A mod/datapack I'd recommend is *Hallucinate* by Kyubion Studios. It's an insanity-based horror effect mod based around the deep dark/sculk. Going down deep in the mines will have you more on edge the longer you're down there.

One thing to a series like this is that you really need something to do, other than just waiting around for the spooks to happen. I think that's what makes the newer episodes feel slower. Early on, you were setting up a base and getting your essentials set up, and Herobrine was just something that happened along the way. Now that you've got all that squared away, you don't have something to keep you distracted (and thus more off-guard to get spooked). *EDIT:* Having said that, what I would recommend most for your next series is actually not more horror mods, but one or two big content mods. Things like more structures, some extra bosses and progression, maybe a town building mod like MCA Reborn...basically, just mods that give you stuff to do, and goals to work for.

From The Fog is the only mod with this vibe, there are others like In Your World or 000.jar with a similar vibe but they have cheap jumpscares and dweller-like creatures chasing you randomly
