Cut Flowers in September | Martin House Flowers
It was a sizzling hot weekend, but I managed to get into the cut flower garden Sunday morning. I filled a bucket of blooms to make an arrangement for my neighbor, along with a couple bright, cheerful arrangements for our home. This morning the zinnias were going strong, but by late afternoon I noticed the heat had sizzled many of the stems. So I certainly hope that these weren't the last zinnias of the season! Snapdragons are still producing a few new blooms every week, along with Bachelor's Buttons and Cosmos. While I was cutting in the garden, the bunny was circling around so he managed to photo bomb a couple times in this video! Thank you for joining me in my garden and helping me crea...

September Garden Walk & Taming Hostas | Martin House Flowers

It's almost the middle of September and although the days are still warm, the evenings are getting much cooler. The cut flower garden is still going strong, hydrangea blooms are in fall color mode and my roses are still blooming! Some of the hostas need some maintenance, so I thought I would share how I give them a bit of a hair cut before doing a full cut back in the Fall. #garden #gardeningti...

September Planting - Dappled Willow Tree, Replacing Day Lilies & Trialing Rudbeckia

You are right, we all have our own stories. I have been saddened too in watching some recent videos regarding people’s personal pain. It takes so much courage to share those things. But how wonderful to have a community that is so loving, caring, and supportive. Also, I’m cheering you on for going to market next year! Keep moving forward, you have so much to share. I loved watching your garden timeline. What a beautiful transformation in such a short time! I am so in love with your greenhouse. I had to laugh when you mentioned getting rid of your daylilies. I am ready to pull out many of mine too. Although they rebloom, they just look messy by August, and take so much work. I'm loving the lavender idea. I will be watching next spring to see how they do if you decide to go with that, and may try it too. I did replace some of my Stella d'oro's in my driveway garden with Tuscan Gold false sunflower. Because they are in part shade, they stay on the shorter side (about the same size as the daylilies). And they bloomed all summer. That might be an option towards the back. Can't wait to see what you decide. Thanks for sharing your gardens!
