Exploring the abandoned Wild River Country water park
Wild River Country was an outdoor water park located in North Little Rock, Arkansas, United States. It was unable to open for the 2020 season due to legal reasons, was sold in auction and has sat abandoned ever since.
This was documented in November of 2021, Vandals have taken their toll and every item of value (including the slides) has been stripped out.
Surprisingly, their website is still active www.wildrivercountry.com/

Barge blocking Stennis spillway in Columbus, MS June 2021
Просмотров 6 тыс.3 года назад
On 6/09/2021 a barge docked in Clay county broke loose from its mooring and struck the Stennis Lock and Dam in Columbus, at which point it sunk, and is now blocking three of the five spill gates in the Lock and Dam.
Teary eyed 😢😢😢
I used to go all the time. I never rode the "new" orange slide with the loop, always saying "next summer". Never put anything off just because of a little fear. It could be your last opportunity
I wish they would pay the the back taxes it wouldn't be like that is today if I had the money I would buy it myself and keep the park the same no changing keep all the rides and clean everything out and get it back going again for all the community this is the hangout place and I don't want them to lose this place over the damn taxes I will fight to keep this place I do just that I don't want no damn game room I just want this water park open
It's Little Rock, what do you expect? That entire city is either really nice or really trash. There's not much in-between. I'm just shocked that the copper is still in the walls.

So many happy memories here! Went every summer! Parents would drop us off! (Crazy to think about it now lol) no cell phones but I think I got to borrow a pager lol ! It makes me sad to see what people have done to it 😞 thanks for sharing!
I went my whole childhood, I was gonna explore it recently when it got abandoned and give it a final goodbye, but all the trees surrounding the park have been chopped down, you would easily be seen entering the place I didn’t wanna take the risk.
My whole childhood
This video had some memories flowing back in. I’ve been where he was at 10:20 probably hundreds of times. Best view of the park before going down the best slide. I remember that line being so long you’d be at the main side walk lol
this so sad to see it like this. I went here since I was a baby. I would go on the duck slide in the kiddie area. When I got older my sisters and I would go endlessly on the slides. We would race on the slides by the wave pool seeing who would get down faster. My siblings and I would go on the cyclone as many times as we could. It was the most popular slide before the three newest ones that would were added a couple years before they closed. We would go with our aunt and uncle and hold hands on the wild river rapids. Burning our feet as we lugged the tubes up the stairs. Sitting in the wave pool enjoying the cool water and playing in the waves. I miss this place so much. This place was my whole childhood in the summer
That was a popular and fun place back in the 90s. Was really sad to see it die. They'll probably tear it down and build a country club or a condo development in its place.
How many times I burned my feet on the scorching sidewalks and stairs waiting to get on the Vortex and toilet bowl is crazy. It really pains me to see it like the way it is right now. Floating down the lazy river, Almost dying in the wave pool lmao, eating on the patio whilst a wasp kept landing on me. I wouldn’t trade those memories for anything. I sure miss being a kid.
And the feeling of hauling those giant tubes up flights of stairs in the blaring sun and almost drowning at the bottom of the slide. Good times.
@@novaanderson1762 Oh geez. 🤣 I remember forgetting to bring one up a few times, so I’d have to walk all the way back down and wait all over agin 🙄😂
@@novaanderson1762 That definitely happened with the Cyclone. Steps were hot af and that pool at the bottom was super strong lol. As a kid it tossed you around.
Or purposely flipping on the Pipeline so you can ride all the way down without a tube 🤣🤣 the rapids were fun too
I used to go there all the time for band retreat. This is just so sad.
River coubtry disney?
Just really can’t believe how much damage people have done to it over the last 2 years. Such a fun place with tons of memories that now nobody else will get to make. Really sad especially for the younger generation. Not sure it would have been as popular with the kids nowadays not wanting to get off the phones or video games but it will be greatly missed be the people in their late 20s and 30s
Was a fun place back in the 90s, I remember it well. Was really sad to see it die. They'll probably turn it into a country club or a condo development.
@@scotthayes4135 Nah, I heard they’re turning it into another Dave and Busters-with golf.
An all adult attraction, nothing for kids.
Amazing!!!!👍👍👍. Rusty
Why do some of the pilots here have what looks like an airborne pin in between their airplane and the eagle on their name patch. For example, at 1:39 on his name patch you can see it in the middle. What does that mean and why do some pilots have it and some don’t?
Free fall parachute course at the Air Force Academy
No barge their lies nothing but lies.
