Thanks. Why no new videos?
On the machines that I have worked on, that D-spacer goes in from the other side. Th way shown will have the drive pulley engaged all the time, not by the clutch!!!
No. Thank you. Short and informative.
Is it possible to put a larger pulley on an electric clutch?
I’ve got a hustler raptor, where do I get diagrams like this from, thank you
A clutch needs 4A permanently to run. The PTO switch allows 10A max. But Is there a 12V relay activated between the switch and the clutch for protection, or runs always the current directly from the switch to the clutch on most of all mowers? Mine is a Cub Cadet XT2 QR106 with FR 651 Kawa with 110H use. It works fine during half an hour, but the blades stop after that, run again after somme minutes and so one. No security switches issue, no 12V current issue to the clutch, good resistance value (3,12 ohms) no bearings issue after control, clutch opened, very clean with good and dry contact surfaces. The clutch is very hot after use (cannot put the hand) but i think it's normal, no? (I read between 170 and 220°C on the manuals) ...So can it be a faulty relay if one is installed , or is there no relay on the circuit?
Best thing l ever did was get rid of this ridiculous type of clutch, and made a simple linkage with idler. Now beautiful, smooth engagement. Good riddance 😂NOT
Need a special to grab the flats on that bushing. It’s down in a well area in mine. No tools I have now will grab it.
Thank you for stating that there's no polarity on the two wire connector! I broke the wires and had no way to determine such, even after viewing many videos.. A couple of your words saved my day! Thanks again!
Whats blowing the fuse is the yellow wire under the pto switch i cut it in half and no more blown fuse so the yellow wire is a power wire but the switch still had power going to it because i can pull it a little more and hear the bottom relay click but the switch without the yellow wire still doesn't disengage the clutch to shut the blade off i need to disengage the belt
No mines blue wire on blue and black on black I've already tried switching as your talking about tried out on the John deere sst18
Thanks very much for sharing this video.
Great video. Wish I had seen this earlier. Just bought new clutch
Im gonna just make mine none electrical clutch make it cable engagement
WELL PRESENTED. Thank you.
Thanks for posting this! I’ve got two questions if you have a moment or two: When its assembled, should the pulley spin freely? What happens if the brake magnet(s) have broken?
My pto clutch only has a washer. How do I get it to stop spinning while I torque it?
Take apart a gt262 clutch to clean up and deduct and paint
The DC voltage coming from my battery at full throttle is 14.40 VDC. What can I do to reduce this to meet the 14 VDC max?
And then….. I don’t think we will ever know
i use antisiege on my lawn mower blades....and it helps to get them off...is it okay to use a little on these clutches....i have extreme clutch on my John Deere 190c it works great..
Very helpful video.
My mower keeps blowing fuses, i traced the harness and found the diode fell apart. What size diode do i need to repair?
Have you found what size yet
Why no videos about setting the gap on theses clutches?
Does the Armature being placed UNDER to Magnets only apply to an Xtreme Clutch or all Clutches manufactured? I reassembled another "very similar" looking New Clutch, using your method, installed it and "Sparks Flew" out from around the Armature / Magnets when 1st engaged. Plus it appears to "engage very slowly," about 8-10 seconds, before coming up to full speed on Blade Engagement. Any thoughts? Oh yes, the Sparks subsided / quit after about 6-8 minutes after 1st engagement.
Do you have a video on how to change the rotation?
Are rebuilding these worth rebuilding? My dealer wants $700 for mine
Do you have have link I can order a pto clutch with a 1" Shaft and it needs to be CW...
I disagree that just doing a bench test by applying 12-volt DC to the connector will confirm that the PTO clutch is good. I recently changed the PTO clutch on a John Deere F911. The clutch would engage and hold perfectly fine in operation, but after about 20 minutes of running it would damage one of the interlock switches in the circuit rendering that switch inoperative. We replaced that switch twice thinking it just was a bad switch. After the second failure tested the resistance on the clutch windings. Measurement was 1.4 ohms, replacement OEM clutch from another machine measured 3.4. That results in the clutch drawing more than twice the amperage then as you supposed to. That larger current flow through the safety interlock switch exceeded its rating and destroyed. Replaced the clutch what's a good used one from another machine we had, replaced the interlock switch again and it has been operating without problems since.
My F935 will blow the PTO fuse after 20 minutes.. not sure the issue ..
