Dog walk in the Paddocks
Chloe and Trixie love the river they went straight there, Bailey a little more sedately around the paddock, I think this was a challenge for him. Deborah came too, she likes a walk in the paddock. The Freezer lambs said hello they are growing well. Grant was doing a good job tacking the weeds round the beds.

Too many seedlings where will I plant them all

Busy day in the garden. Lots of weeding snail irradiation. Seedlings are rescued before they completely die. Strawberries moved out of the reach of the dogs. Planted out heritage pumpkin, butternut squash, honeydew melon. More potatoes to find a home and where will I put the kumera

Enjoy a walk in my town. The main street of Otorohanga, well there's only one actually that has shops. The name Otorohanga means "A little food for a long journey" we have lived here since 1993 we are almost locals
I should be resting but I couldn't resist going into the garden

I decided to listen to my body this week and rest, the last two months have been pretty hectic at work and there is still another month of full on work schedule. However, I couldn't resist doing a few jobs in the garden.

😂 They are so adorable 😊
👍👍👍
N. or S. Island ??
Koji dio Novog Zelanda je ovo ???
I have a few hydrangeas in pots I moved and yes I know the feeling where to put all the tomatoes 😂😂. I was giving to everyone in spring 🤦♀️ then I was putting them in every corner possible. Hope everything works and the slugs p off. Have a fab week ahead, Ali 🥶🇨🇦
What do they make with their fleece ?
I don’t think you’re behind I think Mother Nature is going through menopause 😂. We have a few cold foggy mornings but the sun pushes through by noon. All looking really good even with a slug or two 🤦♀️. Have a fab day Julie, Ali 🥶🌞🇨🇦
Looks a lovely drive Julie I have heard it’s very much like BC where I live ❤. Have an amazing week, Ali 🥶🌞🇨🇦
So beautiful there Thanks for sharing 😊❤
We will get a little brown but it's generally February time, we have had a lot of rain recently
It is lovely to see the countryside so green. I live in country Australia, and all the countryside is golden grass. we are having a heatwave at present, so no green. Not for some time to come, I should imagine.
❤❤ sunshine ☀️ looks amazing Julie have a wonderful weekend, Ali 🥶🥶🇨🇦
You too Ali, it is always a joy to ride into the sunset.
Beautiful country ride, Thank you! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
☀👍👍👍
Not sure what those fireworks were for, but we (in Australia) have our Guy Fawks fireworks in the Winter now, to avoid the fire danger of the Summer. That was a lovely show. only 8 minutes, but it seemed much longer, it was so pleasant.
It's Guy Fawkes what a good idea to do it in winter, in England it's winter you don't have to wait as long for the night to set in.
Although they don’t look happy at first I bet once it gets hotter they will be thrilled. Have a good weekend, Ali 🥶🇨🇦
we have some that scream the whole way through, which is rather deafening and looks like were murdering them. We had a few screamers this year i debated whether to post that or not.
Wow, good to see! My first time seeing it Thanks for sharing ❤
My pleasure 😊
Hi you mentioned "Round the Bridges " lm in Hamilton City, NZ but not energetic enough to run that event. Ive got only a tiny plot but its still good to compare notes with someone growing in a similar climate.
I don't run round the bridges just walk
3:45 if you snap, the spine on some of the outer leaves of your cauliflower it creates a living umbrella ☂️
I've seen that and tried it but I was too nervous to leave them wrapped up for too long. the brassicas overall have been a bit of a fail this season.
😂 strawberry 🍓 stealing dogs. There are always too many seedlings but we find a way 👍👍. It’s gone really cold 🥶 here at 2c in the morning and rain and winds again today. I bought a shade cover for my vegepod it’s similar to the white cover but it’s green. Great update all looking good and sunny 🌞, Ali 🌦️🥶🇨🇦
I feel so behind this year-it's December already. Work has been hectic, and our summer has not settled yet. I decided not to plant too many tomatoes this season. I still have half a freezer full from two harvests back. We have to eat those, I told myself. But now I am feeling a little withdrawal about not having the plants in the garden, lol.
Nasturtium 10:25
Ah thank you yes it's a self serd
Looking lovely and lush in your nice warm weather. Ahhh strawberry 🍓 and raspberries ❤. Strawberries have shallow roots so I’m assuming they are ok in the small pots for now..😮 it’s insane slugs eat anything and everything 🤬. The cauliflower could just be a pink variety as they do come in other colours ranging from white to deep purple 👍. Hope you can get the critters under control. Have a great week ahead, Ali ☔️🌧️🇨🇦
Looking forward to the blackberries, impatiently waiting for them to ripen. The strawberries are doing well, I must put some in the freezer to stop me from eating them all so I can make some jam later
That potting mix must be a bit of a lucky dip. We got the same one and it was great.
I think so, I have had better
Coucou Merci beaucoup pour ce partage 😊 A bientôt et courage avec vous
merci
@juliemansell3259 de rien
But win win those flowers in the baths look beautiful ❤. I put chilli flakes mixed with cinnamon which seems to have kept the slugs off. Chin up you’ll get there we have faith 👍, yes sunflowers are not good with some plants it’s a chemical thing. Have an awesome day and keep smiling, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦
I have beautiful sunflowers last year. but this year they are not doing so well. i wonder if its too last to start some more seeds
What are the milk bottles for ?
They create a little greenhouse effect over a new plant, and keep the slugs off a little though that's not perfect, they climb up and go in the top. But at least it makes it harder.
@@juliemansell3259 I’ve been watching your RUclips videos for the past week, and they’re really great! You’re doing a fantastic job as a content creator. How long have you been on RUclips, and what challenges have you faced with your channel?
Sorry about the disasters, they always tend to find us☘️
they sure do, my cauliflower has succumbed to the things that nibble i think I will pull them out and reuse the space. so sad when you nurture a seedling and you don't get a harvest.
I love this! I can't wait to see them offered in the US.
I think they are. they might have a different name over there. I don't think New Zealand made these up
Ah calendula and alyssum mine took over a bed so I chopped it all down and like a bad penny it all came back with a vengeance. Good thing it’s at least great for the bees. The vegepod as a cold frame is a fab idea, Nigel Muddybootz and Steve Digwell put valentine around the legs a few inches up to deter the slugs I’m going to give that a try, although so far the only issue I had was putting eggs directly in the pod (didn’t check seedling leaves well enough). Yes I say every year I’m going to grow less as I sort through my zillion seeds and wonder if I need more 😂😂. Have a marvellous week and try to take a break too it’s only the beginning, Ali 🥶🌞☔️🇨🇦
Its a month since your comment and I must say I am underwhelmed about the growing of the veggies in the veggie pod, they seem to be a little stunted, maybe I should give them some fertiliser or some blood and bone. i too pulled out all the flowers it is coming back everywhere when its small it easy to pull though.
Looks great!
Thanks!
Pouring rain here but to be expected it’s October in Canada 😂😂. Have a fab weekend I hope it’s not all rain ☔️, Ali ☔️🥶🇨🇦
Our weather has been a mixed bag this season, it feels like everything is a month behind.
Hi, I’m new to your channel! Your plants look great!
thanks for joining, enjoy the videos, do you grow yourself
@ yes! I have a RUclips channel too.
Awesome strawberries 🍓 coming, I have flowers on mine 😮 it’s almost Oct. Isn’t it a snapdragon? I love flowers and yes it brings in pollinators and hunters for other bugs 🐛. So much on the go Julie 😂 as always envious of your season while ours winds down. 😂😂 you terrible human you. Monster cats 🐈⬛. Have a super week Julie 😂 and I’m sure you’ll sort it, Ali 🌞☔️🌞
Are there a lot of homes in your immediate neighborhood? It looks a fab place to live, here there is very little space left unless you move to,the “interior” but we abandoned those plans with all the fires that they get in recent years. Thank you for taking us along hope you have a wonderful week ahead, Ali 🌞☔️🇨🇦
Maybe six, but the nearest neighbour is 300 yards away
@@juliemansell3259 awesome 😎
Awesome and great to save your own seed potatoes as you know they did well in your garden before so should again. Happy sowing Julie, Ali 🌞☔️🇨🇦
i has the drain hole on the wrong side
ok
Hi Julie, great video, I can't believe your carrots look so lush, have made two sowings here down south and a few stragglers is all we got, did you cover them? Big licks to your dog - from Colin the dog 🐶
Thanks, the dogs send a lick back. they, the carrots, are not looking as lush just now, I think in the veggie pod they are getting a little overheated when the sun is out at full strength. I will wait and see how it fares over the winter growing period.
Beautiful garden
Thank you so much 🙂
Merci pour le partage 😊 À bientôt
thanks
What do you mean chitted them?
What I did this year with all my squash etc (big seed) was chitted them so I wasn’t staring at soil 😂. I finally got around to putting strawberry runners into little pots. All looking good Julie. Here as we are heading into fall I’m doing more jobs than growing. Thanks for the update have a fab weekend, Ali 🌞🌦️🇨🇦
I guess you are in winter now, I am heading off to Africa for six weeks at ester so i will need to harvest everything by then. It will be a bit wild when I get back.
🎉 here comes summer Julie 😅 oh wait nope here comes fall weather here. It’s getting there and I can’t wait to see the next steps. I forget do you have chickens Julie or just the lovely alpacas 🦙? Have a simply amazing week ahead, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦
You wouldn't believe were in spring the weather is not good at the moment. Yes We have chickens, lots of eggs, and the alpacas. and the dogs and the cats lol
@@juliemansell3259 and an arc 🤦♀️, we finally got our first 10c morning ahhhhhhh
Superbe vidéo 😊 À bientôt