It did happen I have family relatives who live down near their anf it flooded the lake around it.
Used to go for middle school end of the year parties. Sucks to see it like this !
It will suck even more if it gets turned into a condo development.
I went there in girl scouts had the best time there
The T.38 a nice looking aeroplane. CAVU skies to all service aviators. I was once one of you; I flew more hours than anybody else, and Her Majesty kindly gave me a Permanent Commission with accelerated promotion and double pay. We would tear the Mess up badly, and nothing ever said! All the very best, guys. (and girls!)
Good job guys. X-man 🇦🇿🤙
Privet
It’s a shame they closed my family would drive down from Memphis Tennessee to go here and it was fun
Same, any chance you went to Kirby Woods Baptist? I found this park from an event they did so makes me wonder
You are really brave to climb all those old wooden structures! They look scary!
Lol they aren’t that old they’re just unkept now. It was going up until just a couple years ago. Damn shame too that place was the shit
Dang cant believe this was just closed last year. So much vandalism. Seems to be a nice park at one point
I remember that place from long ago.
I’ve never been more scared in my life than the day I did that slide that was basically a 45 degree angle. This video is really sad
The one that went straight down? God I loved that one
@@HoldThatLettucewas that the orange one? That was the best slide in the park hands down
@@DijnoOfDoom-pb2rp yep! That's the one! Man I miss this place
Went there a lot summers growing up. Sad
I went there all of my life and had a blast. I've been so busy that I decided not to go this year but was still planning on going summer of 2022. This is so shocking. Many sweet memories with many sweet people. It couldn't last forever but dang. Anyone else remember the waterfall behind the wave pool on the lazy river? How about that giant vertical yellow slide?
The waterfall behind the wave pool was the best! Which was the giant vertical yellow slide? I always thought the vortex you'd get stuck in with the wild river rapids were a fun quirky thing about the park. And the lightning bolt, which was the straight down slide that they took down. They even had a giant sand box for a hot minute. Even as a kid I thought that was a bad idea
You know what's wild is that even though we're internet randos, me and you have probably seen each other numerous times when we were kids. It's crazy how many memories strangers can share.
I remember the 4 person floats and the vortex ride, somehow I always ended up being the one going backwards, which was the most fun but also scary. I was always too scared to do the toilet bowl and the tube slide that had a loop. The last time I ever went there was an obstacle course you had to swim to and it was super cool.
@@emilyg2451I loved the waterfall, and the lazy ricer was great
There’s an abandoned high school in Gould, AR… you should totally check it out 👀
My first job ever. Loved this place.
Actually vandals didn’t take the slides. The purchaser started demolition with some of the slides.
I think they moved them to Magic Springs.
Jeez! Who would trashed the whole park after they owe money over 14k too electric company! Wish they would've find away too pay it off keep it running! I wonder where them water slide gone too! 😱 I miss this water park. Great memories and it alot of fun!
damn
Cant believe they didnt pay the taxes owner must have had a gambling problem or something
No it's all Biden's fault. Him and his failing economy.
Where did all of the slides go?
I can’t believe it!
How did you get in?
Stunning views there at the end. thanks for the video!
This is super sad to see. I have tons of great memories there.
I used to go there every day when I was a kid. That was really sad, but gave me some closure. Thank you.
I went there to sucks its gone 😪
This place was fun back in the 90s, no amount of revitalization is gonna save it now. They'll probably turn it into some stupid condo development or a country club.
@@unknownwolf4046 Sad to see it die, my 6th grade class when there before school was out for the summer.
Silly dam people, don't they know barges can't read
I know the river conditions as a river pilot / captain above and below working out of Columbus with Kinder Morgan days. I come form columbus now in Houston Tx I was put in retirement after brain tumor surgery treated at the VA hospital here in Houston. from a river job as a green deckhand to first mate then steersman to pilot to captain on Mississippi River system. I’m not surprised by the best efforts from the barge fleets to fail because of barge traffic . I built along with kinder Morgan team members all the deadman stations with used Crain wiire and hand built all the spice wire eyes that support the fleet system above and below the railroad bridge. I walk in with all my uniforms and left kinder Morgan because of the unsafe under power of boat that was crap just to save money under a bullshit exception of a person that had now clue of other than trying to build a sail boat opps fail . To this day I will hold you accountable for your over rated job with kinder Morgan . I openly spoke in front of the mill and what was a lame duck effort in kinder Morgans failed effort .
If you go back, please fly over the Marina, especially the day storage area.
