At pace it's hard to not love this trail. Loose and fast, there are no real features of note, just a super fun line down the hill! It also gets really close to the new RedBull hardline course (not that the features are that noticeable because they are sooo big!). I appreciate the trails are in a working pine plantation, but I can't help imagining how more incredible this trail would be surrounded by native bush.
The Department of Conservation is working on some big changes to allow more trails for bikes on conservation land. So hopefully your dream becomes a reality sooner than you think.
Love ya channel Jamie! Just recently got down to roto for a 5 night stay and to hit the trails for the 1st time. What a mint few days! My wife and 6yr old son loved this trail (as did i), was great for their confidence and to up their riding abilities a bit more

Honestly, if I had to tell the truth, I’m addicted to mountain biking too but primarily downhill mountain biking

My 61/2 yr old grandson likes this track, gets some good speed, part 2 he likes a little better😊
Some people find the view off of those corners a little too inviting. My dad is 67 and he loved it too! It's a great one for a lot of people!

Hey Ryan - It starts from the top of the Public Shuttle drop off. It is heaps of fun so you should definately hunt it out or book on with a guide like myself. Let me know if you want more info

Rode this 3 weeks ago. Now one of my favourites.
I remember when I first started it was so hard to ride and rough as guts. It was a great project and became a favourite and then it just got better and better 🤙
Rode this today. Tiny bit rutty and slippery in places, but overall rode well and it's a pretty part of the bush 😁
I reckon tiny bit is an understatement. It’s definitely got a few good ruts in it that pack a 👊 glad you enjoyed it and them 🙌

If I get the chance I’ll let you know. I rode a few things on the hardtail a few years ago and man it’s loose! I moved it on though because I got sick of the drivetrain maintenance and stuck with my katipō. I have to be honest, it’s way more forgiving too!

@@NewZealandMountainBiking yeah it's super fast and flowing, plus open to us older and more risk adverse types 😉 A really good idea would be to do a video guide of the redwoods, because it's one of those areas that the inside scoop goes a long way to a good time. But whatever you do, keep up the content 👍👍
If you’ve got the time, you could sift through the videos on the channel but we do offer guiding as one of our services so we do have a lot more knowledge up our sleeves.
I’m flying from Vancouver to Auckland in February. Thinking of riding here a few days before heading further south.
I’d highly recommend it. You could easily spend a week in Rotorua before heading south. Check out the trips we run for some ideas. They’re on the NZMTB.com website

Hey there! I just wanted to share that I've been riding mountain bikes for about 5-6 years now, and I recently had a lesson with Jamie that completely changed my perspective. I thought I knew it all, but boy was I wrong! I now have a newfound appreciation for the skills I learned in my first lesson and feel like a smarter, smoother rider because of it. Btw, love the moto brapps...moto is part of my background and that no doubt influenced my design decisions...of course I had to massage all that into the cycleways design criteria...although the digger crews often did not deliver on my design approach. But overall it worked out okay, and is fun to blast through....
