Hi George, since we didnt visit Liberty Island, the free ferry does it fine for us :-)

@@chrispamtravelbuddies Yes, Sorry I made a mistake, I thought the free ferry goes to liberty island but it does not (I thought liberty island and statin island were the same!) I hope you had a good time! :)

The only reason to take the ferry is because it is free. Yes it is a nice ride , especially on a hot day. However other than going by the Statue of liberty there is not so much to see. It is up to you how interesting immigration story is to you. As an american of course we are mostly all immigrants so we want to go see it. As a European though maybe you don't care so much about it.

@3markaw I've been to governors Island once and it was quite interesting, even not having any personal relations. But that's not a place I would need to visit again...

You get to the entrance by car. From there you have to take the shuttle bus. When paying the entrance fee, the skyglide is optional and (may 2023) additional 29$). You can't drive with your own car

Hi, Arushi. Yes, may is a hot month, but we thought it was alright. Just avoid Bad Water Basin around noon, put on a hat, suncreme and bring enough water... enjoy 😉

We did camp grounds and hotels. We wanted the comfort of a real bed and shower sometimes 😅 I wish you a great trip. Hope you will share your experiences
