Mock BBC1 SCHOOLS - MERRY GO ROUND - JUSTINE
Anybody know what this music is at the beginning it's pretty cool. Sounds like a cross between Rush and Yes
I suspect this track being played by the beeb in schools was responsible for turning many kids onto prog and psych rock. I remember hearing this waiting for the programme to start at school and honestly the music was better than the following programme. We all grew up to be ravers in the 90s and chilled down to anything proggy or psych😁
So true
Very nice too
Very nice too.
Very nice too.
Very nice too.
I remember the edits to this, but don't think it was until about 1982 that I heard the full version on BBC Schools of Bart - and sometimes it was used for intervals on the weekend on BBC1
Yes, i also recall this. Even heard the 2 and 3 minute edits played in the same interval occasionally. Yes the testcard version on 'Pretty Girls' was editied down to 3:45
By which time I was twelve and at senior school! Takes me right back to childhood memories.
Golden Dream Orchestra, I think, off their Disco Medleys album.
The GOAT of brekkie radio
Thanks for posting this classic piece of music 😊
So what's going on with the video here? It looks like a recreation, although the audio is clearly original.
Correct 😊
Except that we didn't have stereo sound on TV back in 1979. The announcement is original.
Nothing wrong with re-creations. In those days vision would have been 4:3 and the sound in mono, not stereo. This is the full version as tx on the TTT Frog Went a'Courtin. The version used on schools was edited to, I recall, about 1'30 or thereabouts and had a natural ending as thus.
Although normally used on schools intervals, the Hair Medley did get a play early one Saturday morning as well once, over a menu caption of the day's programmes.
Not heard this before
THE ANTHEM OF CEEFAX ORACLE AND TELETEXT *ALL ABOARD!*
BART, actually!! That and this were both good!!😊
Sorry. You can't beat DART by Ruby
Or even BART! 😂
Thank you of course so too!
Thank you for this of course!
Great jingle
Brilliant 👌
This Maple Leaf Rag arrangement is in F major. The original version is in Ab major and played much faster. Ask the Family had an another version in G major. I well remember all of them!
Nice little "what if" moment there.
Classic childhood memories & skiving of school.
Announcer, the restrained Bruce Hammal, in later years to be much louder on Sky Sports.
Track 16 Bart by Ruby from BBC2’s Test Card tape taken from Dixieland Parade 1 from 1974 before Track 17 Fielde Runde.
Pages from Ceefax
What year was this? And who composed? Great music
Hi Justine was by Bruno Nicoli www.shazam.com/gb/track/524934878/justine This track was used from autumn 1977 until around 1982 for BBC1 Schools intervals
@@plane340 fantastic thank you so much 👍
Thank you for this. The then BBC1 clock, now of course of old too I know. Well done!
and followed on by the dots of old too!
Very nice too!
Bart in full is and always was my favourite test card and schools tune. Got the name of the group who played it. Called Ruby.
Ruby is the name of the group
Don't think we ever got the complete version of this over the dots - it must have been edited, like the Justine theme
Your absolutely right. I don’t recall ever hearing the full version but I thought I would just put it on there. Yet there were 3 versions of Bart.
2:17 The classical theme for On the Rocks is an excerpt from Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Greensleeves. Oh, and Bart is totally kick-ass!
Thank you for this of course. If this was 1983, I am guessing this must have been before Schools ended on BBC1, before becoming Daytime on Two on BBC2 later that year on September 19th as far as I know. Well done anyway too!!
Manning and Kemp are now the Radio Djs
Maple Leaf Rag played by the US Army Chamber Orchestra conducted by Captain G Barry Epperley
When the tv was TV!
BART played by a group called RUBY
Tom Fogerty is the musician
@@benovision6325 The piece was composed by Randy Oda though. It is performed by Ruby which included Tom Fogerty.
@@benovision6325 I must correct benovision….. it’s played by the Great Tom Fogerty
(and Randy Oda)
Love these videos Thanks!.
Thank you Much appreciated Enjoy
@@plane340 Hi,..I also love your videos, and I wanted to ask, - Please could you tell me who the artist is to the Gershwin Melody on the Bbc mock- let's go.I have been trying to find out for so long. (I had to leave this comment here as the comments for that video are turned off) Thanks
@@ROBDV-7-9-6-5 Hi mate. apparently is by Radio Orchestra Baden-Baden. Thanks for your comments...
@@plane340 Hi,..Thanks for your reply mate, and so fast,.I really appreciate that. .. And yes ,I have read it is by them many times before ,only there is no trace of it,and it does not sound like them to me.I thought maybe you had the original lp ,-as you uploaded such a clean complete copy of the melody/suite.I'm so greatful to you for doing that,as all the other uploads are poor quality and incomplete. ..The info about the baden baden radio orch being the artist all began a long time ago when one person wrote that on a site saying they thought it may be them, without any proof, and then many other people read it and stated it everywhere as fact.. I look forward to more of your great uploads in the future if you are able to do any.. Thanks again Take care mate
@@ROBDV-7-9-6-5 Hi. Yes I'm not 100% sure but it's just what I've been told a few times. I joined the 'Test Card Circle" many years ago as I have a very keen interest in the BBC Schools Dot's era music with Bart being my No1 tune.... They have a wealth of knowledge about all the music played. Anyway, thanks for your kind comments. Cheers Paul
How many dots were round the logo?
20 Disappearing every 3 seconds hence 1 minute countdown
Classic music from the old school day’s !!
It's amazing how evocative music can be, and how it takes you back 40 odd years. A time of telly's on trolley's with the VCR locked away, 30 air guitar solos, an uncomfortable plastic mat that left indentations in your legs and most likely gave you piles as you sat for the 20 odd minutes. Heartbreakingly good.
One of my early memories around 1981, when I was 7 years old. I heard this on the TV during the summer holidays and absolutely loved it. Immediately after, I went to the park with my mum, dad and older brother, to play football on a bright and hot summers day. I remember taking a break and drinking cool orange squash. This music just took me back to that very day. Thank you so much!
Great memories of a very different time. Thank you.
BART played by a group called RUBY
I well remember this tune when growing up (aged seven at the time of this video). In 1981 I was eleven, moving from junior to senior school, so four years older than you. I also remember the dots - a staple part of my childhood!
And why not indeed so too of course?! It is nice to have such memories really too, and you are so right there then too I am sure! Well done though too.
Tbhe dots make me think of a Lincoln biscuit.
THE anthem of being a kid in the 70s/80s
Great video I love it thank you
I got the vinyl album of this a few years ago. It also features the ABBA and Boney M medleys.
Wow, memories
The original dots.
One of my personal favourites, when, watching these programmes, as a child. Always wanted to buy this track.
The best! At least you can download and/or buy it now
Where can you buy it?
www.amazon.co.uk/Bart/dp/B017NZB9ZE/ref=nodl_
He fucked that announcement up lol
Theres alother one he does that on same time aswell think its watch programme 😂
Don't mind when they used the Bee Gees instead of the usual instrumentals!
The number 1 record that got away. Why on earth wasn't this ever released as a single?
