How to increase in Moss Stitch (US Seed Stitch)
First upload, please be kind!
I am demonstrating a method of increasing stitches on British Moss Stitch (aka US Seed Stitch) that does not break the checkerboard-style pattern.
Apologies for very amateur video. Feedback and advice greatly appreciated as I would love to get better at this and create more tutorials. :)

Thank you so much!
Can you demonstrate with continental style? I’m having trouble figuring it out. Thanks!
Thank you! I was going bananas trying to figure this out myself!
Good news, bad news: This helped me tremendously.....I've got some frogging to do! Thanks very much.
Hi Megan. THANK YOU so much!!! Your tutorial is straight forward and easy to follow🎉. My baby garment lives to see another day outside of the bin😆
You were very helpful as I didn't know how to do the increase in moss st. Thanks.
Thank you SO MUCH! Brilliantly demonstrated.
so helpful!!! this is the only video i've found that actually shows this well and explains why this works!!! currently knitting a jumper and my pattern calls for increases but the pattern isnt in seed stitch and seed stitch is the look i'm really set on. Thank you so much. Was sad to see you haven't uploaded any other videos, but I hope you're still knitting and enjoying your crafts
So appreciate your help. I can't thank you enough. I tore my work apart 3 times 'cos I couldn't get it right. Please keep making your videos to help me & others
Thank you for this!! 🙏🏼 it’s really hard to find anything on seed stitch increases. Do you by chance know how to increase double seed stitch?
Exactly what I needed, thank you so so much 😢😢
Thank you so much for this amazing explanation. I finally figured out how to knit my pattern thanks to your video! Much appreciated and happy knitting!
thank you for the clear and simple demostration, trying to work raglan sweater with front and back seed stitch, you just freed me from the struggle ❤❤
This is a lovely demonstration that helped me carry on with my pattern. Clear as a bell. We’ll done!
Oh my goodness - THANK YOU! I'm a beginner, and have been puzzling over this all week - you have saved me from pulling out my hair! This is a brilliant video - thank you!
After numerous redos I finally found this video, thank you!!!
Thank you 🧶🧶🧶
Brilliant little demo video, thank you so much! Just doing this for the first time on an Aran cardigan and the sleeve increases seemed impossible without a mess. No fuss, no long winded intro just good info well explained. Life saver :)
Thank you so much! I'm knitting a sleeve with seed st and it was a whole mess trying to keep the pattern going 😭
Thank you so much!!! This is exactly what I needed to find, to continue the project I’m working on. The project calls for stockinette but I chose to change out the stitch to the seed stitch. There are Increases in the pattern and I suspected the normal M1Ls and Rs were not gonna work. Times like this, I love the internet. The tutorial was very clear and concise. Again… thank you!!!!
Been really confused by the pattern instructions and this was really clear and explained simply. THANKS!
#2 Directions say inc 1 st in from beg and end of every 12th R without breaking DM pattern. Thanks Beth K
This was great! Would you be able to demonstrate how to increase in Double Moss Stitch at each end? I can't find any videos.
That was SO helpful. Really well explained and exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you for teaching viewers how to increase in moss/seed stitch. I feel more confident about increasing in this pattern.
Thank you so so much
thank you, this was really helpful. good clear instructions. helped me loads.
I had to watch video again. I like the BIG needles too. Its much easier to see the stitches. Thanks! 🧶❤🧶🪡
Thank you so much!! This was really helpful!
This is perfect and so well explained!! Literally every seed stitch pattern with end increases should link to this video
Thank you soooooooo much! This has got to be the most straightforward videos to follow. Consider me a new follower 😊
AT LAST! I found a video very helpful! 😁 ive been increasing in knit stitch all the time at the very start when it says increase so good to know how to do the purl. Thanks again! 📍⚘💚✂️
Thank you so much for this, Just what I was searching for. Very clear!! all the best from the Netherlands :)
Awesome teaching. I was going crazy trying to figure out how to do this. Great video for your first time. Keep it up and soon you'll be a pro....Thanks so much for sharing. Stay safe.
Oh my gosh thank you so much. I have directions for a pattern that says to do something that would really disrupt the pattern and would seem to get worse and worse the more increase rows I've done. Your way is wonderful
Thank you so much for this video x xxx It was really clear and helpful x
You have created a wonderfully clear, concise and helpful video. I’d been struggling to work out how to do this and, hey presto, you provided the answer! Thank you so much. I hope you continue to create tutorials like these.
Thank you sooo much, fantastic tutorial. I've been too scared to start a moss stitch pom pom scarf. Can you please confirm if I need to adapt when decreasing at the end of my scarf?
hi salma! i’m glad it was helpful! is this by any chance the wool & the gang suspicious scarf pattern? as this is exactly what i first made using moss stitch! when you decrease you can use your preferred method, for me this is just K2tog :) it’s just a matter of watching what you were doing with each stitch on the preceding row and making sure you do the correct corresponding knit or purl! ...i hope that makes sense. been a very long day!! but it really makes me happy that this video is still useful :)
@@wolfpencilmap I do like wool and the gang, but I'm making it up this time. A super chunky moss stitch pom pom scarf with a selvedge edge. I want the ends to be tapered rather than straight. Giant pom poms of course 🤣
I just can't thank you enough, amazing video, that helped me enormously to complete the SIdar Design No S6870.
Very useful, thank you
Thank you ! I needed to know how to increase on a moss / seed stitch pattern, this is the first video that's clear.
thanks very helpful
I'm working without a pattern (silly me), and I've tried for days to figure this out! THANK YOU so much!
Clear and helpful!Thanks
I've been looking for a video on how to knit a triangle scarf in seed stich for ages - plenty of crochet vids, but this was the only one that showed how to increase while maintaining the checkerboards. Thanks for making this!
Thank you! I was thinking of kfb, but knew that wasn’t exactly right. Great job for your 1st video and extremely helpful demonstration.
Thank you sooooo much!! I was looking for a video to help me with this but nothing addressed this technique. This video hits it right on. I'm so grateful for your knowledge and efforts!!!! A stitch in time saves nine! You have saved me a lot of time and trouble!!!
Omg! Thank you so much! I couldnt for the life of me work this out, im so glad you have. Now my nephew can have his first winter hat! Thank you thank youu 😊
Thank you! Have been trying to figure this out!
Thank you! This gets me part way there. I need to increase and decrease in the double moss stitch. Ack!
