Well, Gentle Giant, there is nothing gentle about brutalism. These buildings are drab, cold, forbidding, misshapened, and just plain ugly. I feel bad for people who have to work in them and really bad for people who have to live in them. In the egotistical world of modern architects whose desire is not to create buildings that uplift, inspire, or fulfill their purposes, the purpose of these monstrosities is stroke the egos of their creators who feel that they are smarter than everybody else especially those who can not see their genius. It is a blessing that many of them have been so poorly made that the millions of dollars wasted on repairing them will convince people just to let them fall down, or even better, pulled down. In your stupid praise of this tasteless style, the most stupid thing you said was not to confuse brutalism with being brutal. They are the same.

These buildings should have remained models in an art exhibition. Their greyness, massive inhumane scale and lack of detail makes these buildings depressing for the people using them and passing by them. Brutalism has been a terrible mistake. Let's not repeat it.

For thousands of years, humanity has used different materials to construct its buildings, houses, sculptures, etc. The use of bare concrete is such a waste and tasteless idea. Concrete is not only ugly, it's cold and even scary. My favorite scary/ugly building n pure BRURALiST would be that Airport Terminal in Charles D'Gaulle (don't remember the number). That one is an immense flying saucer, with electric stairways in between. Better not arriving there at night, after a long hour flight. It's as entering hell made of concrete. Scary

I work in a Burtalist building in Boston, MA (the Erich Lindeman Mental Health Center). Everyone Monday morning I pray that the building has burned down over the weekend, but being cast concrete, that ain't gonna happen. That means another week of working in a cold, bleak, uncomfortable and ugly building.
