What are those figurines on the shelf behind u
My collection of Gods. See video explaining each.
Not a boyfriend, but maybe a male acquaintance? I think there is something to the theory about Andrew's coat.
Or how about the only known person in the house, Lizzie Borden? She killed her parents.
@@bigprettyman3795 Another content provider put forth an intriguing hypothesis about a male acquaintance, who was one of the first people on the scene.
The first person on the scene was Dr Bowen. It’s a bullshit theory.
I wonder what has happened to that coat!
The cops should have asked the people at the bank and the other places he went that day if he was wearing the coat that morning. Guess no one thought it was a bit odd back then that a heavy winter coat was out on a 90 something degree day.
My 2 fedoras which are gray and black were made to mirror Jack Nicholson’s Fedoras in Batman.
Who says that is a "heavy" overcoat? thats all. but why wasnt it hung up somewhere? i admit the coat looks "stuffed" but not a drop of blood on her? not a spot that was missed? it is certainly plausible but her hair would need covering and no evidence of a scarf
I addressed that in my second video.
It is a heavy woolen overcoat. I know because I own one.
durring the inquest I believe that Lizzy was medicated on morpheme or something. that is the cause of the disorientating contradictions.
I mentioned that in this video and went in further in the next one. I don’t buy the morphine excuse. If you read the transcripts she’s coherent until he catches her in contradiction, then she’s conveniently confused I don’t think she ever thought reach this level of interrogation, and she hadn’t prepared.
Big pretty you still on here? And do you have a facebook group?
Yes I am and yes I do.
@bigprettyman3795 what is the facebook group?
You're absolutely right! I do believe ghosts/spirits exist but I don't claim to understand as to exactly what they are. There's evidence as to their existence, albeit mostly anecdotal. I do believe that there's some cranks out there making up stories for attention, but there's also some very credible people who have witnessed this phenomenon. I do have a ghost story from my family. My great-aunt told me that shortly after her mother (my great grandmother) died, she started hearing footsteps upstairs coming from my great grandmother's bedroom. My great grandmother lived with my great aunt at the end of her life. She also said that the telephone would ring randomly every now and then as well and she'd pick up and no one at the other end! My great grandmother died in 1987 and my great aunt told me this in 2003. She said it was more frequent the couple of years after she passed, but " things" happened from time to time. I don't remember my great grandmother as she died when I was 5, but I'm told that she was a very lively and somewhat mischievous lady!
Thank you for your story.
There's something else I wonder about. Lizzie took out the ironing board in front of the maid to iron handkerchiefs but said to police she was waiting for irons to heat on the stove. Next to Abby is a handkerchief on the floor. Abby won't be holding one to make a bed. Lizzie might distract Abby with a question about a handkerchief.
Now THAT is interesting! See what fresh eyes can see? I’m going look into this. Think you may have noticed something important! Bravo!
@@bigprettyman3795 something else makes me wonder. Lizzie can't risk a confrontation and have a struggle for the weapon. It has to be a surprise. Handkerchiefs are in a laundry basket. Put the weapon in the basket, cover it with the handkerchiefs, bring it upstairs and ask a stupid question, and Abby turns her back to finish her work, quickly put the basket down, pull out the weapon, handkerchief comes out with it, it's over.
That sounds plausible.
Lizzie was even gifted a Grand Tour of Europe in 1890 from her father. Genius work, by the way!
Yes he did. I mentioned this in my number 4 video. He was not a miser. That’s a widely accepted myth that has been completely discredited by a review of his bank and financial records.
Arnold Brown should've provided his sources, & I was disappointed his 2nd bk wasn't published. His wife never answered my 2 letters requesting info about it. Oh well. But the Lizzie Borden Quarterly didn't help. Brown had sent me a copy of his letter to the editor, & the LBQ trashed him in its writeup. The LBQ seemed like Jules R.'s personal newsletter of rehashing old news as new. Brown was right that the "power of the press" lay in the hands of those in charge of the press (look at it today, & he's right!). Thanks for your commentary. I'll listen to your other eps. Many thanks!
