My Least Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Series of All Time!
¿Qué serie recomendarías a alguien que quiere leer algo motivacional, que te ponga la piel de gallina, que haya entrenamiento para superar momentos dificiles ? I read Storm light, Mistborn and wheel of time at 4 book, great video
Unas cuantas recomendaciones que tengo son Empire of the Vampire (Que es un poco más oscuro pero probablemente mi libro favorito del año), la serie The Bound and the Broken, y The Will of the Many. Déjame saber cuáles terminas leyendo o si tienes alguna pregunta!
Awesome stuff! Any tips for reading at this same volume? Ha
Don't forget Elantris and the Arcanum Unbounded stories. Definitely give Secret History a read right after you finish Mistborn era 1.
Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination
All five* of the secret projects... though they are four in the cosmere, so indeed are four secret projects...?
Could you start with this book, I'm about 30% through the grace of kings but just struggling to get interested, but I keep hearing how amazing this series is and would like to continue but man it's feeling like a slog right now
Started with Way of Kings and am happy. Warbreaker is a slow start, imo anyways, so if that matters to you I wouldn’t start there.
I'm actually thinking of buying this book.. is it worth it?
yes.. ive read the trilogy and its amazing.
@@ansh2771 actually i bought it and started reading it but tbh it's a bit slow in the starting 😭😅
@@Cat-yq3he haha definitely. It took me 2 days with actively trying to read to get past 10-15 chapters in book1 . But after that i cruised through book 2 &3. Finished both in 3 days each.
@@ansh2771 that's greatt! I'll try to finish the first book in a few days as well
@@Cat-yq3he yep! It picks up around pt 3 /ch 15ish. DO NOT GOOGLE ANYTHING because I got spoiled. Book 2 & 3 are also a great step up from boook 1. Have fun!
I’ve been wanting to start the Dandelion Dynasty, but I only have book one and if the end is really open ended I would like to have the second book on hand. Do you think The Grace of Kings could potentially work as a standalone, until I have the other books?
Ragnar Volarus is awesome. Special mentions for Corban ben Thannon, (The Faithful and the Fallen) Binabik (Memory, Sorrow and Thorn) and Loial (The Wheel of Time). Nevermind the part about Corban, I just found part one of the best fantasy characters.
I personally loved the second pov simply because Dior is my favourite character and while it wasn't her it gave her a great chance to be the focus
I love red rising a lot, but I found the series incredibly difficult to follow at points, especially during golden son and dark age, there's just way too many names, way too many weird time jumps, too many technologies and too many locations, I had to hop on the wiki after nearly every chapter.
what series would you recommend for someone generally new to the genre (though i have read exception of harry potter and lotr)?
Mistborn era 1 by Brandon Sanderson 100%!
I need to check out Red Rising and Faithful and the fallen. To me, I don’t think think anything can be as good as Joe Abercrombie
Yeah hard disagree with Green bone saga 😁 But hard agree with Red Rising
how similar is this to empire of the vampire ? it looks cool and you def sold it to me to read but i don’t wanna read something that has minor differences and if EoV is better
EotV is 100% better! I would say don’t waste your time on it and go straight to Empire!
@@FantasyandFitness awesome will do thanks for the recommendations ^_^
Soooo much to read and catch up on.. I have this on my TBR. I'm currently catching up on Suneater... then plan to read Bloodsworn trilogy, Stormlight archive.. Red Rising series as I must next set of musts.. need to squeeze this series in there somewhere too.
No love for Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell
i can’t wait to read empire of the damned the first book was so epic !
Just found your channel through this video. You gained a sub!
Storm light is something special
Why is this so quiet
Elantris gone lmao
Which one should I read first? I’m probably gonna start with mistborn or storm light
Hard agree about Stormlight, I also feel that it almost ruins reading at times for me as well. Love the tattoos.
"The gap between one and two is probably greater than the gap between two and ten" felt this in my soul.
I have been waiting to get into the Stormlight Archive but this review is going to make me pick it up asap. Also, dandelion dynasty for me is #1 all time for me, and I highly recommend picking it up!
do it, you won't regret it
I feel like Im the only one who thinks Name of the Wind was a hard miss🫣 rarely do I DNF a book but I was bored
Oh thank G-d, if you didn’t love my precious Red rising, we couldn’t be friends, but you came through, great list! Though to me it’s undisputed number 1
Red Rising suffers form all the YA pitfalls and the characters felt very cookie cutter to me with barely any interesting development. The rest of the list I think is pretty well explained though.
