Fishing Loch Obisary North Uist June 2024
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.2 месяца назад
Loch Obisary is a large loch in North Uist with a tidal entrance to the sea. Every time we fish this loch it shows a different character. Thats probably why its amongst our favorite lochs. The weather was pretty brutal when we fished Loch Obisary this year. Generally its not been a great year for trout fishing as temperatures have remained low, for the most part, limiting terrestrial fly life. ...

Fishing Finsbay Lochs for Harris Trout and Sea Trout
Просмотров 4,2 тыс.2 месяца назад
Fishing for a number of days on the delightful Finsbay lochs on Harris. There are a large number of lochs to to fish a number of which can hold stocks of Sea Trout. The loch I was fishing and where I caught the large Sea Trout was Loch Huambabhat which is one of the largest. The Ghillie Alasdair indicated that it was a Sea Trout with an estimated its weight in the region of 14lb. The other larg...
Canoe & Fly Fishing Trip to Loch Hundair

A great day out with Mark McSparron with the objective of fishing one of the large and remote North Uist lochs called Loch Hundair. As its so remote we had never fished this loch in our numerous visits to North Uist. We picked a great day as the weather was fantastic for canoeing and we caught some nice trout on the fly.

Fly Fishing Loch Ba on Rannoch Moor
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.4 месяца назад
Whilst on a walking holiday in Glencoe I decided to have a break from walking and fish Loch Ba. Its situated not far from the road but its a tussocky terrain when walking the lake shore. I was somewhat sad to see other visitors had decided when enjoying this beautiful spot had decided top leave their rubbish behind. I managed a reasonable 7 small fish the best being half a pound. However, I did...

A ride in the nicest day of the year so far on some great mountain bike trails in he Lake District. A favorite descent, HP Plantation, seems to have deteriorated into a rock garden unfortunately. George got carried away with the descents and blew his tubeless tyre and then had a pinch puncher on the the emergency inertube.

