Wonderful history, sounds similar to the story my grandfather told me, he was born in chile, he's parents arrived to chile from Germany. Other than identifying myself as an American Jew I also say Latin Jew do to my Latin America roots. I like to learn about about the Latin Jewish history. I Remember when my grandma would watch Don Francisco's sábado gigante show, and later I found out that Don Francisco is Jewish that gave me a sense of excitement, cause there was Don Francisco a latin Jew all latinos love.

Hello I’m from Yucatan Mexico and so were my ancestors, through DNA test I’ve discovered that I’m an Ashkenazi descendant , probably from my great grandmother who was abandoned around 1889 in a Yucatan east Village, now Tizimin. Hope someone could bring me some light over my situation 😊

I know most these songs, and love them, especially the Woody Guthrie ones, but I had no idea that “which side are you on?” was written by a woman from East Tennessee! I knew it wasn’t Sarah Ogan Gunning when they were telling the story (though, let’s be honest, her story is similar to Reece’s), so I just learned a new Appalachian and East Tennesseean who makes me LESS embarrassed to be from there. I love my socialist ancestors (my family has been in Southern Appalachia for 200 years), how did we as a whole stray so far from them, I wonder, to where most people in East TN support the fascist MAGAts? I will never understand. But these songs always bring tears to my eyes, and I hope we can keep them, and their spirit, alive as fascism knocks on our door yet again. 😭 Now I gotta learn more about Florence Reece.

Btw I wish I would want to hear Lori's opinions because she is the youngest generation of the Jewish Community in Turkey. It would be great to listen to Turkey she experienced. Because there is 3 generation and I am really curious how the interactions changed between the Turks and Jewish with good and bad memories.
