Interesting subject and comments, quite intelligent 😀 You disagree with Tarkovsky that he doesn't use symbolism: he's said "we can analyse the formula that constitutes a symbol, while metaphor is a being-within-itself, it's a monomial. It falls apart at any attempt of touching it." "A literary work can only be received through symbols, through concepts - for that is what words are; but cinema, like music, allows for utterly direct, emotional, sensuous perception of the work." What in your mind (if anything) differentiates (visual) metaphor from symbolism, and how/why do you think Tarkosky differentiated them? Metaphor as merely a more subtle symbolism or the symbolism of a sequence or series of images - like how you describe the sequence of pseudo-crucifixion position, head turn, empty chairs as Jesus' death and resurrection, or...? Cool 4-years ago video 👌

*I never knew his Back story. I first saw him on "TMC" back in the 80's. His accident seemed so familiar (I'm in Houston). He was( and is ) a fantastic Character and top notch Movie Master Critic. His reviews ...stories and antidotes are infamous and funny as hell.Glad to see hes back where he belongs*
