Suzuki DR650 Exhaust sound level comparison

2012 SUZUKI DR650 custom scrambler. Comparing my custom exhaust (with modified baffle) with a Screaming Demon Exhaust (no baffle). My custom exhaust is loud and has a very raw metallic sound - I bought a cheap baffle insert which I modified and wrapped with baffle packing to cut down the sound. It helps a bit but is still very loud. I bought the Screaming Demon exhaust because it has baffle opt...
Rian- a Sunday at Pinjar 20th Mar 22

20th March 2022 Rian and dad spending a Sunday morning at Pinjar. We hadn’t been here for a couple of months as the track gets dry & boggy from being ripped up over a long summer. Trying to get Rian to be a bit more chatty with the camera 😝
Rian- new decals & a day at Pinjar 9th Jan 2022
Просмотров 722 года назад
9th Jan 2022 Rian got new decals for his CRF50 for Christmas and we finally got to take the bikes out for the first time in a few months & first time for 2022. A hot summer means the track is dry and soft. I thought we would change up the camera angles for this one. (The date stamp off one camera is incorrect).

Mucking around testing the sound of 2 custom exhausts I have. The first one has a modified baffle/ db killer insert wrapped in packing. The second one was just shortened and also has a db killer insert. Both have Stock header pipe.
Looks awesome. I want to do up my front headlight and guard like yours. Really nice looking. I would love to see the details!
🇦🇺😎👍
Ouah! Amazing DR custom! Thanks for that 🤌🏼 Is it possible to know how much this transformation cost you in money and time? Good ride !
Thanks. Time? Years 😝 hard to gauge as depends how much time you can spend on it & how much you do it yourself. The major part of the transformation it was unrideable for about 8 months. Some stuff was done professionally some by me- I’d do little bits at a time. Cost is kind of the same- depends how much you do yourself. Eg painting the tank costs me maybe $120 in paint coz I do it myself. You could take a bike to a custom shop to do the whole lot, maybe take them a couple of months & probably cost just as much as the bike costs.
Looks good but you can tell its cheap china ceap by the way everything is vibrating around when he revs the engine
Well it is a cheap Chinese bike. The video makes the plastics look like they are loose and wavy but they actually aren’t that bad.
Very cool, well done!
Love the front end! Any info on headlight/fairing?
mentioned in the video @3:30 that headlight is a ebay cheapie- since the video I have replaced with a Purpose Built Moto headlight. and the windscreen is an ebay cheapie I just painted white.
Think I’m going to do something similar to my 400e… nice work
@@denhamhunter753 this is worth a look for the 400 purposebuiltmoto.com/blogs/gallery/2018-suzuki-drz400-street-tracker-motorcycle
Sick build. Good work.
Could you provide what part number you used? I bought one but is meant for sp3 not sm155
YC110-136-07-BK. Its also noted in the video at about 3:30
Best looking DR650 i have seen so far - great job! How does it ride?
Thanks. Rides great. Nice blend of road manners and off road manners. Since the video I raised it back to height midway between stock & lowered- just because it looked a bit too squatted down. I’ve always been tuning it with a afr tuner & finding I’ve been running on the rich side.
Really lovely build. Could you tell me what kind of range you get from the tank?
It’s a little bit over 12L so similar to a stock tank- about 200km
Thanks for the reply. Planning on doing something similar with a 1992 RS.
Wow well done
Niceee!!! Thanks for sharing. I have a 18 year Old DR
Kool bike!
Nice build!
Beautiful bike, man. I wonder how much these scramblers weigh. Do you have a weight for your build?
Thanks. Yes, the weight is something I pay attention to. I weighed it with some Fitbit scales and it was 154kg with an empty fuel tank. I just changed the exhaust yesterday which is heavier than that custom exhaust by about 1kg. There’s some steel made brackets etc that I might trim down to shave a little more weight.
@@dalepaddon8904 A fine job! Some of your solutions could come in handy in my plans. I ride -97 which looks pretty standard, but has lots of mods. Last weekend I went lithium-ion, which dropped the weight three kilos. Light weight is very important to me.
@@markkumanninen6524 lithium batteries are good bang for buck when it comes to cutting kilos
Really nice build, thank you for sharing it!
lovely build
Great build on that dr650 very sharp
What a beauty, we'll done!
Nice 👍
Sweet !!! Looks like a very fun bike to scoot around on, I imagine it feels totally different than a standard DR
Thanks! The main things that change the feel are the seating position (where the tank & seat make you sit depending on their size/shape) and the wheels/tyres. Otherwise it’s still very DR. 👍
Looks great man! Triumph 865 air cooled scramblers look amazing to me and I've ridden a few and think you have struck the balance point nicely between looks and function. Looking for a cheap DR650 now to make my own! Thanks for the terrific content!
Thanks. It’s still not quite finished for me though (maybe never will be)… not sure what next though. Maybe paint the oval number plates
@@dalepaddon8904 Take it out for an overnight in the mountains is what I'd do.
Awesome
Super.
Nice job. What is the width of the rear rim ? Thanks
Good point - I didn’t mention that the rear rim is changed also. Front 19x 2.5 Rear 17x 4.25 Tyres 110/80R19, 150/70R17
@@dalepaddon8904 Thanks. I have DR650 with 17" front and rear wheels and would like to go with a 19" front.
@@ghostryderinthesky this wheel set was originally a super Moto 17/17 set. I had the front relaced to a 19”
Now that is smick. A plan for mine when I am to old for offroad stuff, a custom build. Very cool.
Such a clean build. Great job on making the bike look gorgeous and still maintaining it's performance capabilities. Thanks for the overview!
Very nice! Would love to find out more about the tank?
8:08 min in!
@@dalepaddon8904 was more interested in hearing about fitment and ease of change over... More details required haha, I like it!
Maybe in a video another day 👍
Your custom dr650 looks super rad man! What gas tank is on it? Also did you chop the frame in the rear?
Thanks! Frame has been hooped right at the end of the tail only. It’s a Sol Invictus (Australia name but maybe named something else internationally) tank.
Great sound and sweet looking scrambler build on the dr👍 any chance of seeing a walk around of the bike in the future?
Thanks! Yeah been meaning to do one for a while!