Wow gorgeous 🥰🥰
Thank you, and as I watched the video I realized I had done one of the blocks wrong, my question is do I remake it or will it even matter as it's spread throughout the quilt and no body except me will know the block is wrong
@@juliemansell3259 it could be a secret only you know and see if anyone is really paying attention, like a hidden garden door in the old brick wall 🤭
It’s never ending work these days isn’t it. We are coming into our cold months now and we finally got a wee bit of rain. Oh I keep forgetting to pot up my baby strawberry 🍓 runners. Oh sorry the cats are being buggers we have a neighborhood cat that occasionally comes nd just poops on the grass 😱. Doing a fab job Julie have a great weekend, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦
You have a great weekend too Ali, I am surprised how far behind I am this year from other years, but being out of the house for 60 hours a week is not helping. Hopefully the plants will do their thing as the days get warmer and catch up. The seasoned gardeners here typically don't plant out till the end of October. And in my first season all my tomatoes did get frosted and I had to start again
Wow you have been busy 🤞 let’s hope they all do really well, Ali 🌞🌧️🇨🇦
thanks, I am a little late this year, work has been super busy and it has been raining so much
You can rub Vaseline around the legs to keep future ones off. My vegepod seems to have had a cabbage white at some point 🤬. Looks like fall is on its way here so it’s the switch up time 👍 sun for you rain for us. Have a super week, Ali 🌧️🌞🇨🇦 Ps Vaseline works as long as there isn’t a slug hiding in the soils already
I might try that
👍👍👍
thank you for the thumbs up
