Resale House vs. New Build: Pros and Cons Explained
Yeah, I came across your video. It’s a year old but if you read this, is there anything you could do to keep the people from California moving here seeing how L. A. has burnt down to the ground
Thanks for watching! But no, I won't stop people from moving here. Indiana is a great place to live (if you can handle the downsides). The people in California that lost their homes are the people that most need a new place to live, and if Indiana suits their needs then all Hoosiers should welcome them with open arms.
The biggest mistake in moving to Indiana is moving to Indiana.
I believe that Indiana is going to have a much better time in the future and places like Ill or Mich or Ohio and Ky are not as balanced as the Hoosier state is. This is the strength of our state, which is just the way Hoosiers like it.
Moved here a few years ago and am still regularly astounded by the sense of community and amount of opportunity in Carmel. Love it here
I'm from Brazil and I'm loving your videos! 🥰
I appreciate the kind words and welcome to the channel!
Not as many republicans as used to be because of Trump
I live north of Marion county . Folks buying as fast as they can build them . Almost rare to see an Indiana license plate .
Have lived in Carmel 2 different times, it's not as good as they would like you to think.
It definitely has its pros and cons, like any place.
@@geesamanhomes It's no Zionsville that's for sure :)
Basically in the end has not woken enough. When they say cultural themes.
I love Indiana
Never trust a real estate agent for opinions on any move.
You're right; never trust the person that knows the area and is good at helping people find a place to live that suits their needs. You should definitely stay away from those people!
Lived here all my life and would never leave this great state. Most people leave for warmer weather but personally I like the four seasons. Personally know many people that have left but eventually came back for various reasons. The only bad thing I can say about Indiana is that its democratic controlled cities just plain suck.
I LIVE IN INDY
In my experience, most Hoosiers don't want to compete with other states on equal terms. Their attitude seems to be, if you want those things, move there. They like it smaller, slower, simpler, more real.
An island in the stream.
I work in a high tech environment that employs several hundred people at one facility and yes, the new hires get recruited from all over the country, stay a couple years then leave the state. Main issues are lack of entertainment, little ethnic diversity, social conservatism, nepotism among the born-here employees and little opportunity within the state for similar employment.
@@kraquin in other words, not WOKE ENOUGH. And that’s fine with me.
Rose-Hulman. You forgot Rose-Hulman. Best undergraduate engineering school in the nation
Before I even clicked on your video I told myself, "this will be a realtor"! Realtors would make good politicians!
The worse part of Indiana is Indianapolis downtown - the crime has increased significantly over the last four years thanks to the Democrat catch and release policies.
The state of Indiana has always been a Republican state.
@@rayd69-g3v the state is well ran by Republicans but Indy is being destroyed by woke incompetent Democrats.
Democrats are destroying every part of Indy. Record homicides, crime, violence, homelessness and potholes everywhere. Will just north republicans have turned caramel, fishers, Westfield and Zionsville into some of the best communities in the country
@@rayd69-g3vindy is all democrat ran. The state pretty much is republican except for our worst ran cities with the most crime ,which are democrat ran from mayor to police chief and DA
@@tonya3308 Democrats are running the city in the ground. Mayor Hogg-head let the BLM RIOTERS tear it up!!! And he disappeared in the chaos. We haven’t had a republican mayor since Ballard. And I’m seeing more and more California license plates every year! The state may be blue. But the cities are sliding and wokeness virus is here.
I live in Indiana. Two major things wrong right now; city wide mismanagement particularly The Gary area, South Bend and the Indy area within the 465 loop (that's almost all of it) as well as state mismanagement of interstate highway maintenance. There may very well have been some political games at the federal level concerning funds... feds do that garbage, There is plenty of dollars being spent on primary education, especially in the three areas named above with dismal results. Liberals are more than free to be liberals. Fort Wayne has a vibrant artistic community and is a very diverse populous. However, the three areas stated above are the most liberal areas of the state, which motivates the rest of Indiana to NOT emulate said areas. Good jobs are a problem in many areas... no doubt. 4 world-class universities in the state of Indiana. And the majority of the graduates have to go elsewhere to get good jobs... disappointing.
