In metal process, particularly SLM how accurate is process simulation and can it predict the success of a build considering optimised geometry could be novel each time? It is accurate enough to become a “mandatory” tool to check that the build preparation has been done correctly, and be confident that the part will not distort due to design reasons. Process simulation is done after the geometry has been optimised and the design has been fixed.

Which Technologies are you using at the MTC for polymer 3D Printing? Bearing in mind that we use technologies from external partners as well, there are (currently) Stereo lithography, PolyJet, Binder Jetting, FDM, FFF, FFF+CF, Large format extrusion, and MJF machines at the MTC.

I want to learn more about how they use algorithm based design methods I mean scripting for complex 3d shapes? Do MTC have any cases of using biomimicry for additive manufacturing applications? Searching for tutorials about visual programming with CAD software such as Autodesk Dynamo or McNeel Rhino3D (+Grasshopper) would be a good starting point. There are many reasons why the UK now has a lack of industrial engineers; lack of government support to the industry, lack of investment by British companies leading to the eventual decline and poor managerial leadership; quality & excellence never seemed to be the driving forces.