His book and theory are pure crap. Publishers were right to ignore him.
I'm sorry to hear about Len Rebello's passing. I'd provided information for his bk & his bk IS The Best on Lizzie. I forget his views, only that Lizzie dunit, but he wasn't sure how. "Billy" explains a lot, but there was no link to him & Lizzie's dad. You are right that TV docs are misleading. The biggie is that Bridget "heard" Lizzie laugh on the stairs when she unlocked the front door. It was likely the killer. Bridget assumed it was Lizzie, b/c she thought Lizzie was the only otr person home. The world will never know, & Lizzie got away w/murder (knowing it or doing it herself).
If she heard a laugh it was Lizzie and the killer. They are obviously one and the same.
What uf she paid someone to do it? Witnesses saw a suspicious man walking around the house that morning. I think Bridgette knew about it too i think Abby was already dead when she went out to wash windows..so people would see her outside.
No economic forensics evidence of a paid hitman. A paid hitman would use a gun not an axe or iron, no evidence of Bridgette’s involvement or a possible motive, According to blood evidence Abby was alive when Bridgette went out, and the so-called man lurking outside was a rumor from decades later. This is all blind speculation without a leg to stand on. Try again and base it on something within the evidence or it’s speculative fiction.
i love your channel
Thanks!
Will you do a dress up involving you wearing long rise dress slacks?
Not likely
Congratulations 👏🎩👒
I've not seen any videos lately. Since you got married?
No. I’ve made a few since then. I’ve just been too busy to contribute.
@@bigprettyman3795 hope that all is well.
I am not too inclined to rule out Bridget......Making her wash windows in that heat, could she have helped Lizzie.
Impossible. she was seen washing windows outside at the time Abby was killed. She had no motive and no opportunity with one of the victims. This isn’t Columbia or Monk. It’s real life.
Big Pretty, since I am a small pretty woman, l am not your target audience, but I discovered your channel because you made these great videos about Lizzie Borden. As a criminal psychologist who has looked into this famous case extensively, l can say that you covered it very well. I will leave a few comments about Lizzie Borden in the comment section of your Lizzie-videos. But when I started to check out more of your videos, I realized that your channel isn't about famous historical crimes, although you point out crimes against fashion now and then 😉 And I wanted to point out that there is a fashion assessoire for men which is absolutely disliked by me and many other women: ties! I know of course that there are many occasions where ties are mandatory. But I think that a tie is the silliest fashion assessoire which has been invented in the last 120 years. I need to look at the history of ties, but l think that ties developed from far more attractive neckerchieves which could look very attractive and keep the neck covered and warm. But ties don't have a practical function anymore. All men I know, think they are an uncomfortable nuisance, and they are glad when they can take them off. In Germany we have a very peculiar custom: in all areas where people celebrate carneval, and on each Thursday before the main festivities start, women are allowed to celebrate carneval without men, and when they meet men who are wearing ties, the women are allowed to cut the ties off and take them as trophies! On that day most men will wear cheap and unattractive ties, or ties which they got from their wives or moms but never really liked. I think that tie manufacturers are great fans of this custom 😉 Freud has called this carneval custom a symbolic castration, but maybe this custom developed because many women share my deep dislike of ties😊 That said, I think that your fashion advises for XL-sized men are very good, and you definitely know how to dress!
I love toes, and will always support them. Most women I’ve known love toes, and its drop in popularity disturbs me. A man without a tie turns their outfit automatically to a casual dress. You are of course welcome to your opinion, but as far as I’m concerned, ties are a requirement and there is no business or formal dress without them.
Oh, and ties of one form or another has been around 400 year, not 120 years. Get your facts straight. Thanks for your compliments.
@@bigprettyman3795 , thanks for answering 😀 Everybody is entitled to his or her opinions - and I want to point out that l didn't want to disparage your video at all. Your advise for other men of your size is very valuable. However, I think that outfits without ties are only deemed casual by convention, and conventions can change. There was a time before ties became mandatory.
