Troubleshooting Dimplex Soft Start Failure: Step-by-Step Guide
Просмотров 155Месяц назад
SOFT START FAILURE! What is a soft start? A “soft starter” increases the efficiency and longevity of HVAC units and heat pumps. It reduces the in-rush current needed for compressors to start by 60%, thus minimizing potential damage to compressors from mechanical shock hard-starting current surges. The heat pump display can show that the heat pump is running, but it cannot be heard running! This...

Do you know the power rating of the power supply? Managed to buy the Connect without one!
This is what’s on the power supply, hope it helps MODEL: ADS-6AM-06 05050EPB INPUT: 100-240V- 50/60Hz Max. 0. 3А OUTPUT: 5.0V --= 1.0A 5.0W
How do you change the actual date for the cycle?
Unfortunately, that’s not actually possible, it’s only able to set “every x amount of days”
Yeah. Have discovered changing the frequency changes the date but not in a logical way. Going to wait till day of cycle then add desired frequency. Trying to move to Sat or Sun for half price rate.
That makes the most sense, saves a few quid
Is this sounding máximum speed?
No, not quite! As soon as it gets colder I’ll get some of them working flat out, it’s not much louder to be honest
@i85_Heat_Pumps I have a Monobloc olimpia s1 E 6 metters from my room and in the morning soon sounds like a Tractor, and wake me up. In another house that I slept, with a 16Kw machine (but not monobloc) Altherma sounds like 3 times less.
50% compressor as you are in eco mode on the hot water cycle. I have tried this but now prefer to heat my 250l mixergy tank using normal mode in 1.5 hours to 55deg.
How do you find it performs in normal mode? Next experiment for me will be cost difference between normal and eco mode and set temperatures
@i85_Heat_Pumps I find it's better in normal mode. I also find the reduce time is beneficial as my heating is on longer as the HW generation is shorter. Noise levels will rise tho.
Will be in interesting comparison! Thanks for the info
Can you explain how to make sure the system is operating at peak performance
For the underfloor heating? • Function test all components • check for leaks and/ or damage to manifold and/ or components • Check flow rates match the design for each loop • Check heating fluid water quality, flush system if needed • Check how the underfloor heating is being operated, this will based on the heat source that you are using (boiler, heat pump etc) and your electric tariff
My social landlord installed the Mitsubishi Ecodan system in March 2011. Since then, every part has failed, leaked, and been replaced 3-5 times, including outside pump unit x 4, tanks, pipes, compressors, radiators, motherboards, and the wireless control panel. The last replacement took 13 days, during which we had no heat while my husband was in palliative care. He was admitted to the hospital and caught COVID; on top of 4 different cancers (Brain, Lung, Blood and Skin) he passed away by mid-April 2023 after 13 years fight. My electric bill for a two-bedroom bungalow, where I live as a disabled widow, has exceeded £4,000 in last 12months. Since the landlord’s contractors locked me out of any adjustments except for heating on the wireless control panel, both options for scheduling and adjusting the heat or water are unavailable (grayed out). Even the holiday mode won’t allow any input. The hot water is set to run all day, recycling at 48°C. I used to heat the water once daily during off-peak hours and use emergency heat if needed. I have a power shower and mainly use hot water for washing up. I have to boil water to wash up properly. My home is equipped with smart devices that turn lights, security cameras, appliances, and other equipment on and off as I move from room to room to stay safe and well. The average temperature inside my home is 15°C from October to May. The house, built in 1954, contains asbestos. Despite this, my landlord flatly refuses to allow the addition of any modular components to my smart home. They have even threatened me and my late husband with future service or repair costs if I were to install a MelCloud device-an authorized Mitsubishi component that is software-based and manufactured specifically for the Mitsubishi Ecodan air pump heating system. This device is used in thousands of homes worldwide. Being able to control and schedule my heating would significantly reduce waste and make my heating more affordable. However, the landlord claims that installing the MelCloud would damage the system/hardware. Can anyone explain the technical basis for this assumption in detail?
