Slade’s Speed & Kustom
Добавлен 23 авг 2011
Classic cars & trucks, blues/rock/metal & guitars fuel on my fire! This channel will mostly be about my 1960 Ford F100 traditional style hot rod build, and my 1974 AMC Gremlin street machine build.
Meet “Flipper” the 77 Pontiac Trans Am
My neighbor had some scrap metal for me and I noticed he had this as well and I asked him about it and he stated that he was about to send it to the junkyard. So $600 later I drug at home. It supposedly has a 455 in it, but we’ll see. I’m hoping the engine will turn overwith a little bit of work. I’m most likely going to flip this car.

Been trying to get her back on the road again so I can enjoy car shows. I plan on lowering it here soon as well, nothing too drastic, just to give it a nice rake/stance.

Hope you got a good deal on it.
@@RobertEast-i4y I certainly did bud, $600 :-)
@@SladeM.wow! Thats great! Good luck!
Actually the 428 HO 390hp is the engine pontiac people want, or the SD 421
@@aaronhollingsworth6808 those motors are rare as hens teeth. That’s like saying every Mopar guy wants the 413 max wedge versus the more available 440.
Some people may want the 428 for rarity. But the 455 is the motor to get, SD or HO, preferably SD. But for value I put the Ram Air IV at the top. For authenticity we all know 77 would be a 400. 455 is a good practical choice.
A TransAm! 455! Glenn
You cant just say 455. Is it a HO or a SD. BIG difference.
@@Matt-gb3mz maybe so,but with the availability of aftermarket heads , etc today. any Pontiac with a 455 is a score nowadays !
That year trans am did not come with a 455. My guess would be a low compression smog era 455 if it was swapped at some point. Most people who are building pontiac motors at this point are starting with a late 60's or early 70's 400 block. If they are serious they just get an aftermarket block which is an improvement over the stock castings.
@@DavidMorgan-gg7ic LOL You act like this is my first rodeo in the Pontiac game. Of course it’s been swapped, the last 455 you could get in a Trans Am was a 1976. And there’s a lot of high dollar aftermarket stuff around this engine, including nitrous so I doubt it’s anything stock!
Sorry man that is only good for parts. Too far gone Its basically a pandoras box. Went threw a similar situation with a 79 malibu
@@Tailgatesntoolboxes I never said I was gonna restore it. I saved it from the junkyard. It will yield quite a few parts for someone restoring one in much better shape.
@@SladeM.I’d restore it, it can only go up in value.
@@David12101 I have too many irons in the fire otherwise I would.
@@SladeM. same here, completely understand! She’s a beauty though. Someone will get a deal… or you’ll make a killing parting it out. 👍

@@ClassicChrome86 appreciate it, man thank you
@@SladeM. No problem!
She’s gonna look CLEAN once you shoot paint. This kind of effort on the body shows all the way to the final result
Niceeeeee
That"s a nice project truck, had a friend in high school,45 years ago who had that same truck. He took auto shop in hs and he had a parts truck the same year,He was very (is) talented. If you havn"t seen it,vice grip garage on you tube is excellent,he knows how to fix things on the cheap. That truck has great patina!I"d clear coat it and call the body done!
Thanks, this was my grandfather‘s truck. He had it since new and I got back in 2010 from North Alabama and slowly brought it back to life over the years. It’s still working progress and now it’s running a lot better after cleaning out the carburetor. As for vice grip garage, I watch him faithfully as well as Mortske repair, Puddins fab shop, NNKH as well as pole barn garage.
@@SladeM. Sounds like you found some good guidance. If it was your grandfathers you gotta get it done! You"ll be very proud and so would he.Nice thing is thats alot easier to work on than today"s overly, complicated garbage.
I MIGHT GO AS HIGH AS $10 DOLLARS FOR IT, BUT I'D HAVE TO SEE IT FIRST.
Well, it’s a good thing. It’s not for sale is it.
Post another one m8
Spider caps look damn good on their
Thanks for the shoutout! Your shop is really nice man. It is so well lit, Stevie Wonder could read a book in there! Very much looking forward to seeing the truck driving around again, and updates on the Gremlin.
That's a great looking truck !
Trade for a sporty? Lol
Naaw, truck belonged to my late grandfather. Its a family heirloom. Appreciate the offer though.
