Gamekeeper's Cottage

Situated in the county of Berkshire in the UK, Gamekeeper's Cottage is a 3 bedroom former farmworker's cottage with about 1/3 of an acre of land, including a small orchard and outbuildings.
Our journey started in late 2020, when we bought and moved into the cottage, which had been empty for about 6 months and prior to that a long term rental property. Structurally, the house is sound (which is more than can be said for the garage), but it needs a lot of TLC both internally and in the gardens.
COVID and work commitments made us put a lot of our plans on hold, but now it is all systems go as we start work on the renovation of the house and the garden.

You should probably use a shovel to scrape off the top layer of moss and then power wash it
With the benefit of hindsight, you are probably right, large chunks of it probably would have scraped off fairly easily.
Can anyone identify the bird that appears in the top right hand corner of the video at 5:18? I think that it is a female chaffinch, but I'm not 100% certain.
You’re a bit ahead of me here in Wales - my apples and pears are yet to blossom, although with the sunshine we’ve had today, hopefully it won’t be too far off. I’ve just subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your videos. (PS I have a gardening channel that you might like - check it out! 😉)

@@gamekeeperscottageberkshire Thanks! It was meant to include the barn but we ran out of money! So that's the next project that we're saving up for. Might be a while off yet though!

Great job, always nice to see people considering the wildlife in their gardens. Do you have a plan for the rest of the garden?
We have high level plans for the gardens as a whole, but not anything in depth. We know we want a lot less lawn and more flower borders and ideally a wildlife pond. But we haven't decided exactly where everything will go. We'll probably have a better idea as we start adding in paths and get a better idea of the space.
Big project. I've never seen the native hedge package before. Birds should enjoy it!
Our other mature hedges are full of birds, so we are hoping that eventually the same will happen with the new plants.
Thanks for a useful and informative video. I'm looking at using one of these types of corrugated roof sheets on my lean-to shed. Do you know if there is a suitable fixing to act as a flashing where the top of the roof joins the house wall?
I didn't need flashing, so I didn't pay attention to it, but I do remember seeing some Onduline specific flashing on one of the sites I visited during my research.
