    I use this mixer with my four piece band and it’s always clipping no matter how low we turn everything down. We also run backing tracks through it.

      I personally have a mackie 12 channel and it puts out more sound than this 16 channel board. Why is that?

    • @bax2004
      @bax2004 10 дней назад

      That is strange. I have observed that the level meters on this mixer are a bit more sensitive compared to other mixers (this one considers clipping to be 11 dB when others, like a Mackie mixer peak out at around 18-20 dB). This could cause the sound to always appear to be clipping. There could be other problems like how it might be sending a signal too hot for your PA system (the issue I had with recording the demo for this video), or some manufacturing defect.

    • @larryclark5483
      @larryclark5483 10 дней назад

      @@bax2004 they are very sensitive because whenever I put my kick drum mic through it it peaks. The slider on the bottom will be off completely with the gain not even turned up at all or just enough to barely hear the kick

    Can this mixer be used with a DAW? Controlling the DAW faders etc?

    • @bax2004
      @bax2004 13 дней назад

      Unfortunately it cannot. The built in USB/bluetooth connection is only able to handle audio recording and playback, not anything that would allow for DAW control (like MIDI CC).

    Can this be used to mix through Pro Tools?

    • @bax2004
      @bax2004 15 дней назад

      It can’t mix through Pro Tools or any daw as it is just an analog mixer with a barebones audio interface/bluetooth receiver added to it. The controls aren’t linked to the audio interface, and as such do not output anything that would allow for that (such as MIDI CC). Midi control surfaces (like the Novation Launch Control or Akai MIDImix) might be more close to what you are looking for.

They have a long way to go to even match the cheapest cassette decks of the 80's and 90's. I'm wondering if it even plays in stereo. I know you mentioned it but I didn't quite catch what you said.

    There's value in having a cassette deck that has a warranty and all new parts inside. Might not be great-sounding, but just being reliable would be better than most of the vintage decks we can buy in 2024. Might be suitable as a backup unit to replace my currently dead Denon Dr-M10HR (bad capstan motor I think).

    Cool thing i just would recommand if you aim to design Hardware as a Professional, start using simulation tools and go streight to pcb design. This are some key abilities a Hardware Designer/Engineere must have. The problem with this type of prototyping is that you increase the number of solder joints. And each solder joint increases the probability of a failure over time.

    Hi, just wanted to say that there's nothing wrong with the Leonardo, I have made a similar project to one of yours which has 6 Channels (Including the master Ctrl) and I also have switches wired up to the digital pins of and Arduino Nano (Clone Boards) the switches help me to mute a certain channel. All I want to say is Leonardo is maybe a bit overkill as My Arduino Nano is capable of handling the code just fine with its memory and SRAM. And also the DEEJ runs a software in the background which reads the serial com port so a Arduino Nano/Uno doesn't have any problem as per my knowledge. Leonardo and Pro micro has USB CDC feature but the DEEJ probably doesn't use it. EDIT: For more pins you can use I2C expander module like the PCF8574 for I/O

    I recently got the Weymic CK-120, and first impressions were "Wow! This feels really heavy and impressive." It didn't feel cheap and nasty, considering the low price. Unfortunately, closer inspection revealed its cheap, plastic sliders and controls, very few actual functions, and "Effects" which are actually just one effect - greater or lesser echo. Not reverb - echo. You can have echo with a long delay or a short delay, and that's it. Useless. Then I connected two reliable microphones to it, and both produced huge amounts of hissing, making mics. totally unusable. So, I basically have a £150 ornament, because there's nothing I can use this poorly made mixer for.

    It’s a good mixer, I use it for playing live in a four piece band, but, dedicated outputs and volume slides for monitors would be very nice, also it’s badly missing LED indicators for the PFL circuits (preventing very bad mixing results when one f them is accidentally pushed in), since I am a multi instrumentalist, backup singer, band leader and sound engineer at the same time I have to keep an eye on the mixer,one on my pedal board and my third eye for checking the set list, give occasional dirty eyes to the other guys and an occasional glance at the crowd I need quick visual info on what’s going on…. Sell it a few bucks more and add these features please. Other than that it’s pretty amazing for the money.

    This thing gets poor reviews. But here's the thing, my closet is filled with a ton of broke cassette decks spanning 40 years. I wouldn't give ANY of them good reviews. As a kid in the '80s and early '90s, cassette decks and tapes SUCKED. Everything about cassette tapes was poor quality, haha. That is the charm. I'm going to buy one of these. If I get a couple of years out of it (like all my old cassette decks in life), it will be worth it.

    Maybe it's Audacity even: (Audacity prefs, audio i/o) In the "Recording" section use the "Channels" dropdown menu to select the number of channels you wish to use. A "Channel" (also known as a "track") refers to the number of audio signals you wish to use to record or playback. A mono recording uses one audio signal (1 channel), and a stereo recording records two audio signals (2 channels). Audacity defaults to "1 (mono)" so you can leave it at this if you are recording from a mono audio input. Most microphones are only capable of producing a mono signal. Select "2 (stereo)" if you are recording from a stereo audio input such as a cassette or mini disc player (or a stereo microphone). It is possible to select up to 16 channels but do not select more than 2 unless you have something other than a 'normal' sound card.

    • @bax2004
      @bax2004 7 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure it's that, I'm usually good about setting Audacity to record with two channels, and looking back at the master file, it says that the track is in stereo, and shows two waveforms. The direct feed version was done through another computer running Audacity, and the stereo there came out fine.

      @@bax2004 When you create an audacity project you specify if the recording will be in mono or stereo but the Audio i/o section in preferences is different to this, so it's possible to be creating a stereo file from a mono source and Audacity defaults to mono in the audio i/o.

    Check the mixer settings on your computer. I think the computers input is set to mono/center. If you pan the left and right channels on the computers mixer, perhaps you can get stereo. It might default to centre so that it is easy for people to use microphones. Worth checking as there might not be a problem at all. So far the mixer seems to be sounding okay at least from this youtube video. Maybe run a few things in and get a mix going for another video.

    • @bax2004
      @bax2004 7 месяцев назад

      I have done that (in fact the computer I used that day to record the video was completely different to the one I typically use). I have run the same test with the mixer's internal recorder recording to a flash drive and it is also in mono (VLC's media info even said it is in mono, and there are no options to change that on the mixer's firmware). Checking the mixer setting on the computer it says that I am running on analog stereo duplex (so stereo in stereo out), so we seem to be good there.
