Pom Jelly Mochi Keycaps Soundtest on the Falcon Elite TKL Mechanical Keyboard
Просмотров 9 тыс.4 года назад
Since a lot of people were asking what Pom keycaps sound like, I figured I'd do a soundtest of them. Here they are on a Falcon Elite TKL mechanical keyboard. One thing to note is that this keyboard has sound insulating foam (comes stock with the board) as well as Kailh Silent Box switches, both of which may affect the sound of the keycaps. However, I figure that if you are such a keycap connois...

Experimenting With Lubing an Aliaz Switch To Try To Get Rid Of Spring Crunch
Просмотров 2 тыс.4 года назад
Sorry about my sometimes nonsensical ramblings throughout the video, haha. Some people have pointed out that Aliaz switches of all weights tend to have an annoying spring crunch. I figured I would try to get rid of the crunch by lubing the springs. Worked out well at first, but as the end of the video shows... science can go too far. Looking for Aliaz Switches and other Mechanical Keyboard gear...

Kail Bronze Switch - How it Clicks While Being Linear
I bought these from you 3 years ago.
Black is so cool !!!
Bro mate... No one mashes the keys that hard... You can barely tell the difference with you bottoming the keys out to shit. I have 2 keyboards, 1 with the Aliaz 80g and another with the BOX brown. Both have SA keycaps from domikeys and the difference is night and day.
Is the store will working?, I see the last Instagram post is from a year ago, literally. 😔
Imagine comparing two switches on different keyboard. This is not even a comparison. ridicilous 😅
Is there any difference from ruclips.net/video/uGRbdWSYgVc/видео.html ?
Act as a Tactile bump for Liner Switch.
@@4734291 not from my experience, I think what matters for feel is preloading due to length (slow springs) or weight of caps, or gradient in coil density (progressive springs). My guess is the multi-stage springs are used to reduce harmonic reverberations and make the spring quieter (a two stage should be quieter and more high pitched crunch than a three stage, which should sound deeper), but it's surprising how little solid info there is on these springs in a mechanical keyboard context, since most multi stage springs are made non-linear, but most of the keyboard kind are made to behave linearly. I would need to test to know for sure, and I can't be bothered.
what type of wire are you using?
Mine is broken on the column diode (bottom one) i jumper it to the left or right, and it just copy the input , how can i fix it
If you even use youtube anymore could i get a sound test?
I guess your test keyboards are hot swappable, it would have been nice when you would have used one keyboard for the test to really show the difference between the switch. The second keyboard with the silent switch has a bigger case which has more volume so it can absorb more sound than the small keyboard.
what do I do for one of the keys that dont have anything directly to its right? I lifted the enter key. I have a corsair k65 keyboard.
So this is the predecessor to the Box series switches we all know and love today.
What do I do if both of it got lifted, Like both left and right
did it scratch switches?
what if the left leg's lifted pad is on the very edge?
damn.. that is kind of odd somehow lol. What is favorite type of spring? I am doing a little research on switch springs haha.
i press left ctrl button and it registers capslock ,TAB ,Shift, ESC ,and Numlock button at one time how to fix it???
One of the diodes may be broken and needs to be replaced. It is most likely the diode connected to the Ctrl key.
Thank you so much! this saved my build.
Like I said on the other vid, this was tremendously helpful with some brainstorming I was doing with friends. Appreciate the effort you put into releasing this and the two-stage spring vid!
Just wanted to say this was tremendously helpful with a convo I had with friends about staged springs and spring crunch, and so on. Thank you!
It has some "tick" in between keypresses, is this originally a linear switch or tactile switch?
That "tick" is actually due to the destruction of the switch housing in order to see the spring profile during keypresses. It is due to the stem slider being pushed up higher along the metal leaf than it normally should, and then bumping over the leaf on the way down.