MELCloud will not damage the system, it is designed by Mitsubishi for your heat pump, it will allow remote access for end user and Mitsubishi where you may be able to benefit from remote software updates
Awesome
Thanks for the video, what happened if there is no flashing light?
Put in the sun to recharge the battery
@i85_Heat_Pumps I presume it will only connects to the control unit and the boiler. But not the wifi? Currently the boiler randomly kicks in so I'm a bit stumped. 😞
Yes, It doesn’t connect to the wifi, it connects to the wireless receiver
Should I using it for pumping water???
Hi, thanks for your video. I rent out my apartment on Airbnb. Sometimes, guests exaggerate by requesting 30 degrees for extended periods, even though it’s already 22 degrees inside. Is it possible to set a maximum temperature of 23 degrees and a limit on heating duration within this menu? Thank you so much!
This sort of scenario happens a lot, unfortunately it’s not possible to restrict the temperature ranges on the SensoComfort. But there are other options, you can lock the control with the button on the top, which they will figure out very quick Move the SensoComfort out of range from people Hide the SensoComfort in a locked cupboard and change the room temp mod to inactive and reduce the heat curve a little Or fit a 3rd part thermostat so that you can lock or temperature restrict the heating. Not great opinions but some ideas for you
@ thanks a lot for your help
What’s the part# on those ?
Not sure off the top of my head, but you can contact Wunda directly and they will send them out to you
@ thanks I’ll try that .
Is that a blending valve, I see? 👀
It sure is
@i85_Heat_Pumps Is this UFH on a heat pump?
Im guessing it's a hight temp one?
Yes it’s on a heat pump
Hello,I have the same problem as @nejcar92, it does not recognize the card even in installation mode. wi-fi module: 3P596790-2A MMI software interface version: V06.06.00 any suggestions please?
Once the card has been inserted correctly (it can be difficult to get this right) , the system will restart automatically, has this happened?
@@i85_Heat_Pumps No, the system did not reboot. I checked in the System Info but it seems that the card is not installed (Wifi Gateway Not Connected). I also thought that it was not inserted correctly, but even trying several times (even with the system off) it still does not see the module
Just curious ,under what circumstances would you need to do a hard reset ?
Mainly system glitches, was mainly for older heat pumps, not as common on modern heat pumps. Most manufacturers would recommend this to be done if there’s was any issues
Hi mate, can you rotate the flow bottles too much anti clockwise to open too much so that they will actually come out and water will be there?
Or will they stop once they are fully open before they will actually come off of the manifold?
On the underfloor heating? Yes they will completely unscrew and the heating fluid will come out. They do get a bit harder to turn before they completely unscrew
How can you do this if there is no option on the heating or hot water
Not sure, you should have options there for heating and hot water control
I have just had a heat pump installed with 2 zones and 2 sensoCOMFORT units. I cannot get zone 2 to come on if zone 1 is off - it appears to be set as a slave, and I cannot see any options anywhere to control this... any clue?
Not a clue sorry without seeing or knowing what parts are fitted to the system and how it’s meant to run
Pity about the other videos appearing over the end of your explanation. I would liked to have seen the video to the end. It is such a good concise explanation. Please extend the trailer out with your explanation for you captions. I do learn a lot from your videos.
I’ll sort that issue out later, thanks for letting me know!
@@i85_Heat_Pumps Brilliant, love your response and honesty. I too like constructive feed back. It does amaze me how often people say nothing, when a few words will help. Thank you.
Updated to remove the other video links 👍
@@i85_Heat_Pumps thank you!
Mine dont move when I do this, any reason why?
Is the zone calling for heat and actuator open? Is the pump on?
@ yes all that is going on. But I have 3 for one zone for example and one of them is all the way down the other 2 are all the way up. My boiler keeps having an error for pressure
Hello, when i insert the modul wifi symbol is not showing however "wifi gateway menu is displaying in settings" Do i need to turn something else on?