Stunning scenery. What lines are you using>
I usually use a Sunray EZ Back Cast floating line which is a front weighted line. I just find it works better in the wind and for shorter casts. I also used an RIO intermediate line for the first time and it accounted for the two biggest fish.
@@kendaloutabout8622 Cheers
All the fish look in great condition. I would have kept that last fish for dinner, sea run browns are as good as any salmon in my book.
Can I please ask what Finsbay lochs you fished - there are so many of them! Or at least where you started, if you went along a chain of lochs.
Hi Ross. The main loch and undoubtedly the one which seems to produce the largest brown and sea trout is Loch Huamabhat. Most of the lochs have brown trout and some seatrout the success varies with the weather and the year. I always have a fish in Loch Holmasaig (surprisingly usually with out success) and Loch Dempster (which can be good) as they are both easily accessible. My favorite of the more remote lochs for brown trout is Loch Dubh. The weather was so poor this year I thought I was lucky to catch any fish.
Thank you so much for that reply! That is very much appreciated. You can spend all day finding out that one loch is really dour but there’s always hope when you know that a near neighbour loch is much more ‘fishy’ !
Leaving rubbish behind is unfortunately endemic in Scotland. Any loch unfortunate enough to have a road nearby will undoubtedly have litter strewn on the shore. I will never understand people who behave this way - they have gone to an outdoor location with nice scenery, so they clearly have an appreciation for it, but then they ruin it by leaving their rubbish behind.
Yes I can't really understand it either.
Was there mid June, camped and fished for a few days across nearer Eaval from you. Strong north westerly winds most of the time and had no fish of any size. Got a nice day for climbing the hill though 🙂
Had a paddle over to the foot of Eaval and fishe the Obisary and the remote lochs near Eaval. There is a few videos of the adventure. We caught some nice fish from most of the lochs. However, the weather was very calm.
Nice 👍🏻
How do you get a day ticket for obisary? Looks grand.
You get a tickets from North Uist Estate Office or Lochmaddy Hotel.
I think you need more engines 😏😉😂 Nice going 👍🏻 😊 12lb?
Nice, but best not to handle the fish !
It's not a problem if you've got wet hands, anyway this guy looks like he knows what he's doing more than well enough, take it you don't do a lot of fishing yourself?
The big trout was a brown trout.
Brown trout turn into sea trout when they've migrated to the sea and return
@@mickwalsh8136 Not of any relevance to big trout that do not migrate to sea!
@@gordonmackenzie7523 obviously true, but also obvious the big one was a returned sea trout
@@mickwalsh8136 Incorrect. Research the history of the fishery. There have been big brownies coming out of that loch ever since the fishfarm was established. The fishery also has history of calling the big brown trout sea trout. Once you either catch, or be in the boat when they are caught, several thousand Lewis and Harris sea trout over several decades, you would realise exactly what the fish is.
Handling those fly rods like Champs. Great video and beautiful fish. 👍👍
Can you bait fish much for day permit mate looks great
Sorry fly only I believe.
Fine sport on light tackle!
Nice bike bro
Beautiful scenery even if the conditions not so much... And so lovely colours on those fish! Well done!
Outstanding fish
These videos are wonderful content, enjoyed watching the fishing rod technique and how you had the lunch on the rocks, I get to see lots of hiking and bushcraft vids from the area but first for fishing, excellent
What a wonderful video, beautiful, the fish are so colorful and scenery awesome, so blessed, liked and following, look forward to checking out more videos in future.
Now this is an adventure! Thanks for letting us come along.
Fished there in the 80s lots of small trout. Huge lightning storm torrential rain followed by a massive midge hatch, hard to breath. Memorable 😂😂
Fished there in exact same place 40 years ago, plenty of wee broonies what i can remember. Thanks for the post.
Typical loch fishing or better than average?
Hard to say. I caught some fish so always a good day. Really mixed weather as well.
@kendaloutabout8622 do you need a permit
@@garyshaw7827no permit required.
Good effort hiking out to those waters. Fished loch an Tomain with a RIB about 10 years ago but I took the estate boat up from the bottom of Obisary to the sandy bay at the top and dragged the RIB across the moor to Tomain. Great video. I love watching the takes. They fight like tigers.
Ah excellent...would love to return...armed with Black pennel and Zulu. Simon Artley
lovely bit of wild fishing there guys! more in common with a remote Scottish loch than an English reservoir! not missing the pellet munchers either. are are these all wild fish? 👍
Apparently, the fish are descended from the original river stock before the reservoir. So yes, truly wild fish.
Thank you Sir
Thank you for the video, being unfamiliar with the area, where would I find the route - Johnny
Hi Johnny being local we don't normally follow any particular route guide. However, this particular ride was based on one from Komoot - www.komoot.com/tour/1477372314?share_token=anxUxrHdDmMtHq4bJ4gQ4Gthsun5QXswX96M1cP4Q6upJZoK1h&ref=wtd
Nice edit. Very similar ride to one I did on Sunday. Colthouse is much better than when I rode it September last year, it was like a swamp, at least it's rideable now. we turned left halfway along Parkamoor and dropped down to Satterthwaite via The Three Witches and finished with the Cookoo brow decent back to the ferry. Some awesome technical descent's.
Who controls these stretches?
great video thanks so much so cool
💕Wow💙💙💗💗💙💗💗
Hey friend new here I subscribed friend great video stay connected 👍👍
Fine sport on light tackle!
Must be 6-7 years since i fished this wonderful place. Clearly remember the catching flies were a team of small & black representations. Seeing this has stirred up my motivation for the place again.
Nothing like dragging your new bike under fallen trees when you desperately want to keep it in perfect condition for a few weeks!
Spot on. I now have a few scrapes to remind me of the first ride ☹
Nice looking bike. Is that a Comp Alloy with different tyres?
Yes a Comp Alloy. I ditched that stock tyres on the bike for ones tried and tested on my previous levo.
2nd levo...you must rate them as being ok ? I'm thinking about getting my first eMTB and the levo comp alloy or trek rail are probably top of my list 😊
@richardmerritt5600 Yes, I rate them. Others I ride with have other makes and they seem to be happy. Can't say I've compared many other bikes but the Specialized software app is still ahead of the game and they honor their warrantee without quibble.
Thanks for the reply 👍
Great day at the river. I love to fish in cold, windy and cloudy days.
Ah interesting water...I fish day ticket water at Caton usually late summer autumn... Anyway best endeavours safe wading and ..these days rather like fishing for unicorns... though I believe the sea trout can be ok up there? heres to a fish or 3 on the Allys shrimp..or Willie Gunn in 2024 My first throw on an English river may be the Eden Simon Artley Manchester
Beautiful fish!
I have fished Cow -Green since the 70s when i first visited and worm fished . I loved the reservoir and i helped get it on the 4x4 Wild Reservoir ticket after asking the fisheries manager Don Coe if he thought it a good idea that Wild Brown trout Anglers could fish Blackton and Balderhead on the same day ticket. That ide spread to allowing Selset Cow-Green ,Blackton and Balderhead on a 4x4 season ticket . I am now banned for life on NWA By Don Coe and his Staff and face court actions and police prosicution after an incident in Grassholme Disabled Toilets where my actions were filmed on CCTV on the 16 -o9 -2023 which was witnessed by my female friend who was shocked to learn CCTV has been filmed around the building . I am 67 years old ,30% disabled and have had a season ticket on the 4x4 season ticket only fishing up to an hour because i suffer Manic Depression and Anxiety and need to be alone inmy fishing . All this has ended through Don Coe and his staff and their violent conduct and verbal attacks on me .
Hi thanks for any help you made in making Cow Green and other reservoirs in the area wild trout fisheries. For me fly fishing for wild brown trout in still waters is the type of fishing i enjoy the most. I obviously can't comment on your troubles, not being party to them, however I hope they are resolved speedily to yours and everybody else's satisfaction.
Really enjoyed that. Thanks for uploading it. I camped in a wooden hut up there about 50 years ago. I can't remember how to get to that part of the river. Is it near Wallish Walls?
I don't really know the area as I was relying on Mark. However, just checked the map and yes it is up stream from the track down from Wallish Walls.
Wet and windy. Like everywhere at the moment. Can relate to that! 😊❤ new sub from us here in jersey CI 😊
Just what I was searching for. Fished the Derwent many times but never the sneep stretch
Beautiful fishing!
