I visited the Gold Coast a while back at Christmas and one thing I noticed was that there weren't that many people in the water, or even on the beach at Surfers Paradise. Then on our last couple of days we were travelling past Tullebugera Creek, and it was packed. There were people in kayaks, on paddle boards, fishing boats, swimming, plenty of younger people jumping off the bridge, or just lying on the beach. I think it's the best beach around Surfers. As a matter of fact I bought tickets in a prize home lottery recently, the prize was a whole apartment complex, four apartments, just across the road from the creek. I still can't believe I didn't win. Guess I'm just a born loser. 😄😄

Bails - the Guiness sold here is only 4.2% alcohol by volume, which is the only reason for it being crap as a stand alone drink. If you wish to enhance the flavor of imported Guiness, then I would suggest, you give your next Guiness a shot of taste with some Irish whiskey to produce a 'boilermaker'. If you don't wish to go to a 'boilermaker', then there are some good Aussie Stouts on the market - such as Coppers Stout that are way better than the Guiness sold here. And avoid the Guiness that is made here under license by Carlton Brewery - it is crap!

You see a lot of people out on the roads as they are driving to all meet up for lunch at someone's relos. Then it's off to another relos say the partners relos. Some people try and get two trips in for the day or possibly it's a few or couple hr drive to get to the one relo for the day.

You’ll never get over how beautiful the Gold Coast is. I’ve lived in Australia 🇦🇺 for 42 years and it still blows my mind how beautiful it is and how lucky I am to live right on the beach. ALWAYS swim between the flags and don’t go in the ocean as in deep if it’s outside of the lifeguards hours. Honestly guys so many people drown in our ocean. The ocean isn’t the best atm a lot of rips but you need to look out for the flash rips as well. Like I said I live basically on the beach in surfers and I hear the lifeguards all the time saying how bad it is and I can see the rips so be careful. If you do like to go out a bit further look at getting a bodyboard that way if you get caught in a rip you have a flotation device.

Zinc cream is best for your nose. Australian sun isn’t a warm glow like northern hemisphere. It’s brutal. especially in summer.

Sun protection includes wide brim hate, long sleeves to start with. Chemists are a great place to ask about the sunscreen variants you can buy. Oh and by the way, late afternoon swims are best done at patrolled beaches so swim between the flags. PS shark attacks are often around early morning and late afternoon. Rare but best to be aware. Nothing beats beach fishing. Finding fresh bait, pippys and sand worms (if available) shows food signs for fish and are free with catch limits. Standing on the foreshore checking out gutter formations, remember shallow into deep is where the fish are. Alvey reels are made in Queensland and are perfect in sandy conditions. You can drop a rod with an Alvey sidecast reel in sand, in salt water and it won't stuff up like spinning reels as they are simple to maintain. Do some homework, plenty of great youtubers showing the way. I have both rigs, Alvey and spinning reel setups. Spinning for fast retrieval and Alvey for pure simple fun. Practise makes perfect.

Tullebugera Creek is crazy clean and the fishing is great. It gets very busy over the Christmas holidays. It's protected water, so great for young kids to have a splash about.

Don't use sunscreen. It causes cancer. The sun is healthy. Just limit exposure to no more than 15 minutes at a time. You'll start to build up a resistance.

If you have a six month lease it should be ok normally everyones lease starts at six months also because you just moved in end of lease will not be until May or June 2025 which is good as it is the slower holiday season on the GC so you should get at least another six months until summer 2025 also if you get time check out the RTA Queensland it gives you an insight into your rental rights while renting