Might need to change the user mode to installer, code 5678
Hey i have this model of daikin do you know what settings to set to enable wifi. options are grayed out
Thank you for doing these tests for us! 😊
No problem!!
You have gotta be kidding me with these buried settings: Settings Installer Level 00/17 (Access Code) Installation Configuration Circuit 1 Heat Curve Could this setting be buried any deeper into the abyss?
I know, but if you have the app the heat curve is easily accessible!
I need help with my Mitsubishi ecodan boiler .I got low pressure and I don’t know what can I do ?
Low system pressure can be topped up by using the fill loop
I need help getting my heating to wok, it’s paused and it’s freezing
I’m so glad you posted this, I saw a plume of steam and thought that I was going to be out of heat until the guy came out 😂
I've one of these on a underfloor heating manifold. It struggles to get the heating circuits above 2litres per minute. I imagine it should be able to do that without any bother. Is the pump faulty? It's brand new.
There should be a specific flow rate for each loop, dependant on loop length etc, it’s not all about speed. There are buttons on the pump so that you can change mode & speed if needed
@@i85_Heat_Pumps it's at full speed. I'm a plumber myself so I understand the flow rates. I need them all around 2 this pump is unable to achieve that at full speed. It's only 8 circuits and none of them went over 70 metres. It has to be a faulty pump. I've the same setup in another part of the house but with a grundfos pump and it works fine. That pump could get each circuit up to five litres per minute if I wanted it to.
Excellent! Thank you!🙌
Glad it was helpful!
That's all very easy, but what should the Min and Max flow temperatures be set to? How does that get determined?
It depends on what your system has been designed to do and what heat emitters you have, but generally with Heat Pumps the lower the flow temperature the better the efficiency
Don’t buy this, it’s rubbish!
The worst thing ever !!! So complicated and frustrating
That seams to be the general opinion of these doesn’t it 😂
I kind of figured it out, didn’t take me long, just 3 YEARS 😂 Do you think that it is possible to set it to a time, rather than temperature? Let’s say I want the heat come on for hour in the morning and hour in the evening no matter the temperature. Because if I set it to wake and to sleep it keeps on heating until it reaches the temperature, which is annoying because the WiFi range is not strong enough to reach my bedroom 😢
Yes there’s a timer function, you’ll need to factory reset it and change the mode to MODE 2, this changes everything from a thermostat to a time clock. Page 32 of the manual: www.elementshop.co.uk/Cache/Downloads/neoStat-V2-Manual.pdf Hope this helps
@@i85_Heat_Pumps Waaaaaaau you are a life saver 😍 I am definitely going to try it over the weekend. Thank you
What is the max temperature on these?my plumber lowered it but the water temp isnt great. Ive moved it closer to the top dot. Thanks
The max is about 60°c on these
@i85_Heat_Pumps thanks for replying! So it's safe to have it up higher?
If it’s not warm enough then turn it up. Make sure that the power is isolated from the immersion first, before removing and covers or making adjustments. if in doubt get a plumber or electrician to help/ assist
Hi, I bought a new Vaillant eloblock but it shows me problem in symbol like dollar $ and cannot start. Do you know what kind of issue or problem its that?
Is it like a horizontal line with vertical wavy lines? If so that’s the symbol for electric backup heater. There another one that’s a vertical line with what looks like horns almost touching and the top, that’s the symbol for noise reduction mode. I have no knowledge of a $ symbol sorry
No its not that, simple its like symbol S with circle around. It looks like dollar symbol. Thanksfor your effort anyway, I will search further.
Nice explanation. I see that the control box is from Heatmiser. What about the actuators?
The actuators are stellantrieb 2
@i85_Heat_Pumps thanks for letting me know. What's the best way to get in touch?
bad product which faults every few weeks. Loosing gas. I had to replaced it with aerothermia. 80 000 euro investment lost in the ground and cant be recovered.
