Larcs Workshop
Великобритания
Добавлен 6 авг 2019
Hi guys, I'm just a good old Somerset boy who's been messing around with cars and engines since I was 16 years old.
I wish that I had started this channel years ago when I had more time, patience and content!
So I'm recording the work that I'm doing on mine and my families vehicles, and other interesting stuff (I hope) for you to enjoy, learn from, or just have a laugh at!
Check us out on Instagram at larcs_workshop for sneak peaks of what's coming up.
I have to warn you that I have no formal automotive training, and have just learned by breaking stuff. If you can learn anything from my mistakes then great, but you do so at your own risk!
I hope you enjoy my channel and any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.
CHEERS THEN.

Hi...buddy...my fans have stopped working no speed works....I can't seem to find a fuse for it either can u tell me what fuse to look for ?...also could it be resister?
@@mindasinghjandu Sorry not sure what fuse it is, a Google search should tell you. Normally the fan will just work on full speed if the resistor has gone. The fan could also be seized?
Omg im so jealous how your old sensor just almost plopped itself out. Mines wedged in......i removed bolt and its just logded in i cant get it out. Ive even sheared the bolt bracket off so im now in a position of the sensor being in without the bolt 😢 I was patient not heavy handed but when your under the car for 45mins and its not budging something had to give i suppose. Im now tempted to remove the driveshaft to give myself more access to get a pair of grips in there to prize sensor out.😮

I have the same issue and will be attacking it using this video as reference at the weekend! Hopefully it’s the same cause!
@@DeadSetOnLiving_ Good luck sorting it out 🤞.
@@LarcsWorkshopthanks! I got the interior stripped, but I’ve got a think spongey rubber topped mat that sits in the footwell and covers the whole front of the car. It’s absolutely sodden on the drivers side, and ideally I’d need to get this out to properly locate where the leak is coming from. It seems like a real job to get it out, it seems to surround the steering column etc. and I just don’t have the knowledge to do that myself 😬😬
@DeadSetOnLiving_ My mat was already damaged, so I would suggest cutting it into large sections to take it out to dry it. Good luck sorting it out 🤞.
I have to ask when you said you are using a clamp what type are you using as I need to fix mine
@@joesmith-jl1vp On the temporary repair I used a fuel hose spring clip on the lower plastic pipe and worm type hose clamps on the upper rubber ones. Sorry, I can't remember what size they were.
Great Video. IS it necessary to take the crank plate off? The centre of the plate should just clip out with a scribe, no?
@@steveborg7467 Yes, apparently it can be removed without taking the whole plate off👍.
Can you not cut and extend the cable under the seat so you don't have to keep undoing it?

Hi, Great video and really helpful. My electric window packed up and the cables all birdnested whilst we were away at the outer Hebrides. I ordered the whole replacement panel like you did in the second half of the video and fitted it back in. Two weeks in it's all nested again. When I took the panel back off the second time I found the black plastic piece for the lock lying in the bottom of the door panel but had no clue where it was from until you showed it in your video "THANKYOU" I can only assume after watching your video that this plastic piece had broken at some point and was indeed the cause of both snagging and birdnesting issues. I will now order another replacement panel and re-fit, and hopefully, I will have better luck this time. Thanks again, I've subscribed and I will be checking out your other videos. @himherandthedogs
whta is the part number pls?

@@mattroberts6484 Hi Matt, it's not to bad of a job. The top plastic nut is a bit awkward on a diesel because of the fuel filter but it might be different on a petrol. Remember to get a new seal for the pump when you replace the bottle. 👍

Many thanks for posting... served as a great guide for doing my TDI Fabia. The hacksaw didn't quite cut it for me, so I used a 14mm spade bit to drill out a channel in the rubber, then I heated up a metal rod and pushed this through the plastic outer of the bushing. I was then able lever them a bit to loosen them, and then tap them out easily with a hammer. I used tippex to mark the orientation of the old ones, and then copied these marks across to the new ones to ensure accurate alignment. My new bushings were oversized by about 1mm (have read of others having the same issue) and there's no way they were going in. So the turned them down on my lathe (other people have attacked them with a flap disc... sounds brutal to me!). Made up my own puller from 10mm threaded rod, washers and a bit of box section. I found the best way to ease them in (this the help of some washing up liquid) was to tighten up as far as poss, then tap around the perimeter of the bush (use a bit of wood to protect it from hammer blows) to get it to jerk in some more, retighten and repeat. Also had to grind off one brake pipe bracket and reweld afterwards. Overall, took just over a day to do, but having now now it once, could probably sort it in half that time! Best of luck people!