@@bigprettyman3795 , I am talking about ties in their current form which have totally lost the practical functions of a neck bandana. And I mentioned that neckerchieves preceded today's ties. They have indeed been around in one form or another for many centuries. In Germany we have a more old fashioned word for ties - Krawatten. This word has French origins and means neckerchieves "according to Croatian fashion". They have allegedly been worn in order to distinguish friends from foes during the Thirty Years War.
It doesn’t need to change and definitely brings the outfit down to casual. As the old saying goes, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.
Lizzy loved animals .
Yes, she did.
Totally agree with you regarding the box looking 1970's. I have always thought that the bottle and cap looked 1930's or 1940's sort of art deco period. Having said that this is my signature cologne. I've worn it since the late 80's. Price/performance its hard to beat providing you like 1980's powerhouses. Good video. 👍
My theory is that the first murder Lizzie was wearing her sleeping clothes-- she put on a dress after and your theory is perfect for second murder
Incorrect. She had been up since 6:30am and was seen downstairs by Bridgette and Abby before 9am. She was fully dressed. Read the actual transcripts of the inquest and trial before concocting a theory.
Wouldn't they have found Abbey's blood on the coat? Or did they not have the technology at the time?
No, they couldn’t tell the difference between people’s blood at the time. Also, there’s no reason for Lizzie to wear the coat with her mother. She had an hour to clean up.
John Morse visit was planned , had a letter from Andrew asking him to come for a vist to discuss business of buying cattle. John had money of his own he owned land and cattle.
If it was Kosminski, why did he stop killing? Was he in an asylum by then?
I agree about Brown’s book. It’s crap and his theory has no basis in fact, especially regarding a complex conspiracy. However, sometimes the possible existence of a conspiracy actually satisfies Occam’s razor rather than negating it.
When? Example?
@@bigprettyman3795 I meant in the sense that the legal definition of conspiracy is very broad in most states. It's simply two or more people joining together, making a plan to violate the law and then acting on the plan. It happens all the time. Any criminal organization utilizes conspiracy to maintain itself. So, in that sense, conspiracies are everywhere. I wasn't referring to anything specific other than to agree with you about Brown's book. I enjoy your videos. Great work and unique presentation!
If she wanted to dispose of a dress, why burn it? She could just throw it away in the trash.
The molestation crap makes me so beyond mad. I’ve seen people using Lizzie giving her father a ring when she graduated highschool which he wore literally to his death as proof he saw her as like a wife or the door between her and Andrews room having a dresser by the door was to stop him getting in. And like people seem to forget Andrew is a victim here. This man was brutalized in his own home potentially by a daughter he loved and doted on. He never received justice and what do people do? Twist the narrative so he’s at fault for his own death in the most vile way. RIP Andrew and Abby Borden I ain’t buying any of this sorta crap
I completely agree.
Hay hay big pretty got your ears on how about some new video pleased? Posted 05/18/2024 at 10:30 A.M.
I’m working on it. Sorry for my long delay.
@@bigprettyman3795 Good things come to those who wait
Thank you. I've immensely enjoyed your very informative presentation about this case. I appreciate that you go over the time period and it's mores and sensibilities. It is vital that all who study this or any other historical case to understand how people thought in certain eras. We cannot apply 21st century attitudes to late 19th-early 20th century attitudes. I'd like for you to go over other past cases, especially from the more recent past. The OJ Simpson, Casey Anthony, West Memphis Three, etc.. come to mind. Oh, and the 1993 and 2005 Michael Jackson cases too. I think we'd all appreciate your insights!
Thank you for the compliment. It’s a similar case and has been noted several times. I was alive during those eras. Not nearly the difference as between Victorian and the 21st century. However, it is interesting and I’ll give it some serious thought.
See my last video on the subject. Think you’ll approve.
