    • @CraftyIntentions

      Hi there! I have two octopus patterns, but I assume you're speaking about the Realistic Octopus? I searched in the pattern, but I only found it written as "2 HDC Dec in 3 SC" So this means that it's the same technique as what's shown in this video, but instead of using regular decreases, you will use HDC Decreases (Which should be defined in your pattern's glossary), Does that make sense? Additionally, I would strongly encourage you to come join my FB group here: facebook.com/groups/CraftyIntentionsCommunity It is the perfect place to ask questions as you work on my patterns. Hi! I don't have a Facebook so I can't join the group. I bought your Hanging Flying Pig Planters pattern and in row 34 and 42 you said "SC & SC/HDC Dec & HDC" so... Should I make this 3 stitches on the same stitch together?

    • @CraftyIntentions
      @CraftyIntentions 14 дней назад

      Hi there! You should work the SC in the next available stitch. Because of the "&" symbol, the SC AND the SC/HDC Dec will share a stitch. So you should start the SC/HDC Decrease into the same stitch as where you worked the SC. Then you will complete the SC/HDC Decrease in the next available stitch. Because of the next "&" symbol, the SC/HDC Decrease AND the HDC will share a stitch. So you should work the "HDC" into the same stitch as where you completed the SC/HDC Decrease. I have a video on the "&" symbol here: ruclips.net/video/jGA2nAzL2cU/видео.html I hope that helps!

  • @JDiamondW1
    @JDiamondW1 24 дня назад

    I'm not sure if you still read these but hoping you do. When I do Amigurumi I put a stitch marker in the last stitch of the round. With the case of the slip stitch chain 1, would the slip stitch be the last stitch of the round? I'm pretty sure the last stitch of the round is the one before the slip stitch, I just want to be sure.

    • @CraftyIntentions
      @CraftyIntentions 24 дня назад

      Hi there! I do! The last stitch of the row is always the last stitch of the row - the Sl St, Ch 1 is a join method, and is NOT counted in the stitch count, and should not be marked with your stitch marker or crocheted into. The Sl St will always be worked into the beginning (first) stitch of the row, and you will always Ch 1, and work the first stitch of the next row into the same stitch you slip stitched into. Those are the key points! Please feel free to mark whatever stitch helps you to keep track of that! Eventually it will become very easy to see/spot/visualize! I hope that helps!

    • @JDiamondW1
      @JDiamondW1 23 дня назад

      @@CraftyIntentions WOW. I've been making Amigurumi for about a year and I've never been able to tell by looking where the row starts and ends, I've always had to use a stitch marker. With the SL, Chain 1 I can see the end clearly. I'm going to keep using the stitch marker for now just so I won't mess it all up but it's a game changer.

    • @CraftyIntentions
      @CraftyIntentions 26 дней назад

      Yes - Your work may naturally form inside out - you can just force it to be right-side out, and continue like that from early on. The key is to keep the "noodle" in the "bowl". Keep that starting yarn tail for your magic circle inside your work aka inside the bowl. I hope that helps!

You can share photos of your works in progress, finished objects, and ask any questions you have along the way. I hope you can join us! There are already existing threads pinned at the top of the group to help people with the Impkins! For Row 4 you will first SC, Inc, SC 3 - This uses 5 stitches, and creates 6 stitches. You should have 13 stitches remaining to crochet into. Then, starting by working into the indicated stitch on Leg #1 and the next available stitch on the body, and continuing into the next available stitches on both, you will SC 3. This uses 3 stitches and creates 3 stitches. You should have 10 stitches remaining to work into on the body and you've created a total of 9 stitches. Your leg had 8 stitches available - you've used 3 stitches on the leg. 5 stitches remaining on the leg for the next row. Then you will SC 2 in the body only. This uses 2 stitches and creates 2 stitches. You should have 8 stitches remaining to work into on the body and you've created a total of 11 stitches. Then, starting by working into the indicated stitch on Leg #2 and the next available stitch on the body, and continuing into the next available stitches on both, you will SC 3. This uses 2 stitches and creates 3 stitches. You should have 5 stitches remaining to work into on the body and you've created a total of 14 stitches. Your leg had 8 stitches available, you've used 3 stitches on the leg. 5 stitches remain available on the leg for the next row. Then you will work into the body only. SC 3, Inc, SC This uses 5 stitches and creates 6 stitches. You should have 0 remaining stitches available to work into on the body and you've created a total of 20 stitches. Does that make sense?

      It is a regular decrease whose position is dictated by the < or > symbols. So if it's a <Dec> You will: Insert your hook into the same stitch as the last stitch you worked into, YO, Pull up, Insert your hook into the next available stitch, YO, Pull up, YO, Pull through all loops Start the next stitch into the same stitch that you completed the Decrease into. If it's a <Dec You will: Insert your hook into the same stitch as the last stitch you worked into, YO, Pull up, Insert your hook into the next available stitch, YO, Pull up, YO, Pull through all loops, Start the next stitch into the next available stitch. If it's a Dec> You will: Insert your hook into the next available stitch, YO, Pull up, Insert your hook into the next available stitch, YO, Pull up, YO, Pull through all loops, Start the next stitch into the same stitch that you completed the decrease into. Second, the HDC & HDC/SC Decrease is two separate stitches, and they are both defined in your glossary. When you work a "HDC & HDC/SC Decrease" you will first work a HDC in the next available stitch. Then, because of the "&" (which is defined in your pattern's glossary), you will start the HDC/SC Decrease in the same stitch that you worked the HDC into. The "HDC/SC Decrease" should also be defined in your pattern's glossary. It is a decrease stitch that, as normal, will span two stitches. But often when I utilize them in patterns, they span the space from a lower row across a step up to a higher row. I hope that helps!

So The body shaping is built into the wyvern, but the tail will be straight and pliable. The Wings will be wing shaped, but they won't hold themselves up. 5:19 - this is what happened with my first dragon's arms; I decided I didn't care that it had little yarn tails sticking out of its hands, because I could glue a card to those tails and then it would be "holding" the card (and then I paid much more attention to how the pieces wanted to curve so that they would all be right side out).

    Skip the gap! I've trying to make the dragon and I've been working on the tail all morning, unable to figure out how to use the slip stitch without adding stitched. Skip the gap and go back into the same stitch. Thank you so much! I want to make everything in the Creatures book. You just saved me many hours of frustration.

    I wish there was a way you could do this same tutorial but with a stitch marker for the visually impaired friends. Lol Great video though that is clear and concise!

    To people who are still having trouble with this. Put a stitch marker in the slip stitch, chain stitch but don't crochet into it, and use the same stitch as the slip stitch. The video has a simple explanation. My brain just didn't want to work. I figured this might help a beginner like myself.

    There is also giant snail top #52- decrease around the next 2 Slip St. From #51, and the stitches they were slip stitched into. * Am I making 1 decrease with both of those holes/previous stitches that the next 2 sl st are in?

    • @CraftyIntentions
      @CraftyIntentions 5 месяцев назад

      So yes, When you end Row 51, you work 4 total slip stitches. Towards the end of Row 52, you Slip stitch into the marked stitch from Row 51, which is the first of those 4 slip stitches from Row 51. Then you will decrease - as described in this video - into the stitches that the next 2 slip stitches from Row 51 were worked into, encasing those stitches.
