He is such an inspiration! 💜
This video is an invaluable resource for a new McCurdy horse owner like myself. This video is also highly valuable as a work of cultural history. Thank you for making and sharing this with us!
what about it mother attachments?
Drive a wooden stake at both ends of where you want your row to be. Tie a string to one stake, wrap the string around the other stake, and pull the string tightly to create a straight line. Plow with the string touching one side of the wheel to create straight rows. (No "sighting" necessary! Just follow the string.) In Tennessee we call this a "Laying Off Plow." It takes much less energy than you might imagine. The operator makes short, quick "strokes" forward with the plow in the soil + half-stroke back with the plow raised. The work moves along very quickly. I have used these "Laying off Plows" many, many times in my life. It works like a Hoe with a wheel.
Im building my own cultivator.useing an old bicycle..figureing out the plow head...im thinking a hand spade
Thanks for tje demonstration of the technique
Thanks for the video.
Hi. I'm looking for a McCurdy. Do you know where I can get one?
Thank you for explaining the technique. I was wondering how you got the wider seed beds with a single plow. Take care from a neighbor in S.C. I subscribed as well. Keep the knowledge coming
I want this for actual farming.
have you tried the DUC plow? I haven't personally. From videos yours and the DUC plow's, the DUC uses less upper body strength and more leg strength. Leg muscles are bigger and stronger. It uses a pulling action rather than a pushing action. You should check it out if you haven't already.
How do your ridges hold up in hard rains? How do your plants and especially seed do on your ridges after hard rains
Very helpful, thanks!
Looks plenty good to me,thanks Bill.
Always heard you can plant more on a crooked row 😁
Nice thanks
Thanks for this demonstration
Thanks Amy. Glad you’re happy with your McCurdy horse. Welcome to the family
I just recently traded/bought a 15 year old McCurdy. I don't have his paperwork as of yet and truly don't care if I ever do, I REALLY like this horse! He's big boned, gentle, good mind and for a quarter horse lady who can't ride a quarter horse anymore he's a dream! He doesn't move like a Walking Horse. He moves like a gaited quarter horse, very agile. I love the history on this breed plus the fact I was born and raised in Alabama it makes it that much more enjoyable. Thank you for sharing!
I'm looking for one. Can you direct me ?
Rick, you are full of surprises
