Willow Obelisk Tutorial
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.4 года назад
Tutorial given by Sue Radford, of Stonewillow, on how to make a Willow Obelisk (I didn't realise I sounded so bumpkin, apologies!). stonewillowcraft/
If you stick the ends in the grown it will grow correct?
If the willow is green it will grow if you put it in the ground. If the willow is thoroughly dried, it will not grow.
Could you give more information on what willow was used and a slower video would be great with a little tuition please
Hi Paula. Thank you for your message. These videos are really only meant for entertainment and not for tuition. I do however run workshops from my studio in Devon. As for the verity of willow I think this was Flanders Red but most willow would work fine as long as it’s freshly cut and alive. (When the leaves drop) I’m sure there will be someone in the willow industry near you that would run a course. Sue
Thanks for the video! It's great, I didn't know how to even start! I have a question though - if my willow sticks are dry and not too flexible, is it helpful to soak them in water in advance? I've heard it could do the trick
Hi Marta. Yes the willow will need to be soaked. A rough soaking guide is a day soaking per foot in length, then a day to “mellow” wrapped in a slightly damp blanket for a day before you weave with it. The verity of willow may need different soaking times and if the water is warm it will soak faster, if it’s very cold it will take longer. I hope this is helpful. Good luck Sue
Appreciate video... In this stupid, destructive, big media driven society my life now revolves around creating wooden/stick structures as this.
Fantastic = but no idea what just happened. Would love to see it in normal motion.:)
Great demo. What kind of willow is that?
Beautiful! ❤️
Love this tutorial, great job. Now I need to find fresh straight willow sticks. Thank you!
So glad you like this, I love my job and happy to share the joy of what I do. Happy weaving Sue from Stone Willow
Amazing vid 👍 thanks! I’m getting the green thumb(s)
