What gauge would you recommend for open d?? I know I need heavier gauge but I have a Epiphone Les Paul special I, 24.75 (shorter scale) than my Ibanez. And I have a singular wraparound bridge, idk how to keep it raised.

What about playing slide on flatwounds? Any thoughts?

What I like about Ceramic is that if I decide I want a Metal Sound it's very versatile, love my Joe Perry Slide.

Joe Perry is a better slide player than many “slide players”. Just like Steven Tyler is a better harp player than many harp players. Their more mainstream accomplishments overshadow their other talents.

Tip!!! Try to (slightly) loosen your truss rod first before putting anything under the nut. Also raise the bridge. 90% of the time loosening the truss rod will give you enough gap at frets 1-7 for slide and raising the bridge will gap 7-remaining frets for slide. If you do this first and still don’t have enough, then raise the nut.,

Been playing with minor open tunings for a few months now...... They are just fun. My daughter calls it the haunted house sound. LOL

Can you give us some basic measurements? How high off the 1st & 12th fret do you consider a starting point?

Dude, I started open g when I started playing and building cbg's. I bought my first reso, a rk dirty 30s, that I leaned against my recliner🤢 and replaced it with the Gretch reso, had been playing in open d on it, and set it down bc I wasn't having as much fun as g on my cbgs. Tuned my reso to g and fell in love again lol your tips were awesome man! I really like the sunny stuff you threw in, Great content!

When teaching...please explain what strings you're playing on what number frets and where you are sliding too as its not clear on the video...and I don't read music so I don't understand the scales etc...so instead of saying im sliding up to the f sharp...please explain im playing strings 1 and 2 and sliding from the 3rd fret to the 5th fret etc...this way its clear and easier to learn from. Many thanks in advance and keep up the good work 👍

Hi Slide guy! Thanks for the credit card tip. I was left with one question though: Once you remove the nut, do you just place the credit card plastic un the slot and place the nut on top of it? do you recommend using glue in this process? Do you glue the plastic to the guitar and then glue the nut to the plastic? Thanks for your help!!