I think you missed a big one: Roundabouts
Just curious, a 4.7% growth factor over the past decade does not represent "fleeing" in my mind. Are you sure your media people didn't encourage you to add hyperbolic keywords? You appear to have compensated for the most part, but the weather, as a reason to "flee" has always existed. I guess I always question salesmanship that emphasizes the negatives as the tip of the pitch sword. Just a thought
I think undocs are counted in the census. So that could be part of the 4%
Leaning conservative is a good thing. Hoosiers are very happy leftists flee the state and go to Chicago, New York, and San Fransisco with their failed dem policies.
Buy my $15,600 1/2 acre house in NY I’ll Move there That’s the yearly property taxes the house… about 9
Wow, that’s expensive!
I wish they leave nwi Indiana we are getting a lot of people from Chicago .It's making our cost of living go way up and the traffic is unreal now they had to move kids not enough room in our schools Illinois kids moving in.
Wow, stunning doesn’t even seem to cover it. The amount of intentional details the builder included makes this one of a kind. Great video!
I appreciate the kind words. Thanks for watching!
Wow, stunning doesn’t even seem to cover it. The amount of intentional details the builder included makes this one of a kind. Great video!
I ❤ Indiana!
I happily left Indiana due to the corrupt state government. What kind of government bans a city within the state from getting light rail? Or what kind of government does thing like blocks a city from establishing tenant rights or prevents another location from doing responsible things like banning the plastic grocery bags. The way the state government was so willing to interfere in local government business showed me this place wasn't for me. Despite the fact that the vast majority of the counties cannot carry their own weight, they were united in trying to take down the one area (Indy metro) that was. It is a sad state of affairs when the have-nots (rural counties) wage war against the haves (Indy metro) and have the political power to do it due to Gerrymandering.
Glad you left. Sounds like Califronia, where they sh*t on the streets, is your kind of place.
A liberal wish list. See ya!
AS a native hoosier, born and raised but now living elsewhere, you're obviously better off leaving because you're views dont align with the conservative nature of the state. Just because Indy is the biggest city, doesnt give it rights to bully the other 91 counties.
Walk into any grocery store and look at all the items packaged in plastic and think banning plastic shopping bags would save the world, while for the most part those shopping bags are dual purpose and serve a second life in many cases as, dog poop bags or trash can liners...now without plastic shopping bags to ruin the earth , people have to buy dedicated plastic dog poop bags and dedicated trash can liners.
@@firefalcon100 There is a difference between being conservative and being a Republican. I am a Reagan Republican. The party today is a complete disgrace. It is the party of corruption and radical ideology.
Can we finally begin a conversation on homogeneouphobes?
As in people that are afraid of everything being the same?
Indiana! It's awesome!!! The quiteness is lovely.
It's cold, has state income tax, boring in enterainment and geography, near the rust belt, lacks diversity and economic mobility for most and mostly rural. Stayed there 2 years in my youth, left after having to pay state tax that second year since it had no positives to keep me there.
Misleading title. People aren’t fleeing. Population growth is small but it’s the same it has been for a long time
It's not misleading, as I didn't say Indiana has a declining population. I'm merely explaining why some people may decide to leave the state and live somewhere else.
@ respectfully, you’re making it seem as though there is a mass exodus with your title, which is not the case. The video is about why people may move away.
Correct. Thanks for watching!
are undocumented folks counted in the census stats?
It is a pretty trashy state. Anybody that has been there can see why people don't want to be there.
You clearly haven't been to downtown Carmel.
@geesamanhomes that's the exception though, not the rule
Fishers, Noblesville, Fortville, Zionsville...I could go on but I don't think it matters. You don't like Indiana and that's ok. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
@geesamanhomes Talking about Indiana as a whole, like in the title of your video. Been through dozens of times and have stopped in dozens of towns in that state. Not once have I ever wanted to stay in any of the towns in Indiana a minute longer than I've needed to.