lol. what a good way to learn. Way more efficient than watching hours of keyboard-building twitch streams and more easy to remember than someone just speeding through all their answers and techniques in a how-to video. What a good find. I mean, I could do this myself too but I would have to remember I wanted to do. Get over the fact that I might be ruining a switch and then wear my fingers out working with all the small parts.
She has nice hands but that dirt was clearly dropped on just before the video
When your switches sound so good you have to taste them
:D
Great video. I saved 4 keys with 6 lifted pads using cat 5e cable wires. I finally chenged my corsair k63 wireless from linear to tactile switches.
Glad I could help!
hey just curious, not even sure if it's relevant but. what type of wire are you using?
Thanks, one of my PCBs has a lot of missing pads. This makes a lot more sense as I was having trouble
Does it feel different to press?
Bless! ❤❤
both pads on my space key have come out, what do i do in that situation?
i'm on alloy origins 60 btw*
wire the switch legs using both methods that I showed in the video! One leg will be wired to diode, the other leg to the same positioned leg on a neighboring switch
Aliaz Silent sounds much better than other in terms of bottoming and release sounds
Can it be use on the low profile switch?
What if if diode pad that’s smoked ? Would I connect a wire to 2 closby diodes?
Thank you. An old video but super well presented. Easy to follow.
Having just tested the Aliaz (all weights) against some other switches, I find the Aliaz VERY quiet. Quieter than many linear switches. I also like the 80g and 100g force switches more than the more conventional 60 and 70g versions. I’ll be filling a keyboard with a combination of 100s and 80s (using the 80s for modifier keys and the space bar) and Gateron Pro Blues for the numpad.
Does this work on laptop keyboard?
i have a keychron and i cant figure out what the diode is and which is the correct one for my dead O key..... any ideas or suggestions?
You have to just test one by one until you find the one diode that works. Every keyboard's diode layout is different, depending on the way that the PCB designer chose to place them. Usually it is located close to the switch that it is meant for, but it doesn't necessarily have to be right next to it. Also, diodes have polarity and it should be hooked to the side of the diode with a stripe on it.
@@FlashquarkMine is broken on the bottom one column to be exact the diode is broken so i connect it to the left or right, it copies the input of the following column that i connect, how can i fix this?
#HELP_PLEASE Can Some One Plz Help I want to know What model of Smd RGB led is used to make (Cooler Master MK750) because. I want to replace my keyboard faulty LEDs.
I don't know the model, but there's a possibility that the LEDs will start working again if you just reflow the solder.
the first one sounds like a typewriter
This saved my keyboard and made it useable. My keyboard is a masterkeys pro S, i had multiple areas where i ripped the pads and at first i tried connnecting them via scraping the traces but it wasnt viable. Then i saw their numbers and used method shown in the video and got it fixed. They are numbered in order on my keyboard. I ran wires in parallel like shown here but make sure you connect everything you think is stripped before testing other wise keyboard still wont work correctly

faced the same unfortunate scenario of ripping my pcb solder pads due to excess heat inserted when disoldering a switch. this helped alot, thanks i appreciate your time and effort of posting this.
Glad I could help! :)
Why are they making keyboards look like they are from the 90s now? They look terrible...
How can u tell which side is the one thats busted?
It should be visually apparent that a pad is lifted because there is no metal and you can see the bare PCB underneath. If you really aren't sure, you could just try wiring up both sides. it might be a bit overdoing it, but at least it gets the issue fixed.
that dedication to buiilt two of the same keyboard for a soundtest
I think the sound probably came from the leaf.
I thought it’s common sense that if you’re making a comparison then everything is done on the same thing except for what you are comparing? Like wtf? Oh yeah I’m just gonna out different switches on 2 entirely different keyboards and make a “comparison” video on these switches
Thanks for the help man
Thank you so much for showing me this in this video, i recently got one of these with a lubing kit and i was wondering if they worked exactly the same and didnt want to risk it. But now i know, thanks!
that keyboard clicks are annoying
will buy this, love the sound
