The bushing has two back-out holes -- these are the threaded holes -- you can utilize to back-out. Place a long bolt (grade 8 as you will need a stiff bolt - 3" length suggested) into each and tighten until the end of bolt placed into the tapered bushing contacts the impeller. Then hand tighten each of the two bolts one turn at a time. By alternating back and forth the bushing will come out evenly. With you snapping a bolt in one of these back-out holes, you will need to remove the damaged bolt so you may utilize this hole with one of the two back-out bolts. Recommendation: utilize a 15/64" drill bit and drill out the damaged bolt (use a hole punch to strike center and drill precisely down the center). Once drilled out, you can pull the bolt metal out from the rear. The remaining metal in the threaded area will be forced out when you place a bolt into these threads. The standard VORTEC BEAST comes with a 6" inlet. When purchasing the optional 8" diameter inlet one can place larger hose on the vacuum which will assist in consuming batts. We have customers using the vacuum this way every day. Please note that the VORTEC MEGA BEAST has 2X the production and suction capability of the VORTEC BEAST. The VORTEC MEGA BEAST will move larger batts quicker as the additional power pulls the large batt into the hose and keeps it moving until the impeller grinds it up. Good morning! The Vortec Beast tends to have a 35% higher production rate than the Meyer versa vac. Why is that? Well, the Beast has a 22 NET hp engine while the versa vac has a 19 (gross) hp vac. In head-to-head testing when removing a pile of insulation -- tests completed wtih cellulose and then with fiberglass -- the VORTEC® Beast has 35% higher production than the vacuums you cite. The increased production is due to a combination of factors including (a) the impeller size - 20" diameter (b) the abrasive resistant steel material used to produce the impeller is very heavy and creates a lot of momentum when spinning to keep production moving while not bogging down (c) vacuum design and associated tolerances, and (d) engine.