Understood. Like I said, Indiana clearly isn't the right place for you, and that's ok.
I dont think anyone that values diversity, arts, food variants or cosmopolitan culture has Indiana on their target list. She mentions Austin several times and that would be more inline with these things without having the mega metro feel of a city like Chicago, New York etc For those that dont place those as a priority and have more of a family focus , with a very reasonable cost of living Indiana should suit them just fine.
I love these videos. There's one for every state. "The Truth About Why People Are Fleeing [insert state]."
I know many young adults leaving after high school or college directly because of the horrible laws regarding women and LGBTQ+. I don't want my kids teens/young adults living in this state, especially my daughters, due to the risk of dying if they become pregnant since they can not make health care decisions to save their life in case of natural miscarriage or other unforeseen problems.
It is legal in cases involving fatal fetal abnormalities, "to preserve the life and physical health of the mother", and in cases of rape or incest. That's Indiana law...SOOOOO guess your a liar. PS And her body lmao another lie, you always been a liar ?
They can save their lives just fine. This is false. Enjoy your blue state!
I haven't heard anyone say 'under his eye" recently in Indiana , maybe Florida once.
My original reply to this was deleted. Interesting.
We are planning on leaving due to the tax situation. I don’t like being hit with homestead, farm and city taxes while living in the middle of a small town. Indiana has become a nightmare as well for a single parent with 3 special needs kids. Local school did not want to follow IEPs. Conservatives can watch a nurse and direct support professional walk right out of this state since we are replaceable.
I'm sorry to hear this! Hopefully you're able to find a place that's more suitable for you and your family.
👍
Indiana’s population grew by 0.4% in 2023, adding 29,925 residents and increasing to 6.86 million people, according to the Indiana Business Research Center and U.S. Census Bureau. Last year’s population gain is nearly the same as the state’s average annual increase before the pandemic, which was 30,170 residents per year from 2010-2020.
Something is missing there. That's only replacing a little over a third of the population that died off in 2023. The result would be a net decrease in the population.
I moved to Elkhart from Chicago in 2013 and it was the best move I ever made. It took some getting use to but I'm glad I did it
I moved to Elkhart from California in 2014 lol....Still here and loving it!
@Tracy-b9u we gotta connect sometime I like meeting new people
Good, it's a Republican state! We need more.
There are some mean people in the comments. Jeez!
An unfortunate reality of the internet. Thanks for watching, and I hope you have a Happy New Year!
And you also get a postage stamp sized lot overlooking your neighbors 🤢
@@rollingacresfarmstead206 Yeah, for that price in Westfield (as far as production new builds go) that’s about as good as it gets. There are some custom home sites south west of grand park that are 2+ acres.
Tons of potential but squanders quality. Wages are low so people cant afford these new homes. Rents are overpriced and there arent many tenants rights. Whos going to live in all these new buildings; high unemployment and increased homelessness. Crime has increased, with shots heard every weekend. The greenspace and canal are very nice, as are the museums and festivals. But stop glossing over that indy is getting more ratchet than 5yrs ago and gov pays more attention to concentrated cash for some vs general quality of life for all. Your deliverys great though, very fun!
I grew up there (unfortunately). It wasn't the corn that depressed me. It was all the damn soy beans!!! SOY BEEN HELL---that's what I call Indiana.
Yep, corn and soy are plentiful here in good ‘ol’ Indiana.
Bagle what's a bagle? This is indiana bagles and anchovies are NJ items move back
Hard water makes hard people.
And calcium deposits on dishes...
Us Hoosiers, our community of our own! We do not rely on anyone but our neighbors and communities for natural disasters, crop failures, and anything else that's thrown our way! We do not rely on the federal government, or any other entity! We are very strong-willed people! If this isn't for you? Move somewhere else! We don't want the week, timid, socially acceptable type people. If you can't eat a steak? Stay out of our state!!
I'm an Indiana girl, and I love my state!! Trump 2024!!!!!!!❤ 🇺🇸
Boy. You really make me wish to be back in Indiana. And I am vegan
