I’ve seen precincts in Madison that have over 2200 Harris votes and less than 100 Trump votes. If you want a more “swing state” experience you should have gone to Green Bay, or really any of the mid sized cities scattered throughout the state. They’re very purple. Madison Wisconsin is a contender for most liberal city in the country.

Um… I feel like the reporter doesn’t understand Baltimore at all. The Italian element is not as high profile in Baltimore as it is in Chicago or other cities. The mafia is not an influence the way other gangs are as a presence in Baltimore. Little Italy is not a HUGE ITALIAN HUB. It’s fairly small and much of it is about food & there’s a large pull towards tourists because of its proximity to Fells Point and Inner Harbor. If you REALLY want to know his “hood,” check out where he went to school. That is so much more relevant than Little Italy to this conversation. Also, was Luigi’s family based in Baltimore CITY or Baltimore COUNTY (Baltimore City is its own county.) Luigi went to THE premiere boys’ school in this city. It’s a private school. (That means he could have lived in the region… I don’t know if he had to even live in the city limits to attend.) Neighborhoods mean a lot here, and most of them are not based on ethnicity the way, say, they might be in New York. A lot more has to do with money… and the predominant culture is black. It’s not the only culture (and it’s not homogeneous to begin with) but it is the primary one. Rolland Park has money. That sets it apart (and its community) from the majority of Baltimore [City] as a whole, to begin with. Socioeconomic differences are more pronounced than whatever European subgroup someone hails from. When I heard that the CEO murderer was from Baltimore, I thought, “here we go…” I was shocked to find out that he was white. I was also shocked to find out he came from money. Those are both minority statistics here. If you’re looking for The Godfather, you don’t know what town you’re in. The gangsters here are a different type. Whatever mafia presence is here is well concealed. (And probably outsourced.) Most of the people you interviewed were… tourists. (Or “visitors from out of town.”) I feel like you maybe had a good interview… for a different location. Baltimore is not like most East Cost or (considering Chicago) major American cities. I wouldn’t know that if I hadn’t lived here for 25 years. It’s hard to guess, but it would be worth researching in preparation for an interview.