@@mattminauro453 most likely it is the windings in the field coil of the clutch that are starting to short out, as was the case with ours. Get a digital multimeter, unhook the connector to the wiring harness that is close to the clutch, test from one terminal to the other on the clutch with the digital multimeter set to ohms (20 to 100, whatever is the lowest ohm value on the meter you have). It should read somewhere around 3.4 ohms. If it is less than 2 ohms The windings are beginning to short and it will be drawing much higher current than it is supposed to. That could cause the fuse to blow or it could damage the safety switch as it did in our case. If the windings do test good then the next most likely problem would be you have a wire in the wiring harness going to the PTO clutch that has a bare spot in the insulation and is touching the metal frame of the mower. Again, this situation would cause high current flow.
@XtremeOutdoorPowerEquipment is there a better clutch out there on the market?
Excellent video You sold me Wish you had a link to your website
Was replacing the idler pulleys & belt on an X series Deere and couldnt get belt off with out removing clutch which I, finally managed to do - get off - but.... when went to reassemble clutch I COULD NOT figure how to get the armature under the brake lip .... until I watched your ...very simple method of simply compressing one side of the springy armature.....Viola!!!! Thank you!!
Great video. I have a question though. On these clutch assemblies, the mechanical power comes from the engine shaft to the inner bore of the clutch. Is it ok to have the mechanical power coming from a belt on the pully and driving the shaft at its center? In other words...the other way around.
Piece of junk.
DC or ac?
It's always DC when it's battery powered
@@3613jeremy I ask cause I have a mower with no battery with an electric pto clutch
I'm not sure what you have the only combustion engines I know of that don't use batteries are the really old manual crank engines those wouldn't have an electric pto they used oil lamps as head lights
@@3613jeremy there are manual scag zero turns that are crank started, it uses the ogura pto clutch to engage the blades, I already fixed it but was going through these videos and piecing info together. At the time of my original comment since the engines give out ac I wanted to be sure the clutch actually got dc or if I was missing something since it has no battery. It does get dc end of the story even with no battery ,yes no-battery mowers exist and some use a pto clutch
Oh Great ! Now bearings are racist. What’ll it be next ?
The old one is the best it is adjustable
It doesn't appear they supply too many parts to rebuild these. I have a Warner 5228-57 with a broken armature disk/pulley. Looks easy to rebuild.
He says lightly tap. Then pounds the shit out of it 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have a small engine repair shop. These are the only electric clutches I’ll buy. Quality is top notch.
Thanks for the heads up about checking the voltage, mine was high, and replacing the battery fixed it. Would have been sad if I'd ignored it and burned up the new clutch.
Wow, thanks for this video, went through a lot of effort to get the old seized pto clutch off my mower, got my new one from you on there, but seeing this video, checked the voltage and found 14.8V. Was that the reason the old clutch faulted? Wasn't going to risk it. Took my (3 yr old) old battery out, tested bad, new battery in there just now, sure enough it's now down to 14.1V, thanks for making it evident enough that I should troubleshoot the voltage!!!
I need video for installation disk rivets for this clutch
i have a husqvarna lgt 2654, and has the kohler 7000. it bogs down or stalls when engaging pto when the engine is cold. but if the engine is warmed up first, then it doesnt bog or stall when i engage pto. any suggestions? i replaced fuel filter, checked the belts and spindles which move freely, replaced the voltage regulator, cleaned the pto connector and seat safety switches with electronic spray, made sure battery was good, removed spark plug wires and did not have engine stall. any help would be appreciated..ty
Thanks for the video! I don't think I ever would have figured it out myself. I used a 7/8" socket instead of the D-spacer to get the pulley off. It was a little snug, so I used a little light oil to make sure it didn't grab. Definitely won't fall out while you're hitting it. Worked beautifully.

Ya good luck with that tap tap tap bullshit. 😏
Use Kroll oil it's the best penetrating oil money can be
ZZZzzzz. Many people are putting these on their mowers, not their tables
I looking for a eclutch for a homemade atv snow blower. I have a predator 420 motor. Can you get me where I need to be with the proper setup? I used a centrifugal clutch but can't achieve the speed I need for the blower. I need a bigger pulley the eclutch has these
Can the bracket be bolted to the motor?
I need a PTO clutch for my old 4041 Simplicity tractor, do you have something that will fit this?
I know one thing , if u don't tork that bolt 🔩 your going to destroy a clutch. I installed a new clutch and I didn't tork the bolt. While I was mowing I noticed a strange sound. So I looked at the clutch while the mower was running and it was wobbling about a quarter of an inch out of center. I stopped cutting and looked the clutch over for any damedge. I was lucky and everything was ok. But I torkted the bolt to the proper tork. After that I have not had any problems.