I have a similar Termowatt 3w immersion heater in my boiler which is just for hot water. What setting is optimal? Boiler is ~250l with 2x 3w immersions. Comes on 02:00-07:00 & 15:00-18:00. Cheers!!
Personally I would only heat it to what I need, there’s no point in having too hot and adding loads of cold water to get the temperature right.
I have this problem, it's still in idle even when there's demand for heating, compressor anti-cycling time is at 0 mins, any ideas? Still 0.0kwh no heating or hot water
What does it say in the live monitor, the 3 lines should flick to a message; either standby - no demand. Compressor blocked, then gives a message why
@@i85_Heat_Pumps It's saying: Domestic Hot Water Blocked then after Building Circuit Flow Too Low. 1.5 bar water pressure, 320 l/h building circuit flow rate, compressor anti cycling 2 mins. Quite stumped with this one. I've got 3 zones and 3 circuits on the thermostat, all 3 circuits set to heating and off at the moment
@@i85_Heat_Pumps Do you think it maybe a blocked strainer preventing the heat pump from running?
Yes, more than likely
Hi there I've got a problem with my Arotherm Plus heat pump, no heating or hot water at all and have to use immersion heating for hot water. Everything is on a time controlled heating but nothing is working, no radiator heat everything is cold. I've bled all the radiators and they all have water on them as well. Is there any other settings I need to turn on? I've done this hard reset as well
Check the live monitor for a message, if nothing try switching heat pump and control off for 5 mins then back on again and see if it helps
@@i85_Heat_Pumps How do I switch the heat pump and control off manually is it just on the sensohome panel? I've got Domestic Hot Water blocked building circuit flow rate too low and the 1.5 bar water pressure and 320 l/h building circuit flow rate
Yeah that flow rate is a bit low, check this video on cleaning filters: Clean Filters WILL improve performance of your HEAT PUMP ruclips.net/video/7PfIDnRpzpo/видео.html What size heat pump is it?
Rotary isolator by the heat pump and a switch by the white control/ wiring centre. Should be a video in the Vaillant playlist about a hard reset
@@i85_Heat_Pumps It's an Arotherm plus 7kw unit
Better still don’t have one fitted they be shite
Not a good advert
The worst gadget ever made by human, it is so complicated I can’t even turn on the heating after hours of trying, the manual is even ultra complicated to read and understand.
Or as a 3rd option, take it back, get a refund, buy a different brand that is fit for purpose without the need of sticky tape
A bit of oversight when designing?
Would have thought that waterproofing was a bit of a priority when it comes to external electrical connections…
COP around 3.2, inefficient, normal or efficient for September?
There’s way too many variables to answer that sorry! Depends on system design, heat emitters, how long has the system been fitted, how is heating being controlled etc. as a very basic rule, long run times and low flow temperatures will help improve COP’s
3.2 is from your setting 56.1/17.4=3.22 My Samsung gen6 is only doing 2.18 at September , I am looking for ways to improve my setup.
do these need to be recalibrated regularly? I've never had to recalibrate my normal room stats before ?
They shouldn’t do once they are set, but there no harm in checking accuracy
@@i85_Heat_Pumps thanks for your message. do you just use another thermostat to check the temperature and then use that reasding t recalibrate the Heartmiser?
I usually use 2 additional thermostats or thermometers and take an average of all 3
All the other source I've checked say you calculate COP by simply dividing heat output/energy input. In which case your formulae will over-estimate COP. Could you please clarify. Thanks
Yes I agree, but this is how Vaillant state it is done for their heat pump
I pair it up how the app tells me and it connects.. but the next day for example one of the zones are offline Then a different day a different zone is offline Both zones have been paired up again at different stages
This is the shittest thermostat it keeps going offline even after repairing many times
You may need a signal repeater
Where are you based? I’m looking for heat pump and UFH for our project. Thanks.
Your best bet would be to have a look at the Heat Geek approved installers in your area
Forgot the pin how do i reset it now?
You’ll have to email heatmiser for assistance support@heatmiser.com They will guide you through the steps needed to take
