the decathlon a few years earlier. Just shows what an incredible athlete Daley was!
Great video! Which part of the course is this?
Thanks! Lake Road East coming up to the roundabout.
It had to be Steve Crab!! 😂😂😂
Kenya spear-heading (and spear-poling) the Cardiff half.
*Another lucky win for Cram.*
He really was the Best! And that incident shows it!!
The only person who comes out of this video with no credit whatsoever is Andy Norman. He deceitfully pretended the payment issue didn't exist. Hats off to Seb for both the recovery and the respect shown to Steve. Ultimate respect to Steve for his principled stand to defend the sport he loves and his fellow athletes - what a man.
That was a Tough Gritty Win from Seb Coe . Tough race 4 Ovett .
16:04 If anyone ever wanted to know what a lieing scumbag looks like, there's your mugshot. Further evidence copied below re: another scandal of his: "Whitbread wrote in her 2012 autobiography that she began a personal relationship with Norman shortly after his divorce in 1986.[7]: 242-244 In 1993, journalist Cliff Temple investigated claims that members of the Chafford Hundred Athletic Club, which was run by Whitbread and included leading athletes personally managed by her fiancé Norman, received preferential treatment from Norman in his role as promotions officer of the British Athletics Federation (BAF). Temple authored an article in The Sunday Times suggesting that there could be a conflict of interests.[42][43] Temple killed himself in January 1994. It emerged during the inquest into Temple's death that Norman had threatened and falsely smeared him.[44][45] Norman spread rumours that Temple had sexually harassed Shireen Bailey, whom Temple coached.[46][44][45] Bailey denied the claims.[46] Norman was dismissed from his job as promotions officer for the BAF following the federation's inquiry into the matter.[47][48] The inquest concluded that although the end of Temple's marriage was a contributing factor to his suicide, that the allegations by Norman were the other factor, and had "tipped the balance".[44]
Fermín Cacho campeón olímpico.
That was a world class field and Cram just annihilated them.
Very caring compassionate decent fella Steve Ovett & good on him 4 turning the cash down . Those folk who offered the cash should've be banned 4 life from Athletics .
Seb Coe is my favourite. Awesome result 2 come back from there
I always thought Steve Ovett was slightly arrogant - until i met him and ran with him in a charity race. He couldn't have been nicer or a better sport. Lovely guy. Given that I don't think he ever ran another relay, I may be the only person who can say "I passed the baton to Steve Ovett".