I would put gardens of the moon higher but I understand the dislike. I finished dead house gates no long ago and it was one of the best books I’ve ever read
You compliment Abercrombie for how he writes morally grey characters that are interesting, and then completely ignore how the jade city trilogy does the same thing? Hilo is one of the most interesting protagonists ever, heavily flawed, sometimes his actions are terrible and you as a reader are just shouting at the page for hime to stop, and thats why he's so awesome. weirdge
Ive hesitated on Stormlight Archive because as much as Mistborn was a fun read, I found it kind of blah in comparison to much of what else is out there. But I can't stop ignoring the fact that SA os #1 on almost everyone's Top 10🤔 Have you read any of Tad Williams' work? Memory Sorrow and Thorn has such beautiful prose and interesting chracters and his more recent series that returns to Osten Ard is said to be even better I have Shadow of the Gods next in queue after I finish Snow Crash and Im psyched to start that trilogy! Hoping Faithful and Fallen wont be a step down if starting with Bloodsworn...
I really understand the criticisms people have of Stormlight and The Cosmere in general. Thing is, despite is faults, it STILL surpasses everything else I've read. But this is one of the great things about reading as a community, we all have our different tastes, preferences, and things we appreciate about books. So we can all come to together and have discussions about the books we've read. It'd be boring if everyone's top 10 was identical.
@@GladiatorDude17 absolutely, a lot of Top 10s are similar in fantasy but I guess the great works run common across the community. One series that is disgustingly underrated in my view is Empire of the Wolf Trilogy. I havent read enough to determine if it deserves a Top 10 standing, but Tyranny of Faith is so far the best book Ive read all year. I'm psyched to read the last book in the trilogy when the paperback gets released next month!
@@davidr9104 Emprie of the Wolf is on my TBR. I'm definitely looking forward to reading it
@@GladiatorDude17 it will not disappoint. Book one is good. Book 2 is insanely friggin awesome. Rare for a sequel to outdo its predecessor.
We need a cosmere tattoo video!
Best sc fi book I've ever read. Phenomenal.
Frugal wizard is not cosmere, also you skipped Edgedancer and Dawnshard. Don't forget about the Elantris stand alone.
Read Lord of The mysteries. Most decorated modern fantasy probably the greatest.
Man it bothers me that the Frugal wizard is the lowest ranked yet imo, the most attractive looking book
wow, really? The greenbone saga? I haven't read it. I will be getting it next month with the Brokenbinding subscription but I'm hyped about it. BTW why didn't you put the Stormlight archive there?
So hyped to read this. Almost done with my current book and then I’m diving into Brandon Sanderson
Awesome video by the way. I added some of those books on TBR. Subscribed 💪🏼
Any tips on reading faster? I’m just getting into reading and almost done with my first book. I’d say i average 26 pages an hour right now. I’d prefer to read most books over audible
Fully agree on green bone saga, so overrated
My top ten are as follows : The Riddle Master of Hed ( Patrica A Mckillip ) The Spell Singer ( Allen Dean Foster ) The Black Company + The Garret Files ( both by Glenn Cook ) The deed of Paksanarion ( Elizabeth Moon ) The first Shannara trilogy ( Terry Brooks ) Dante Valentine series ( Lillith St. Crow ) The Chronicles of Prydain ( Lloyd Alexander ) Lord of the Rings and the Mercy Thompson series ( Patricia Briggs )
Stormlight Archive (The Way of Kings in-particular) really hit me and sucked me back into reading. Kaladin is also my favorite character...Dalinar not far behind. Absolutely loved the series minus Shallan's arch midway through the 2nd book until the end of the 4th. Really liked her before that. Have just added The Faithful and the Fallen to my wish list based on your recommendation.
Just discovered your channel. Really love how you conduct yourself and your opinions 🙂 it also helps that you have similar favourites. And yes! Excited to see a fellow fitness/ fantasy nerd! Subscribed and looking forward to seeing future videos
Cant hear anything
I’ve read all but painted man!!
Nice!! How does your top 5/10 look?
@@FantasyandFitness on my booksta and goodreads lol! Dandelion dynasty is defo on there!!!
You might like The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, it's modern day fantasy, the Elminster books by Ed Greenwood, who invented the Forgotten Realms world that D&D uses. The Belgariad, The Malloreon, The Elenium, and The Tamuli series by David Eddings. The Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch
I understand why you might not like Gardens of the moon but please continue with the series. For me this is the greatest fantasy series ever written even with all its flaws. The first book is widely considered the weakest one but from there it gets only better and book 3 is a favorite for many people (my favorite is book 5).
I’m currently reading malazan on memories of ice atm. Gardens of the moon the first half was a struggle I stopped reading it and picked it back up like 5 different times but once I got around 60 percent in I enjoyed it a lot. Deadhouse gates was one of the best fantasy books I’ve ever read and I’m loving memories of ice so far just started book 2
