Oktoberfest Got CRAZY!!
In late September both me and my friend Stephen visited our friends from Erasmus in Munich and were lucky enough to take part in the Bavarian tradition of Oktoberfest.
Hannes took us round the city on the first day to see all the sights. On the other days we visited more of the city and saw Oktoberfest twice.
It was a great experience and really kind of Hannes to accommodate us, letting us wisit his willage (inside joke). It was so nice to see everyone again after so long. Here is to the next time.

Karlstad Campus (Documentary Short)
Просмотров 10 тыс.8 лет назад
Karlstad is a small city situated between the two biggest cities in Sweden, Goteborg and Stockhom. Even though it is only the 22nd biggest place in the country, it is a destination for international students from around the world. There is a british tendency, especially after the recent Brexit vote to consider the United Kingdom outside of Europe because, geographically, it is disconnected from...
Fika, Bring People Closer
Просмотров 3268 лет назад
Fika is a swedish tradition involving strong coffee and Kanelbullar (cinnamon bun). Essentially, fika is a coffee break or just a brake where people converse and enjoy each others company. My experiences of Fika are very fond. As Erasmus students, we were encouraged from the off to have them to get to know each other, and they worked a treat! I'm definietly going to carry on having them in Engl...
A Study Day

In Sweden they have a higher education system that is free of tuition fees. Some say that being a consumer in your education makes the student more motivated to get the best from your learning experience. Furthermore, the population in Sweden is small. With near to 10million inhabitants means its the 17th largest in Europe but the land area equates to the 5th largest in Europe, emphasising just...
A Swedish Winter Day
Просмотров 9 тыс.8 лет назад
In Sweden the winters are cold and the days are short. In Karlstad there are around 6 hours of day light and temperature can go below -20'c. However, there is a lot of snow and the landscapes are amazing to see. Its a rather counterproductive binary, but this part of the culture is so different to English winters, making it refreshing, literally. Swedes normally light up their dwellings with co...

Don't Panic, You're in Iceland
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.8 лет назад
1 day after getting back from New York I visited Iceland with 11 other great people. It's fair to say that it was the most organised trip I've been on this year thanks to Lisa and Nelli. Without them we would have frozen at the night and starved from lack of food. On the bus into Reykjavik the bus driver said 'Don't panic, you're in Iceland', and since this moment we reused this saying througho...
Tresticklan National Park, Horror and KEX

On this trip we visited Tresticklan national park on the border of Sweden and Norway. Myself, Hannes, Stephen, Clara and Marc trekked through the snow 6.9km to finally reach our cottage. The trip was only two days but we experienced Scandinavia without wifi, electricity, water; but with loads of snow and beautiful landscapes. Music: Jeff Kale - Cookie MoNomeNtal - Bis Spater Jeff Kale x Spencer...
Road Trip: Oslo and Goteborg
Просмотров 3678 лет назад
Me and my friends Stephen and Hannes travelled to Oslo to pick up our friend Jess who came to visit. We explored frozen lakes on the way but in Oslo we had fun skating on ice out side the royal palace. Then we travelled to Goteborg where we stayed the night and woke up to a city full of snow. After taking a quick tour around the city, we returned to Campus in Karlstad. A very busy trip, but a g...
4 Hours In Oslo

On the way back from Spain I stopped off at Oslo before my train back to Karlstad. I paid the equivalent of £4 to store my suitcase in a locker for the time and went off to explore the city in -6' at night, covered in snow. Here is the video. Music: Jeff Kaale - Stawberry Thanks for watching, please share this video if you enjoyed it
Our Lapland Adventure

We took part in the Scanbalt Lapland trip from Karlstad University all the way to Kiruna, Abisko and Narvik. Exploring the Swedish and Norwegian Lapland landscape. When I woke up in the bus on the way there, I woke up to snow frozen on all the trees; everything was white. It was one of the most surreal things I've ever seen. This trip was surreal, we did things I've always dreamed of. Going on ...
Karlstad Flottracet (IESK)

The Karlstad University tradition is to build a raft within your student organisations and race against each other. Peter and I were part of the International student team. Our team hadn't taken part for 3 years so we wanted to show the others what we could do. Here is the video Music: Foals - Birch Tree 1975 - Chocolate (Zanski Remix) Safakash - Deep Inside (No copyright infringements intended)

Nice video! I was lucky enough to be among the first batch of students to move into the first part of "Campus Futurum" as they called it then, when it was newly constructed in the fall of 1996. There was only one "block" then (Triogatan), with more blocks being completed each term after that. I have really fond memories of this place. I lived at Triogatan 3, apartment 110. :-)

I might be feel different if I actually had to live there, but that sounds like heaven to me. I'm from New York, and now live in the south, where I feel like I am forever hiding from the Sun.😆 I would really love to visit Sweden one day to find out. I've been in love with Scandinavia from afar since I was a child. Tack så mycket, och hej då.😁✌