@@bigprettyman3795I've watched all your Lizzie Borden videos and some of them I've listened to twice! I really appreciate the scholarly approach to this case as well as your speculations based on the evidence. I hope you do other cases in the future. I've started to listen to your Jack the Ripper video too. One thing I wish the Victorians had was modern forensics! But alas, they did the best with what they had, I suppose.
Lizzie seemed to have issues with theft and her father enabled that behavior. So Lizzie wasn’t completely pure as we think. There was a little something going on with her that might be a lot deeper than we realize.
Did she? The rumors of her shop-lifting came after the small painting accusation from Providence. She protested and said had paid for them. Could have been an inventory or receipt mistake. Either way it was dropped without incident. There are NO OTHER RECORDED INCIDENTS. The rest was the rumor mill that was perpetuated by bad documentaries and movies. Don’t believe everything you read.
As a secular (my mother is Jew so I am Jewish by Jewish law and my father was raised nominally southern Baptist), I would love to see a comparative analysis between Christianity and Judaism.
Why?
Not a damn thing to do with this case whatsoever.
@@bigprettyman3795…..you should perhaps pay closer attention. At 45:18 he says he has a degree and studies comparative religions and if we would like to see something like that, let him know. I took him up on the invitation, proffered at the end of this video, to tell him I would like that and told him why. So, while you are correct, it had nothing to do with Lizzie Borden, it was something the channel creator/host brought up. I mean,if you are going to be judgmental chastise someone, try to make sure you are right first. In this case, you were not. Have a nice evening
lol. I should pay attention to myself. You should pay attention to whom you’re answering and the name of the video host. I’m the one who was talking on the video. I do indeed have a degree in Comparative Religious Studies, but Being Jewish doesn’t have anything to do with Lizzie Borden. However, yes I can see the cultural dilemma, and I will keep it in mind for a future video.
How did you get the transcripts?
I don’t know why I am so obsessed with Lizzie Borden.
Came here to catch up on Lizzie Borden and found sweetness. ❤🐈⬛
The iron makes much more sense. Especially with Abby. She set Lizzie off and turned and resumed cleaning and then boom. Makes total sense man. and then thinking:"oh shit no, this wasnt supposed to happen like this."
Congratulations!
The reason people try to find excuses for Lizzie is that she looks so benign and rather sweet in her younger photos. Andrew, being an elderly man past his prime, does not. Simple as that. (By the way, I like your comments about the iron being used rather than an axe or hatchet. People who haven't used an axe or hatchet wouldn't have thought of this, but I bow to your experience on the subject.)
I'm a huge true crime, history and Lizzie Borden fan.
Cleopatra woud be a great case to study..was she murdered or committed suicide and where are her and Antony's remains.
They are underwater and long ago deteriorated .
Good topic and interesting conclusion. I think you are absolutely right about the coat. A pity the police didn't come up with that theory at the time.
i have three bowlers , black , brown, and grey and love them even more since i steamed the front of the brim down looks great
A sexy Bear
The hat looks good on you brother. I usually wear a pork pie, or a snap brim fedora hat. I like the bowler. I've been thinking about buying one.
Let's face it... It's pork pie, or just pie in general, that we've had plenty of! But if I'm going to quit any kind of pie, it'll just be pork pie hats. But the Bowler looks great! ...I think it compliments our faces because the roundness of the tall crown balances the roundness of the face. The height helps lengthen the look of the face... It's a bit "slimming" by way of this illusion. ...Trick is to fit it properly by being certain it is proportional to your head. You should NEVER wear a Bowler that's too small for you, unless you're a Bolivian woman! (My first bowler was just delivered today, and I'm excited about wearing it tomorrow!)
I like the theory you've presented, and it makes sense.
Sure enjoyed your videos, and all the comments. Always wondered if Lizzie replayed the murders in her mind. Every day she had to think of what she had done. Some people tune it out ?
Thank you @Big Pretty Man! based upon watching this video I purchased a great herringbone flat cap. I"ve worn it daily for about a month and have yet to go out with it on that someone didn't mention how good it looks! My next one....The Bowler!
