So far the Best step by step approach i've seen for CCNA labs, normally paced and just simply perfect.
@glenndbritto674 this is really kind of you, I really appreciate your comment. Glad you find them useful.
But, MAC-adresses are static by default, and pretty much unique.
@urvhalt You’re absolutely right! MAC addresses are static by default and typically unique, as they’re hardcoded onto the network interface during manufacturing. However, there are instances where network engineers might want to override this built-in MAC with a “static MAC address” entry in the switch’s configuration. This is often done to improve security or manage network traffic by associating specific MAC addresses with particular switch ports. For example, when you assign a static MAC address to a port linked to a specific device, such as a server, it prevents unauthorized devices from connecting. If someone plugs another device, like a PC, into that port, the switch detects a MAC address mismatch, causing the port to enter err-disable mode. This means it stops forwarding traffic until a network administrator re-enables the port. This setup helps to secure the network by tightly controlling which devices can connect to each port. Thanks for your comment!
@@ieverythingeverywhere first listening some time, gives valid MAC-adresses to use.... so, maybe that is just a basic check, not security.

How did u find the ip address for your server? You never explained that
@AlexJaeger716 Thanks so much for your comment! As part of the prerequisites, it's assumed that your Ubuntu server is already set up and ready for NetBox installation. I apologize if this step wasn’t clear in the video-I was aiming to keep things efficient and to the point. If you need to find the IP address of your server, you can use a simple command to display the IPv4 address. Since I used Ubuntu for my setup, you can run the following command to get the IP address: "ip a". I hope this helps, and feel free to ask if you have any more questions!
@@ieverythingeverywhere thanks a ton bro 🙏 do i just enter the address of my system?
@AlexJaeger716 No worries, mate! Once you log in to your server, you should see the IPv4 address displayed. You can use that IP address and paste it into your web browser like this: 'YOUR_IP_ADDRESS'.
@@ieverythingeverywhere what if im just running it off of my ubuntu desktop? Which ip address would i use in that case?
@AlexJaeger716, use the IP address from your LAN network. If you need further assistance, please provide the current (private) IP address from your laptop and the output from the server.
Thank you for the video! Do i also need to include #ip ospf network point-to-point? i am confused when do I have to use this and #encapsulation ppp
@Roo5331 So sorry for coming back to you so late, your comment for some reason was in the held queue for unknown reason. Nonetheless, thank you for the question! When configuring OSPF on point-to-point links, like serial connections, the command "ip ospf network point-to-point" is needed to ensure OSPF optimizes neighbor relationships without DR/BDR elections. For encapsulations: - HDLC (default on Cisco serial interfaces) is efficient but lacks features like authentication. - PPP (encapsulation ppp) is ideal for secure point-to-point links, as it supports authentication (PAP/CHAP). - Frame Relay works for WANs with multiple endpoints and should use the OSPF point-to-multipoint network type. Each encapsulation serves different needs based on network type and requirements. Let me know if you’d like more details!
@ thank you! Am very interested to know more details especially ospf point to multipoint :)
@Roo5331 In OSPF’s point-to-multipoint configuration, routers connected over non-broadcast multi-access (NBMA) networks-like Frame Relay-can establish neighbor relationships without requiring a DR/BDR election. This setup treats each link as a collection of point-to-point connections, allowing OSPF to handle each link independently. Key Advantages: Neighboring: Routers form adjacencies without DR/BDR roles. Routing Efficiency: Routes are advertised to each neighbor individually, reducing the potential for routing issues on complex networks. In most setups, point-to-multipoint is configured for NBMA networks where each remote site communicates directly with a central hub Take a loot at this URL Cisco explains it well in this discussion:: community.cisco.com/t5/routing/ospf-point-to-multipoint-network-type/td-p/3687411

So very useful sir
@sna4416 thank you for your comment
Seems difficult for me.. i guess i have to check ospf from the scratch
@Shubham-Mishra Thank you for your comment! I’m not sure what your background is, but I’d recommend going over the OSPF basics first. Once you’ve got a good grasp of the theory, this lab will be much easier to tackle. Feel free to reach out if you need any help, and check out the link below for more info about OSPF: www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus9000/sw/9-x/unicast/configuration/guide/l3_cli_nxos/l3_ospf.html P.S. No need to read the entire article, but it will give you a solid overview of OSPF.
Great videos
@JAYSHREERAM-z4j Thank you for your comment :)
Thank you for this lab
@roderikismaili5285 Thank you for your comment! I'm glad you found the lab helpful, and I hope it was informative.
I wanna start learning for CCNA, do i have to learn from courses elsewhere and then come here for labs or i can just start from here? Thanks
@ggsanji2038 Thanks for your comment and for tuning in! To get the most out of these labs, it's important to have a good understanding of the theory first. The purpose of these labs is to help you apply what you've learned in a hands-on way, reinforcing your knowledge through practice. By mastering both the theory and the labs, you'll build a strong foundation that will prepare you for more advanced topics.
if u wanna start larning theory, i recommend you Jeremy IT LAB, it has free course for CCNA.
